I played Leona for the first time last night, and I had a lot of fun with her. I was jungling (which was very poor, took FOREVVERRRRRRR, I was probably doing it wrong), and my ganks were super powerful. In team fights I was so disruptive, and I really loved it. I was able to carry Gandhi's heavy ass.

I think I'm going to start playing her as support. 0/21/9 looks best to me, but what are best starting items? Boots + ward + pot?

In the new jungle you aren´t supposed to keep up the respawns. The banking system was introduced to lessen the impact of the junglers that could "keep up". Camps still are worth the most Gold per minute if you kill them on respawn but don´t loose as much value while they are alive.
An interesting consequence is that blueside bottom taking their minigolems now actually decreases their junglers income slightly instead of not at all.
I´m certain there will be more tweaks to the XP and Gold values but the jungle will never be like it was after the mastery changes.

I don't care what the jungle will never be like, I'm pointing out what it is now. The remake is a mess that's both poorly balanced and doesn't even accomplish some of Riot's basic goals. Let's review:

1) Junglers who can't keep up with the respawn timers are not viable. It doesn't matter if Riot thinks we aren't supposed to keep up with respawn timers (where did they even say that?), that's how it is currently and there are too many strong AoE champions for them to nerf (I can think of a dozen at least).
2) Banking in its current implementation is worthless. 4g and 30 exp for two full minutes of ignoring a creep camp is pathetic "compensation". In that time you could have cleared it twice for 20 freaking times as much gold and 10 freaking times as much exp. How does that even make sense?
3) Jungling isn't more accessible. In fact, it's so inaccessible that anyone who tries it sub-30 is going to wonder why the hell anyone else thinks it's a good idea.
4) Counter-jungling is not as deep as before. Riot wants it to be that deep, but it's essentially impossible with 50/60 second respawn timers on the small camps.

The "we're not going back to the old jungle" argument because it's a red herring. Yes, there's maybe a 1% change of returning to the old jungle style, but that has nothing to do with how broken the current jungle is.

~62% max. It scales multiplicatively, not additively. We covered that just a day or so ago. For the 14714th time.
If you have a good reason to disagree with the above, please tell me. Thank you.

And here's the reason why Riot went to nerf the jungle.

For it to be 80% MPen his W would have to give him 62,96% MPen.

Another aside: why is Riot's client team so damn incapable of adding options for things that are already possible by editing their text files?

The move to the RADS patching system meant disabling certain elements of the UI/Client Modification. While it could be possible to add some features back in, the cost-benefit from spending engineering time on it is pretty low. Realistically speaking, how many people would honestly use things like range indicators on spellcast with the spell being used on release of the keyboard? Not many. Therefore the time is not worth spending. The UI and PvP team are pretty backed up as is.

I can say they are looking at range indicators on aura abilities so you know how far away from your team you can be and still let them benefit from the aura if you're trying to kite someone but still need to be close to your team. I've also talked to them about adding in range indicators to show autoattack distance, especially for champs like Tristana.

Wow, Leona is really strong. Running 0/21/9 with CV/Heal, and I feel like an absolute beast in lane and in teamfights. Leona has a lot of burst in lane (as long as the teammate is watching to proc her passive), and her ult's sheer stopping power is way more than it seemed at first glance.

edit: also show up to lane with 339 ms without boots is pretty damn awesome

Leona supah good for aggressive support bot. No sustain though so you want to be able to burst someone down fast. Ez/Trist+Leona is pretty neat. Constantly proccing those sunlight procs. And a 1200 range AoE Stun is nuts.

You add to your friend list any guy you meet and don't perform terribly, and duo queue. He doesn't need to be GOOD, just better than the randoms you'll meet.

Get a random Skype account and invite any players you're with to join you. Even with random people, voice chat gives you a huuuge advantage.

That or find people to queue with you who aren't derps.

So I'm unsure if people have already done this analysis, so I apologize if it's old hat, but I wanted to investigate the effect of Executioner, the 21 point talent in Offense.

Text reads: "Increases damage dealt by 6% to targets below 40% health."

My questions basically were this:
  • Does it apply to on-hit items?
  • Does it affect smite?
  • Will it only proc when the target is below 40% health or do you get the 6% on whatever portion of damage that occurred below 40%? In other words, if someone has 41% health and you hit them for 1000, do they get hit for somewhere near 1060 or do they get hit for near 1000?
  • Does it affect Red buff?

So, here are my findings. They're trivial to reproduce. I have some video and pictures, but it's so meaningless to post them because there's nothing hard to the recreation. I just used Udyr in a custom game and tanked big buffs in Turtle to avoid extraneous damage.

Does it apply to on-hit effects?
Turns out the answer to this is: yes. Wit's End and Malady both gain 6% damage when the target is below 40% health.

Does it apply to smite?
No. Smite is unaffected by this talent.

Does it only work if the target is below 40% or does any damage that falls below 40% cause it to proc?
I've never seen an intermediate value. I've only ever seen my hits do the normal hit or the 6% more hit. I've never seen an intermediate value. This seems unlikely that I always EXACTLY hit 40% health on all the mobs, so I think this is conclusively proven.

Does it apply to red buff?
No it does not.
This lead me to my biggest discovery through all of this: Executioner does not apply to true damage. Thinking this was the reason I saw no increase in the red buff or smite damage, I loaded up a game with Irelia and tried it out on the jungle mobs. Her W bonus does not scale when the target is below 40%. Additionally, the 6 damage returned to mobs from Bladed Armor does not appear to scale but it is too insignificant to really notice even if it did.

Anywho, hope this helps someone. If this was already discussed before, sorry! But I was just curious if classic Saint strategy of "fast-smiting" big buffs was the new optimal strategy if you go 21 in Offense. Turns out it is as long as you're not afraid of it being stolen from you. However, the true damage not scaling issue is particularly interesting, and I'm not sure if it's not a bug.

Edit:After doing some reading it's intended behavior because that's what "true" damage means, I suppose. Oh well, good to have it confirmed I suppose.

Anyone ever tried Support Teemo? I've been playing him in lane with AD carries lately, blinding the enemy AD, sitting stealthed in bushes, free wards, etc. I did this a long time ago, but recently did it again for kicks and have been having a blast with it.

yea, it's pretty fun. especially when you get to hang your carry out to dry by just staying stealthed in the brush when a gank comes :troll:

I never got to really prove it because I'm too bad to lasthit while harassing as Annie (I'm like, HORRIBLE), but I still feel like Annie actually beats Kass if you set her runes/masteries up like a ranged AD (you don't need the crit masteries of course, try to get both MPen and +5% AP, didn't try it with new masteries yet) and go to town on Kass with autoattacks. Should be WAY stronger now after the range nerf to Kass Q and the minion damage nerf. Not sure who gets the better end of the new masteries.
Same thing goes for Annie vs Sion, just nuke his shield down 24/7 and spam autoattacks.

Biggest issue: Jungle ganks.
The loss of some AP/MPen runes isn't that big if you win your lane because of it.

Minions will still rape you if Kass is smart about his positioning. AAs are not the way to go vs Kass as a Mage.

Vlad with full MR runes is the way to go /o/
