lol this got me into looking at the playdota website again, a place I haven't visited in over a year and there's like 4/5 heroes I've never seen before That's kinda funny. If it was LoL you haven't been playing for a year it would be more in the line of 15-20 champions you haven't seen before ^^ Well they just HAVE to change something about it sooner or later. At one point people will realize that League is one of the most expensive games on the market right now. =P Not exactly. If you want to buy everything the game has to offer, sure. But for the price of SC2, you can get a good number of champs. Add an "expansion" and you can easily afford runepages and more champs. LoL has more to offer than what you can get for that money, but you can still buy enough to call it a full game. You don't go into a shop and say "this is the most expensive shop in the world" just because it has more stuff than you can afford, either. The thing is, LoL is now competing with a game where all of the meaningful content is free and unlocked at the start, and only the cosmetic extras cost money. Granted, I doubt DotA 2 will really have that big of an impact on LoL, seeing as how different the playerbases are, but the fact that DotA 2's business model is essentially only selling cosmetics has got to turn at least a few heads at Riot HQ.
I think it was Smash who first pointed it out when I propose the notion that Riot might never stop releasing new champoins and he said they could always take on a "Magic the Gathering" type of approach to tournament play and only allow X through Y champions for tournament realm. If they do this they could easily make all champions prior to the cut off (and thus not allowed in competitive play but perfectly viable for ranked, normals, or dominion) free. Still wouldn't be as good as DotA though, because if you were interested in competitive play and Riot did do something like this you'd still have to keep up with the new champions that come out.
However after the release of Pulsefire Ez and the new price point of what I'm going to dub as "super legendaries" I have changed my mind and think that Riot definitely will stop releasing new champions after awhile. I think that going forward they'll probably focus on making crazy cool skins like Pulsefire Ez and charging like $35 for them (since iirc, if you don't buy Pulsefire Ez in the first like four days he's gonna cost something like 3500 RP).
Maybe in the future after every champion has come out they'll just start giving away champions as they steadily release really interesting skins and other cosmetics.

If by HoN-esque you mean it's difficult to distinguish things, I think it's an inherent trait in all mobas. Things are difficult to distinguish if you haven't played the game extensively. I'm on the same page as them. Not that it's blurry or whatever, but it suffers from (and this is just my opinion of course) the "brown is realistic" effect that a lot of games are going on today. Not that DotA 2 is realistic looking (still monsters and what not), but everything is very brown and dilapidated on the map, the minions, and many of the heroes. In League, there's a lot of color, the champions pop out and are distinguishable, and it doesn't have that drab brown n grey feel I get when I watch or play DotA 2.
The other thing is the cosmetics of champions/heroes. I know Valve is looking to closely follow the original look, but there are a handful of champions that just don't do it for me. Like, you know how people complained about Darius being "generic looking guy with an Axe"? I feel that from a lot of heroes in DotA 2 have that same vibe of looking like a generic dude, especially when they're not as "standout-ish" as the LoL. You can call LoL "cartoon-y" or whatever, but almost every champion just feels unique looking from just watching them, and honestly I can't say a the same from watching a lot of DotA 2.
That may be bias a bit on my part, and not having a lot of experience with DotA 2 as well, but just my feelings.

. i dont think this is a fair generalization. there are many heroes that come out that are underpowered if anything, or at least viewed that way (draven, fiora, viktor all come to mind off the top of my head). darius is strong, but even calling him op (after the ult nerf) i dont think is accurate.

That alone is not a meaningful argument to make. All of DotA2's content can easily be of less value than just half of LoL's content. The value of LoL's content is also greatly increased by the massive popularity of the game, something that DotA2 will have to catch up to. And I honestly doubt it will. No matter how good the game is, LoL has a firm grip on the market right now. By the time that grip weakens, DotA2 might have lost its chance. My prediction might be way off the mark, obviously.

Off the "Armory" site:
To celebrate Pulsefire Ezreal’s landing in the League of Legends Store, we’ll be letting you take him home for less than the price of a Legendary Skin for the first four days after he’s released. You’ll be able to add Pulsefire Ezreal to your arsenal for 1625 RP – a full 50% off his base price. After the sale, he’ll return to his regular price of 3250 RP.

Yeah, there's absolutely zero controversy over this. The entire LoL community, except for one kid, has zero issue with a 3250 RP price tag on the skin.

I'm going to assume Tuesday. They haven't announced a new champion at all so I would guess that next patch is Pulsefire Ez patch and then two weeks from there we'll get a new champ. This is completely guess work though, Riot hasn't said when he comes out.
Also, as was pointed out, no one is angry in any way about the cost of Pulsefire Ez.

/10 is not an accurate $$ to rp conversion
think of it as /130
or $7.50 = 975 rp, $25 = 3250
