Here is the situation. One player never connects. 20 minutes in and it is clear we have no chance to win. The other team sucks, though, and isn't finishing the game quickly. there is easily another 20 minutes til they finish us off.
I personally want to move on to another game. However, another teammate declares that this is his last game of the night, and he wants to play it all the way out. My team refuses the surrender.
I decide to leave the game, and my teammates let me know I am reported. My question is, is it wrong to leave in that situation?
In my mind, I only find the game fun if there is a chance of winning, so for me it makes sense to leave. My teammates say they still find it fun even when the eventual outcome is decided (not conjecture that is what they said). So by leaving, I don't waste my time on an unfun (for me) game and my teammates can still enjoy their game, since they don't mind playing an unwinnable game. So their fun isn't lessened and I don't have to waste 20 minutes on something not worth my time.
Thoughts? I am not worked up about the issue, just curious what people think. This is not even a question if you think team games requires sportsmanship. There are plenty of football match where one team has so chance of winning, but they still play the full 90 minutes + times loss. Have you ever seen a world cup match that stop at half time because one team is losing too much? I think respect is needed for all games that involve more than one person.
There is no surrender button in real sports. There is also no paycheck for the vast majority of players in LoL. I don't like continuing a game of LoL if there's no chance for us to win. I've only left games a few times, when I've absolutely had to go do something. I've never done what the poster is describing, leaving because I know there's no chance of winning but my teammates are too stupid to surrender. But honestly I wouldn't care if someone did in one of my games.
There's no point of continuing a game if it's one you're losing and it's also a 4v5. Your real life equivalent would be like a game of baseball where one team only gets 7 players but the other team gets a full 9.

Some jungle observations:- Do a full clear, stonewall's route works well. Blue and Red are worth so much more exp than the small camps it isn't even funny. If you don't want to or can't don't bother jungling.
- Pick junglers with AoE abilities. Single target junglers suck because they can't farm fast enough and become poor.
- They should probably make it so it doesn't suck to be a single target jungler.
Also, I agree with some earlier sentiments, mini-golems need an exp buff or something because I ended up ignoring them after the first couple of clears. You honestly get as much/more exp from creeps dying around you as you gank and then clearing wraiths/wolves again.

I completely agree, in real sports situation, if someone quits or gets injured, you sub someone else in. I don't see why playing out a 4v5 is helpful in anyway, as Its not a realistic game situation, and i dont feel special about winning on either team. I start fucking around as soon as someones gone for 2-3 minutes cause its extremely boring, if Im on the 5 team Im pushing to win asap, and if Im on losing team Im trolling, If they would allow people to just quit no penalty(other than elo loss/game loss, I dont want it to be abusable) in games where one team is down a man for more than 3-5 minutes Id be super happy,

Tried picking Tristana, pop-up tells me she's disabled. Searched on GD, this comes up. Might be related to what Brees posted earlier about only being able to use summoners.

I am not worried about being banned, as others have inquired. I was just curious on peoples opinions on the "right" thing to do.
Someone else already pointed this out but your example is irrelevant since people are getting paid to play football or soccer (or a scholarship for college games). I am playing for the sole purpose of having fun, as are the other people in the game.
How is it unfair to my teammates if, as I pointed out, they conceded there was no chance of winning and they are playing on for fun? Why would my absence reduce their fun if they aren't playing to win at that point? Aren't my teammates in fact the ones being bad sports since my presence doesn't improve their experience but makes mine worse?

Here's how I've been looking at the jungle: Clear until level 4 with double buff, then you gank until buffs are up again. I feel that clearing the small camps is useless, you're better off given small camps to your lane and then take some minions when you go gank their lane.

how to play sivir: ult when a fight is breaking out throw Q's and put up spell shields when you're thinking you're going to get hit mash W if you're not doing anything above if getting focused, kite.
win
just carried some idiots and went 11-1-13 doing exactly this. also, carrying heal on the carry to save myself and anyone who is getting beat up helps.

Basically you are asking if two wrongs make a right. You can never control the actions of others, only what you do in response. Manner up. And fight till the bitter end.

The correct thing to do when confronted with a losing 4v5 game and your teammates won't surrender is to fight it out and constantly sledge the other team in the hope they get frustrated and lose.
|
if it's 4v5 and it's clearly going to be a loss, I wouldn't really care if another person left. but if it's still 5v5, then you're still playing on even footing and your pessimism isn't really an excuse for leaving.

Question: does the jungle change make Twisted Fate's passive worth considering now? Also are gold/10 items more important on junglers now?

It was always a tradeoff between gold/10 items or wriggles or simply getting your core items on junglers. Imo, gold/10 is even worse on junglers now because it delays your core wayyy too long; even more so than it did before.

Saint is really being extremely informative right now on his stream shoutcasting v8 vs. CLG

g/10 are much MUCH better now because you can get them sooo fast and every single jungler can start regrowth -> philo now. the jungle is so safe that you don't need cloth + 5 any more so if you're not opening boots, minus whale get double g/10 by 7 minute (very, very easily done). boom, they're paying off by the 12 minute mark and you start to soar in gold gains

Bleh, this patch is pretty much the definition of what I dont like in LoL as a competitive game... How can you take a game seriously when the rules completely change every two weeks :/ Jungle was fine I dont get what it achieved nerfing it... Nerfing red buff a little would have been enough by far imo.

might as well?
but yeah, i agree that if you aren't starting boots, your options are realistically lifesteal scep or regrowth pen imo. anything else just seems like a waste of gold and poor efficiency on your sustain.
