Before the word "sheep" was used in rare cases when someone was 100% surely a sheep. Now it slowly starts being a word that is used when someone has a different opinion than you and brings out some source. It may be not the case yet but believe me, when someone broadens the definition of a word on the internet it slowly starts to sound retarded (just like words "noob" and "troll" used to be very specific definitions but later became simply another words used to flame someone) and the word retarded :o

It's good to be a sheep. Bad to not be a sheep. Honestly, in Brood War all I did was copy builds from progamers. My friends who played just as much as I did, like to make up their builds. I was consistently able to get C rank from 2008-2009, while my friends were stuck at D+.
Even Dyrus says that every champion he plays outside of singed and jax is just copying what other people do. For example, he essentially copied Udyr from Rain Man, and a lot of other builds from random high ELO people in solo queue. He is easily able to get to top 50
On the other hand, Rain Man, who thinks everyone else is retarded for what they build, just makes up his own builds. Like triple dorans into PD , LW on solotop corki. He has a lot of trouble climbing solo queue ladder past top 200. Why? because he keeps on trying new stuff instead of copying what works, and loses a lot of games trying out this stuff.
Other solotop laners such as Wickd also just copy builds from other people, so I don't understand what's wrong being a sheep. It's rather silly comparing LoL pros to BW pros. One, LoL has a lot more variables (5v5 vs 1v1) and two, BW is a lot more established and "professional". With coaches and whatnot. Also, the time spent trying to figure out BW is probably 10x more than LoL. It doesn't help that LoL patches nonstop either.
I don't hink that LoL has more variables than BW. And even tho the time spent trying to figure out BW is much higher I don't think it is actually mapped out more. Just because it has much more deepness.
But besides that. It doesn't really matter. The pro players in either game understand it much much better than you. So it's actually smart to copy them and while doing so try do understand why they do it. So yea, it's fine to compare LoL to BW in that regard.

Or you just change the video mode in options to 'Windowed (Borderless)'.

3 pages about "sheep". You guys are so silly sometimes.
How I assess builds: 1. Mathcraft it. 9 times out of 10, the builds that you see pros do in tournaments are going to be the most "efficient" build. But that build may or may not be suitable for everyone. Try and see if there is some logical basis for your build. (Mathcraft logical is also why I take Smash's advice for face value. He does a ton of number crunching and it "makes sense")
2. Playstyle Chaox goes Trinity on Corki. In a sense, he's opting for utility over pure DPS. In Corki's case, he is very mana intensive, so Sheen/Trinity is a reasonable deviation from the usual BF builds. Your spell management lends to which Corki build you feel more comfortable with. If we're looking at Trist, there's no reason to opt Trinity+Wit's over any BF build. Cost efficiency is in BF builds favor and there is no visible benefit for Trinity.
3. Adaptation Build adaptation is most apparent when you're building defense. Laning vs Panth? Open Chain Vest, np. Going mid vs LeBlanc, you better get that Negatrons to prevent her from snowballing. But offensively, the same thing applies. Ring Ring Deathcap and Blade Blade BF are the go-to builds but they aren't the means all of AP and AD builds.

Hey guys, long time lurker here. Love the site, a real keystone for eSports.
I played SC2 for a while (Masters Zerg), untill I picked up LoL about 5 months ago. My handle is BaconSoup - current soloQ Elo 1720. I main AP mid.
To get the ball rolling, what do you guys think of Xerath? I've played a fair bit of him, love his mid-late game. However I feel that to be aggressive earlygame he is quite dependant on an early blue-buff, if he obtains it, gosh is he a bully - can easily force your opponent out or kill at lvl 6.

I honestly think he's the most underrated champion in this game and probably sleeper OP. His range is absurd, he melts tanks, his laning is hella strong, his ult CD ridiculously short. He has a CC that is relatively reliable, he has good bursting capabilities, AoE... There's nothing bad about him.

Yeah he should really build IE + PD on all ranged AD.

How would you lane Xerath btw? His Q is kinda slow, so do you use it to harass, or just push the lanes once you've got your rings for the mana sustain + wave-OS capability? I didn't manage to really be dominant or anything during the laning phase, and I wouldn't think anything about my mid-late because it mainly stems from that. I generally try to use Q to last hit (several minions at once if I managed my auto-attacks well), and if I'm pushed I'll just siege at tower and 2-3 shot the wave from there. I can't seem to get his combo off reliably either — E R Q R R Q or something like that, since R is much faster than Q. I can't really spam R to burst people when I need to kill them really fast tho, is there some animation canceling or something that I didn't manage to get the hang off to fire the salvo faster (I tried anim canceling but maybe I did it wrong)?

his q is guaranteed land if u position it correctly and they dont have something like gragas e and the reaction time to use it he has instant push capabilities so he can hold against pushes as well as push -> gank or pressure jungle as needed try smartcasting if you have problems casting r quickly? lol

Welcome to TL!
Xerath is stong. Super strong. I don't play a lot of AP mid but from my experience Xerath isn't any more blue buff reliant than a lot of champs. Certainly less so than Ani or Kass.

If you see creeps getting low, try to position them between you and your opponent ahead of time to get the harass and last-hit with the same Q. If you don't think you'll get blue for whatever reason (jungler is bad/getting counter-jungled/needs blue) go DFG Dan Dinh style. I wouldn't call it optimal, but neither is Xerath without blue buff.
During lane phase is where I pick up the most kills with Xerath, where he can unload all his spells on one person without fear of getting zerged. Once mid-game hits I usually proceed to die 5 times in a row because my positioning is terrible (I mostly play bruisers/champs with escapes).
