While this thread is labeled "DotA2", this is in fact a community thread first. Many of the users in the TL LoL subforum have been playing as friends for over a year now, so it makes logical sense that they would want to play other games together.

Do not compare DotA2 to LoL, you will get banned.

TL LoL veterans know what is expected. Newcomers be warned.

Go. LR me. I'm interested because it looks entertaining but I only see 5 seconds Taric stuns flying around and tons of damage that I don't know where it comes from.

I just migrated to the real LR thread and talk about big plays and watch other people ask questions. Although I guess I have a basic understanding of the game now.

I don't understand anything that is happening at DotA but this play-by-play caster is awesome. I wish we had someone like this at Worlds and not Rivington. This guy is even better than Deman and Joe "Joe Miller" Miller combined.

I think it's a benefit of DotA being mostly community-led. If you're good you get picked up because people want to watch you.

Since the NA-scene is controlled by Riot, they just pick up whoever they want.

Deman, DoA, Monte, Chobra have all been picked up because the community likes them. Same thing with Joe Miller to a certain extent. The only casters who are 100% Riot and always have been are Phreak, Rivington, Jatt, and Kobe and the latter two are almost universally liked. I personally also like Phreak to a certain extent nowadays and imo people overstate how bad Rivington is.

ok serious question, why did icefrog feel the need to make an upgrade to basher? when I played like 6 years ago in .48b, basher was a semi-cheese item, now it's core.

Icefrog likes all the items being useful, and quite honestly he's done a good job of making them all somewhat useful.

Basher having an upgrade made the item useful. It was an item that was only useful lategame, but wasn't actually slot-efficient enough to be good lategame.

This is actually a big fault of DotA 2 compared to DotA 1.

In DotA 1, the ranged/melee raxes were extremely distinct because they used totally different building models (Ancient of War/Crypt for Melee, Ancient of Lore/Temple of the Damned for ranged). That Valve chose not to make the raxes in DotA 2 as visually distinct IS something that they can be faulted for.

I think it's a perfectly legitimate complaint--even I've had a mental hiccup and forgotten which one ranged/melee was.

ON dire i'd agree, on radiant its a bit easier, its also explained in the tutorial i believe. they are the only glowing buildings besides towers/ancients and when you click them they are named melee and ranged. i don't think its too difficult overall.

i didn't that was confusing to new players. new people kept asking why the siege barracks didn't buff the siege units.

Personally I don't think either side got the better draft, but if I had to pick one I'd say iG had a bit better draft due to how strong Bat is.

The problem was that OD becomes not all that useful once the other team gets BKB on their key heroes since most of his damage is blocked by BKB and TL didn't/couldn't fight enough in the midgame before iG got BKB on their 3 core heroes. Additionally, Naix spent sooooo much time infested in Puck trying to get Naix bombs off, but they didn't pull it off nearly enough for it to be worth it. As a result, Naix fell extremely far behind and couldn't keep up with SF and Weaver.
