You could Headbutt+auto the same way you could Headbutt+pulverize. This works now too so you can go try it if you don't believe me. Even if you weren't good at doing that, Sion has to walk into the creep wave to pop his shield; u just sit there, wait for him to approach the creep, auto him then immediately headbutt him.
Even if you were couldn't/wouldn't try to pop his shield, you could just wait for Sion to clear the wave, tank the creep and aggro it around you then insta-clear it with your pulverize. Your E sustain more than makes up for w/e damage you take from creep.

lol I didn't know that -_-. I suppose he would lose to phase 2 cow than. Still, he was just the most popular of a lot of good pushers at the time. Post-remake gets the ability to wave clear so much faster then pre.

I'd be lying if I said his post-remake wave clear was worse (larger aoe on Q + trample), but to say Alistar's wave clear pre-remake was bad or insufficient is just wrong. The Q 1.0 ratio makes up for the trample 0.2 to minions ratio considering his Q was nerfed to 0.8 ratio with the remake. He could kill minions just as fast if not faster since trample is damage over time. The biggest problem was that pre-remake you had to use Q to clear, which could be taxing on your mana if you couldn't force your lane opponent back to relieve pressure on your lane. But even then, I can't think of many pushers in that era that Alistar couldn't deal with other than maybe Corki/Sivir.

I dunno, I don't share your opinion on that. I think his post remake spells are just absurdly better for clearing minions, and making that the case was one of the big goals in changing his spells in the first place. I guess we'll just have to disagree on that though.

Build health+AD damage on him for the most part. Build a little tanky, cause a free chain vest+negatron isn't quite enough for him to be a good tanky-dps.
I love how hard people rage about not banning Kassadin at low ELO.
