With regards to the Varus skill leveling order.
The bonus damage scaling on q is 1:1 while e is 1 : .6. Comparing level 5 q and e, at >205 AD q will do more damage with no charge up time. With Janna's shield, 2 doran's, bf sword, masteries, 15 ad from runes, base damage + base damage /level you will be at 210.5 ad. Now in a Janna lane it is possible to make a lvl 9 maxed q work for more damage than a maxed e.
If maxing w first in a burst lane @ lvl 13, 2 dorans, 15 from ad runes, ie, no janna shield, your AD is 226, and once again the damage on maxed q will be greater than maxed w.
I also feel using e offensively, can set you up for disaster. If you're only using the ultimate offensively, e is your only form of escape. If you decide to use the ultimate and go all in on a guy and use e to proc the first set of w's, you've used all of your self peeling. Using q to proc the w's and leaving e up gives you some kind of peeling, to possibly get away from a situation you didn't expect. (like you're about to kill the enemy, and all of a sudden a teleport gank/ shen ult/ the jungler was lane ganking and was camping that bot lane brush whole time/ all of the above etc)

Looks like abyssal is becoming standard in mid (in pro play). Where does this put chalice into athene's? Is abyssal for people who don't have mana problems?, and Chalice into athenes for those who do?
|
Yeah pretty much, abyssal is much more common on the non mana using AP's Vlad Ken Rumble

Watching that fnatic vs m5 game i wonder why lamia is getting turret agro. He died in the last fight, and in another fight he was shut out because of turret agro lol.

except E does not get reduced damage from minion block, and leveled q is very expensive. Basically I say E>Q, unless Raka. But that's coming from supporting him, not playing him.

Tried playing Poppy vs. Darius...didn't go well. His passive bleed crap goes right through your passive, and his ult does true damage. I think it will be pretty pointless to play Poppy these next few weeks, such a poor matchup.
On the plus side, I think my Kayle might be worth bringing up again!

Poppy loses hard to Olaf, not surprised to see she loses against Darius as well

This is possibly the greatest post in the LoL forums!!! Thanks!!!!

Poppy loses to Swain and Olaf. Of course she'll get destroyed by somebody yielding both huge DoT and true damage.

Oh my god I feel like a pro. I've been watching wingsofdeath's stream vods and I saw him play a few games with jax and I managed to hold the creep wave in-between my tower and the river for 20 minutes almost always zoneing out the yi and got a 70 cs advantage.
Some of those tricks to pull creep aggro to one creep on your side to help the lane push your way are really fancy and hard to pull off, but they are totally worth it. The 2 tap minion jump then empower combo is so deadly hard and impossible to retaliate against with any conventional solo top with the dodge move.
|
Dunno, I usually try to jump, aa, empower to maximize the damage, but the swing of the lamppost is slow enough when you W that they usually manage to simply walk away if I don't stun them. x)
|
If you want to get fancy fancy you can start your e before you jump get the r proc off then stun and empower before getting another r proc. Whats the delay on how long you can proc the r after gettig you aa's?
Also is it worth it to get tough skin and bladed armor masteries for solo tops that manipulate the creep wave like I do? I'm tanking a little bit of dammage to move them off to the side. Does anyone else have any tips for lane/push manipulation?
|
bladed armor can really fuck you if you try to hold, they get low, then they move into tower range and you don't have the easy tower math to kill them with
just something to think about

game on wickd's stream just now was why I love watching CLG.EU, I think they started 0-4, turned it into a one sided game in their favor.

Just stick with tough skin (and indomitable if def specced) if you are planning on harassing heavily with aa's, bladed armor makes lane manipulation harder imo. R proc lasts 2.5 seconds, so you can use his passive as a timer.

It makes sense though. Won't matter, xpeke #1 karthus huehue.

What's this draw creep aggro trick and is it common knowledge?

There was a guide on lane freezing on reddit Ill try to find it for you Wala
I think its drawing minion aggro by attacking the enemy champion then luring the minions to your side

Summarized version (or what I remember it by) - Get minion aggro - Walk to the side - Melee minions in front will 1v2 or 1v3 one of your minions, pushing your lane
