Well, considering I am #1 EG fanboi, I blame this current unpleasantness on the fact that Dan has been traveling a bit recently, and it looks like they just switched around roles again.
I still contend that given EG playing at their full potential (quite difficult I know, mostly considering getting them together to play at ALL is nearly impossible in itself) is the strongest NA team because they just have the best NA AP carry and best NA top lane (salce & dyrus). Not to mention probably the second best support. I also love the fact that they can just run comps other teams cant because 3/5 can play every role in the game.
If they can clear up their biggest issue (moving as a team) I have no doubt they would be the strongest team in the world. Although I DO wish Dan would optimize his jungle. Cloth 5 on lee sin? Really?
Well, at least until they got to the finals of an event. Then they would be the second best team.

EG is the Stork of LoL Esports: Forever placing 2nd
|
I think Salce is good, Westrice isn't bad but I don't like him as an AD (ofc I don't like Dyrus as an AD either), and that Dan/Dyrus are extremely overrated. EG as a whole never gets enough team practice.
|
Dan is overrated I think. Well, to be more accurate, I consider him to be accurately rated because IMO he is an A tier jungle who occasionally does slightly odd builds that make him look real bad. But his game knowledge is good, and in practice he can be quite good at engaging. He isnt S class like Saint and TOO (well, so long as TOO isnt being invaded), but he gets the job done. Id rather have Dan than IWillDominate, for example.
Disagree on Dyrus. Top is by far the worst position for top tier talent. It is the only role where not being able to play every single champion is acceptable somehow.
And think about top NA tops. HS goes derpmode way to often, and has a champ pool of, at this point, Cho. TRM is TRM. Voy is good, but he never seems to go over the top, especially not recently with all of Dignitas' struggles.
Dyrus is really the only one left. He has one of the widest champ pools. He proved at WCG he knows better than anyone else how to take his farm and use it to get global objectives. And he is the only solo top who doesnt do stupid shit on a regular basis.

lollerskates, just went 13-1 LB in a normal, shouldn't have died.
Last teamfight they all bunch up and I WR into them and blow up the entire team, WHO SAYS LB GOT NO AOE?
Also stealing their dragon 1v5 from the back. Feel like such a troll playing her and popping in and out.

Same game rumble goes top saying he's pretty good with rumble, later doesn't know what WOTA is when I tell him to buy it... -_-

I think Dyrus improved a lot lately tbh. It used to be that Salce/Westrice would carry EG every game, but nowadays most of the scrims they win are because Dyrus carries hard.
His laning still has some of the weaknesses it used to have (easily gankable if you have strong junglers) but it's a lot smarter now and IMO his bruiser teamfighting is the best in the game.
And every (NA at least) top lane is really inconsistent anyways D:

and then after that they listen to moron salce "don't take blue, leave it for later" then the enemy team takes it. Stupid jungling, why would dan dinh listen to salce, salce isn't the jungler.
and then they lose because aoe beats less aoe. They lost because their engages were terrible, not because of too much aoe. Ulting their janna and then collapsing on her in such a grouped up manner is just asking to get destroyed by rumble ult. Hopefully now that EG is actually practicing they'll be able to figure out how to play as a team, they have incredible individual skill but currently their teamwork is pretty lacking. You could see it when they started playing scrims again, just stupid stuff like nobody leashing blue for dan. Engaging can't get a team killed. Engaging has to do with positioning, and positioning gets one person like an ad carry killed because they weren't in position. 3 people were dying instantly, and that can only happen with aoe damage.

I'm waiting for Fnatic to kill the M5 hype and remind everyone who the best team in Europe is.

If all 5 people are together (which they were), then yes, AOE kills your entire team. How is that not related to positioning though? If your entire team decides to all move into the same small space, they're not losing because "aoe beats less aoe," they're losing because their positioning is terrible.
EDIT: Like the teamfight that just happened in the last EG vs. Goose scrim, where EG actually had a good teamfight. Kennen ults in, EG instantly seperates, only person caught in Kennen ult is salce who just pools it.

Fruitdealer is the korean SC2 zerg. I've seen this fruitbuyer guy in the NA liquidparty channel a few times I think.

I definitely remember seeing him somewhere. what i wonder is how guitar saw somebody with the name fruitbuyer and immediately suspected he might be a sc2 player despite having no idea who fruitdealer is?

Jiji has been undeported! Mostly because he sitting on the Couch Logic Gaming couch behind HSGG with his GF (different from the old couch that was undefeated against CLG)

What are some good troll strategies to play with a 5-man premade?
We tried a pure backdoor team (Singed, Yi, Kayle, Sivir, Sona), but it didn't really work. Then we tried Anivia, Singed, Yi, Tryndamere, Tristana, the idea being that Anivia can defend towers like a boss while the others backdoor. As soon as Anivia (me) died though they immediately took 2 towers, an inhibitor and their Wukong got a quadra kill.
I think a more moderate approach (2 backdoorers and 3 defenders) might be more feasible.
Also who the fuck beats Riven? I figured Teemo would do well but her gap closing is ridiculous and you need instant reaction time with Move Quick to not get stunned, plus her shield is hella gay. After she finished Wriggles she literally ignored me while I wailed on her and took barely any damage, with no magic resist runes or items. Like I was actually sitting there auto attacking her for a good 10 seconds before it even dented her health. I was up on farm, no kills, went Phage -> Wit's -> Ionic (I know it's kind of bad but it was for the BD team).

5 support team, 5 tank team, yordles (poppy, rumble, trist, kennen, veigar), stealth team (roaming eve, twitch bot, shaco jungle, wukong top and talon mid), Global ult team (GP, panth, nocturne, ashe, ezreal/TF) etc.

wtf? I'm watching Rain Man's stream. Somehow after going to Kiev he seems to have improved 2x over as a player in mechanics, attitude, map awareness, general skill.

Play vayne top. lollers strong with tumble+condemn she aint touchin you. Ryze also pretty good.

I've done yordle team, it's fun but it's more of a theme than a strategy. The fun part about the backdoor team is even when we lose (And we did, every game), the enemy team raged at us so hard all game long and in post-game chat.
