on the subject of server side vs local. on world of warcraft it wasnt until about 2 years ago that macros were kept server side. a few lines of text werent kept on a server that hosts an entire world. blizzard couldnt 'afford' to do it for 5 ish years of gameplay.

Except that the old sunfire cape was gotten less than 12 minutes into the cape where everybody's HP and MR was low, making the flat 40 DPS actually really strong for when you get it.

sunfire cape is exactly the same on PBE as it is live, just because people on the riot forums are getting trolled doesn't mean you have to as well

What they really need to do to fix Sunfire cape is to reduce the price to something reasonable in the 2,000-2,200 gold range, not the ridiculous 2,600 it is now, I mean you're basically paying for a Giants Belt + Chain Vest with a 800 gold shitty passive.

You should be able to beat him if you trade properly, stay behind minions so his harpoons dont hit you and whenever he flamethowers, kite back and when its on CD hit him with your true damage. You will come out ahead, he wont be able to kill you unless he gets free harass in and you have your ult to escape his if he ever uses it. Buy a early null-magic-mantle if you're doing poorly

All the support lack of fun stuff seems like it would be kinda hard to balance, but what if Riot just put in more items for supports to choose from? That would add a bit of variety to what they could get, and making the items mostly actives might give the support role a more technically demanding aspect to it. Also, I find that providing a bunch of low-cost support items would make the role of support a lot better, as many will have trouble getting the items that they really need without the farm.

Tl:dr giving the support class more items to choose from (more items with actives as well) and at lower costs to lower the significance of lack of farm might help to make the role more fun and active.

I find it peculiar that they buffed Janna's ult mana cost. I've played Janna a lot (I'm a hipster Janna at that having played her extensively in S1 with a 80.6% winrate) and I've never felt like her ult mana cost was particularly prohibitive. Given how FotM she is, I would've expected them to leave her alone or nerf her (even though she's probably the most balanced support there has ever been).

Because according to them, it wouldn't help. There's some kind of limitation with how things are written or pieced together, aka presumably after a certain # of servers, there's a bottleneck somewhere that prevents additional servers from helping with that. It's why they split EU.

Hm... he played strangely, very defensively at first, and became much more aggressive (I failed a Q when I dove him at level 5 and died after him, he lost 2 minions waves tho so worth it) later. After awhile I'd take a lot of damage from his hits when we traded, and when he'd chase me with the flamethrower on (he had MS quints and I picked MR ones, so... ).
I got an hexdrinker and maxed Q first to be able to harass him safely despite his shield spamming. Then their jungle failed and their mid raged and went afk so it's pretty much void (he wasn't strong enough to dive me w/o dying I think, but he'd have outpushed me by a lot).

To make it less specific (lest I went to the Olaf thread), I feel that had I taken MS quints instead of MR, I'd have suffered less damage because he wouldn't have outran me (398 to 378, basically, both boots1), and instead of eating ticks of reduced magic damage, I wouldn't have taken damage at all save for maybe 1-2 ticks. In these kinds of match-ups, would you rather go for MS so that you can engage and disengage more easily (or even dictate the trades against champs w/o gapclosers), or still put defensive quints?

He can't chase you with Q if you throw an axe in his face. If you're eating E's and not landing Q's, the issue is skillshots.

What you want to do in theory is bait out his chase by slowing him so he stays just out of range, then immediately turning back on him as it ends or right before it ends so that you out-trade him. This is a general practice that works for a lot of lane matchups. Or, if you're sufficiently stronger, you can just zerg him and make it so he either runs and does no damage with Q or tries to fight and takes more damage than he deals.

Those patch notes look like complete bullshit to me. There's all the pbe stuff, unchanged, plus some reactive ipl stuff which will probably be in the patch after this one, and everything else seems gleaned from redtracker posts except the sunfire change.

Man :/

Everytime I see a streamer that doesn't use smartcast I always cringe because it looks so awkward and makes my hands feel awkward. Pretty much unable to watch SaintVicious stream DX.

Also, it seems that Dyrus plays half the time with smartcast, and then half the time without it... anyone know why?

Against Rumble specifically? I would go MS quints simply because Rumble is a champion that in order to beat him, you have to kite effectively and abuse his cooldowns + his "Overheat" passive(whenever his energy bar gets maxed, he has a few seconds where he cant do anything). Plus with the upcoming MR rune nerfs, MS quints are even more attractive, plus they're effective throughout the entire game whilst MR quints are only good for surviving early game magic burst.

MR is quite cheap to buy, 400 gold for 24 MR mantle? And it builds into useful items like Wits end, Hexdrinker, Aegis of Legion, Mercury Treads, G.A?
