Remember guys, this is the general discussion thread. Keep whine/QQ posts in the appropriate QQ memorial thread! Thanks! |
IIRC 1250/bronze was top 25%.
People are really fucking bad at this game. No offense to the sub 1.2ks, I just imagine 50% mark to be something like 800 elo. Don't think it even counts people who only normal queue or play dominion, and then there's sub 30s. Oh god people are bad, I'm terrible and I'm high gold

Honestly only major difference in elo is decision making, especially global objectives. I recently played a couple of games at 1000-1200 account, you can lose a really close games because of people derpness.
Most of players have decent mechanic skill, but not enough game experience to play properly

If one were to purchase a Kog skin:

They should make a Jurassic Lion Dance skin.

Yup same here, haven't played ranked in a while, thought I'd probs lose the game for the team but I forgot that everyone around 1700 is just so much worse. Also matchmaking sucks. Enemy jungler was shit, I capitalized on that. Enemy mid was shit, capitalized on that aswell and enemy top basically counterpicked himself. Not sure if matchmaking working properly.

After I won game at score screen it said Rated(Unranked) and I guess that's because I need to play at least 10 games before everyone can see my rating BUT at my profile page I could see it and it says 1305, my question is... what is starting ELO for new players? 1300? And what rating is known to be "average" in LoL? 1500? 10 games for a publicly displayed Elo, but your Elo is always visible to yourself. Also, if at any point you dip below 1250 then your Elo becomes hidden from public (but again, you can still see your own Elo). The average Elo in LoL is pretty low. 1200-1300-ish? 1500+ Elo is already in the top 10% or better iirc. That was the consensus around the end of Season 1 iirc. I wonder if this is even still true due to the much larger number of players now and elo inflation. The current averages/percentages could be lower or higher tbh. season 1 was substantially worse than this, according to the numbers riot released 1250 elo(bronze) was the top 25% of players but i belive that included all accounts or at least just level 30 accounts that might not even play ranked at all
top 10% was 1400 top 3% was 1520 top .02% was 1900
again thats according to the end of s1

Also, APistar too stronk.
|
Season 1 info only used accounts that had played ranked.

I remember the days of AP alistar, sigh* when his AP ratios were double what they are now and he was a monster

I'm the only one who likes deep sea, really? must be an ap thing

as someone currently climbing out of elo hell by carrying big with banana soraka i feel im in a good place to explain what people do wrong at 1200s ;p
1. they dont understand if they are strong in the trades, you can bully them far too easily if you are more powerful at a certain point. but this is overall a pretty minor deal
2. their mechanics are bad, especially in trade heavy lanes they will miss >50% of cs if they feel harrased.
3. they dont value objectives, but they do value towers. so while they very rarely do dragon when they get a kill bot, they love to push down the tower and then spend the rest of the laning time overextended.
4. wards obviously
5. engaging. they dont value, and dont use well strong iniates like ashe. our team won a game yesterday because my duo partner just arrrowed some guy who ran around on his own trying to bait us, killed him for free charge down mid win the game.
6. rez timers. they stay after a win too long, even if they can see the current timer from a teammates timer they will get caught on the run back, leading to easy counter barons or inhibs.
these are the biggest things i see people do time and again. they tend to be half reasonable at like 50% of the skills of lol, but then they are so terrible at the other 50% that they just get abused and lose.

I'm sub 1k and I think in terms of mechanics I'm better than everyone here. I don't want to sound arrogant since my rating is so low but I always win lane, have the highest CS, etc. But I think I still belong here because I have a propensity to derp, and because I also play really passive in situations where I shouldn't, ie I need to learn when to be aggressive and press my advantage. I'm getting better at that and I'm learning my limits and I'm climbing in elo, but I still think I have a lot to learn before I can get to a respectable elo.
And I agree with what you said. I see high elo players on streams make the same mistakes that I or other people at my rating make, and I always wonder how they even got to that elo.

best advice i can give is to play a strong roamer. so like a leblanc or a vegiar who can dunk people in a gank can win games easier than say a cassiopea (even though she is real strong). you just win your lane, either shove it to their tower or kill their mid / top. and go walk abouts. the lack of wards/reaction means you can just get free kills and put other lanes even more ahead too.
even at low elo river is often warded but if you gank the lane where they have tribrush on their side, you go into their jangles and come out from their tribrush behind them for easy pickings.
remember even if you take a kill in another lane with no assist for your buddies, you are still getting them >12 cs free and a dragon if you can convince them to do it.
also if you are wining your lane hard, buy tons of wards, atleast 2 up at all times so you never get ganked. if you are ahead but your team is behind you represent more than 20% of the value of your team, keeping yourself alive is a bigger deal than killing another person, not just because of the killing spree bonus but because your team probably has no damage without you.
other tip is be nice to people ;D the number of people with no problem afking for getting flamed is huge, even if they started the flaming ;/ so either just dont respond to the flames or be nice about it. remember if they are stupid you cant change their mind, they are stupid because they dont accept outside views so you have no hope of explaining to them what wards do.

I feel like I buy too many wards when I support. Seems my bigger items are always later than the other guy. Then again, most of the time people don't even look what the wards reveal :\

Thanks for the advice. Most of my games I go bot lane as Nautilus. People are dumb and it's easy to get kills and get the AD fed (and then it doesn't matter that your AD is dumb because they 3 shot everyone anyway). He can also roam and gank mid or go to the enemy jungle with his jungler.
Another thing is that Nautilus feels like a big boss champ. The rest of the team are just a bunch of sheep and will usually follow me around so we can get dragon or towers or something. It's a pretty good feeling.
The other aspect of Naut I like is that even if someone on the other team gets fed, you have enough CC and burst by yourself to take them out of the game.

wards are god mode. do you have gp10 quints? they made the biggest difference to my attitude to warding. with standard ap quints i ran into the problem that if i bought wards constantly i would never complete my philo without kills ;/ but with only 3gp/10 from the quints ive found that ive been able to ward accordingly and still work towards items. and since gp10 items snowball into more gp10 items this tiny increase at the start really stacks up soon.
