Here's the story from PhantomLords side. Edit: Listening to it now. lawl. "I DID SO MUCH GOOD MANAGEMENT WORK, I DESERVE TO PLAY CUZ IT IS MY DREAM AFTER ALL!!!" Edit #2: However, the whole last minute drama is pretty fucking gay. Way to be "professional" from everyone involved.

It took me a long time to recover from Kass being axed out of solo lanes (I woulda been lost without being able to fall back on support heroes), and you can always tell when Smash is struggling via his hero being nerfed when his rank plummets, tends to take him a month or so to find something else :>

I'm up in the air between Skarner (always liked him on free weeks, now he has buffs), Graves (looks fun), or Kennen (need an AP carry, don't like standard mages). I'd hold off on Graves, buying day 1 means you don't get to play him (everyone else buys and instalocks) and don't waste money on a champ that may fade into obscurity quickly. Out of the other two, Kennen is actually fucking OP, but no one plays him. He's a ranged AP with relatively huge auto range, stuns, built in Ghost, and a massive AoE shitstorm. I'm surprised I don't see him more often, actually.

Way to be "professional" from everyone involved. Pretty much this However Eski only joined v8 a couple weeks before qualifiers. While it was apparent during post-qualifier practice/scrims that the team had issues, his options were: -"Hey, I know I just joined and that we successfully qualified for IEM NY with you as team captain, but I think you should..." and risk causing a split before the tourney or even not being a starter because he had not built enough clout with the team. or -Just go along with it, maybe they'll even let my friend takashi join the team as a sub, and this PLord guy is doing a lot of work looking for sponsors. Since even the last-place team in IEM gets $2,000 I think that it was clearly worth it even if they were predestined to lose, just for the tourney experience and name-recognition. Kicking out PL was more a result of team chemistry/coherence than player skill (though his akali is laughably bad)

And some players really are just 'that much' better at a select few heroes, so it's really hard for them to pick up another one that plays very differently. Back in the day my Kassadin was top-tier and I wasn't "bad' at other heroes, but you could tell a distinct difference in the level of impact I would have on games.
