And that's why you still have normal games (both blind and draft mode of which the last one comes pretty close to a serious background so you can test that champ in a realistic scenario) where rotation champions that you don't own are still available. You can test / learn / try the champ there and practice learning by doing.
But if you pick those champs in ranked games (that definitely are supposed to be competitive) although you don't even have a clue and thus cost me the game, I will hate you.
Yes, it could be that you are good with him and just have a bad game, but since this is the internet and I don't know you personally, you can't resent me that I will get mad at you for playing a rotation champ and doing badly. There are numbers that prove that people playing rotation champs in ranked tend to lose more often and I can't know that you are the golden exception that just has a bad game.
I agree with this little change 100% and think that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages (if there are any at all).

Hecarim has a strong early game? Please do elaborate on that, I viewed him as a weak jungler for quite a while (compared to udyr). Hecarim is a ganker, not a farmer like Udyr. He's similar to Rammus in that he can quickly and severely punish enemies who are even slightly overextended due to how quickly he can enter a lane. The major difference between Rammus and Hecarim being the latter brings damage where the former brought CC. The problem with Hecarim is that he isn't a faceroll champion. His ganks, tankiness, and teamfighting all depend upon careful positioning and ability timing. All such champions tend to be unpopular until someone busts them out in a tournament or uses them to reach the top 25. Y u not 2.5k elo with hecarim? I've been too busy saving the world from Tyrael. Wow spoilers bro :/ agreed thats kinda asshole

I think a big part of why they removed the free champion rotation from ranked is also that it let's people play those champs when they own them during free week without having to worry about people thinking they haven't played the champ before (without having to buy skins). Not saying it's the main reason but I'm sure it's part of it.
As far as playing new champs go, personally whenever I try a new champ I want to play I first read a guide (or 3), then make a custom recommended items script, then practice at least one game in a custom against bots to get a feel for the skills/how to play the champ. And that's just for normals. In ranked games I'd expect others to do at least as much + play a few normal games with the champ before using him in ranked (excepting cases where a player is forced into a role they don't normally play and/or their main champs all end up picked/banned already).

http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Recommended_item_code
So that you don't get braindead recommended items like Regrowth Pendant on Vayne for example. Pretty much every new champ I try I pick out 6 items from the guides that I think will work best and put them in there. Of course some stuff is situational but it really helps for the first few games.

Hashinshin on tilt after he got destroyed by a fed Katarina, I switch streams since he just talks trash about his teammates and says "Darius and Riven are almost the same, but Riven's OP and Darius's too weak below average", and then he picks Nasus instead of an ad carry on the stream I switched too.

I love Katarina. If you play her right and abuse the CD refreshes, she just dominates late game if you got the proper team around her.
Just saw my first Darius pentakill. So dumbbbbbbbbb.

What you mean it not that great?
o.o
It still a 1k true damage nuke... If it refreshes it is TWO 1k True damage nukes...
Thats better than Cho ult in terms of straight up damage, and range... AND half the time it has no CD.

Been playing normals all day, already seen three...
Thats more pentakills than I have seen in the past month in one day.
The thing that makes it most broken is even a total dipshit can play Darius and still be big as hell. Doesn't matter if he fed like a boss and got absolutely ragdolled in lane. Come teamfights he going to just KS everything and get big as hell. Only way to avoid this is to focus Darius... and to have to focus Darius even when he isn't fed at all means to me that he is OP as all hell.

Well, I'm very sold on the Grail of Athene.
Only con with it is the price imo. Liking it a lot on Orianna, plan to test it on Swain when they enable him again. Or has he already been put back in?

report dyrus for intentional feed

Ohh so that's why Scarra was playing Orianna earlier today lol. probably to practice.

lol, Dyrus getting rolled.

Also, double GP10 on Ori? huh...

I think regards and rambo are the best duo combo for NESL.

This game is so onesided.

Darius can't initiate for shit and is easily kited. That makes him incredible on low levels but I think he'll be easily handeled on lower levels. A small round with the nerf bat and his laneing will be bearable.
Still can get akali level crazy.

People seem to misunderstood what I was saying. I'm not referring to the free rotation being removed, just the general mentality. I also think people overrate "ranked" far too much. The only place where it really is competitive is in a tournament. I guess that's just a different viewpoint of things. Maybe it's just because I'm not really a LoL player so I don't have this view, it's like calling sc2 ladder competitive but everyone knows it's just a place to practice for the tournament.

Anyone else have their last used skins not be the default for a champion? Realy annoying, almost played an amumu game without my skin.
