So......Karthus is retardedly OP right?
I got stuck with a 4 man premade in a normal draft earlier.....decided to trollpick Revive/Teleport Karthus Support after they were massive dicks to me in champ select.
A stole almost every single CS from our AD, got really farmed really fast and just started destroying everything.
Blitz even helped me out by hooking me into their team a few times.
It was really, really, really fun.

Funny that you say this, because my friend who basically only plays gangplank/ashe bought and played karthus for the first time today. Ended up going 7-1 or something with almost every kill coming from his ult lol.

I'm proud to say that the majority of my 18 kills came from hitting Q's after landing WoP and then just running after them.

The thing about karthus is that he doesn't have to win lane to win game. He just has to farm well. Once you ding level 16 with 400+ AP, you're going to be useful, no matter what happened earlier. If you put down decent walls, hit 50% of your Q's in a teamfight and ulti once you die, you're useful. If you die in a good spot, you've won the teamfight. If you live and get to save your ulti for the next teamfight or kill the last three runners, even better.

I've always regarded Karthus as the only true hyper AP carry in the game. Guy just does so much damage in addition to the fact that everyone is going to take a million damage from his ult when he has his items, unless you have some awesome skill/zhonya's.

Veigar's the epitome of an assassin, he's not a hyper carry and barely qualifies as a carry.
Hypercarries are Karthus(ult+defile+passive = godmode lategame), Vayne(don't even need any other source of damage on your team if you could keep 4+item vayne alive, ideal team comp would be like 4 nauts and a vayne). If Nasus didn't have such issues with kiting he could be considered one as well due to being able to 2shot every carry lategame and roll towers like a boss. I guess also 6 item Olaf with full lategame build could be considered one as well?
Very few champs though would be considered true hypercarries though, because the Dota equivalents will be able to 1v3/4 with enough items. Doesn't need to be fed, only farmed. I guess you could put AD sion on that list too if he could get to like 6 items and 400 farm.

Once you buy QSS don't you pretty much stop him from killing you? Don't play him, but I doubt he can get off w+q+ult+dfg all before you get out of it.

LoL is my first MOBA so I don't have the best definition of hypercarry but I just thought the highest 6 item burst in the game would qualify.

He can hit everything but the dark matter. With 600+ AP, hitting the dfg+Q+ulti is enough to deal with most squishies with under 100MR or at least get them low enough that anyone can finish with a single skill.
Edit:: Hypercarry traditionally is someone that will kill everything fast and reliably lategame. Generally this is done by having either high sustained damage (AD carries but kogmaw/vayne in particular), Massive damage in general (Karthus defile+ultimate) or tankiness+high damage (old jax and new jax to a certain point).

Since when is carry got to do with burst? Carry usually means sustained damage from a safe distance, veigar has neither.

From what I understand :
Hypercarry - guy who has enough dps to kill everything & just needs meatshields.
Assassin - sneaky bastard with high burst and gap-closers and disengage skills/high mobility.
Burst casters - guy who can 100-0 shit.
Veigar isn't an assassin, just a burst caster.

I don't know. Karthus just has a massive amount of guaranteed damage which nobody else has.
Definitons don't mean anything anyway it doesn't matter if you get them wrong.

Karthus is really strong. I have been playing some jungle Karthus in normals its a lot of fun. The thing is he sucks until level 7ish against any mid champ so you are mostly farming undertower if you play him normaly.
Still Articuno and Ryze scale better into lategame teamfights.
