Rune bundle oh too necessary.

Basically, LoL is a source of entertainment. People are perfectly happy to spend $10-15 for a 2 hour movie or several hundred for sports tickets or a round of golf. Just because LoL CAN be free doesn't mean it's optimal for everyone; many people are perfectly happy to pay for aesthetics or saving dozens (if not hundreds) of hours of grind. No one should criticize another for their preferences on how to spend hard earned money and time on their entertainment.

At the time of posting i have bought 3 25$ cards and 1 10$ card. Your ranges are a bit small though, maybe it should have been 10-50, 50-100 etc. I see that now, I didn't think so many people spent over 50$ to be honest! :o pretty interesting =) It's not hard to justify to one's self though. Especially if you're like me, and come from a WoW or other MMO background. I had no problem with the $15/30day fee because I feel like I got at least 50 cents worth of entertainment a day. And, since I didn't buy a whole lot of other games at the time, $15 for a month of game when I normally spent $50+ on a console/PC game that only lasted a week or so was a great deal. So for LoL, I've spent about $65 dollars over time on champs and skins, which is about what I'd pay for a game, and LoL has lasted a long time of enjoyment. Money well spent. Yeah, for those of us with income, tossing some money in the ring to get cool stuff [faster] is pretty much fine, especially when you have limited time and grinding isn't something you really care to do. Tournament realm is usually 1 patch behind so IPL was Riven patch.

The problem with runes is that they are NECESSARY. I can understand them being high priced if there were fewer of them so that, say, you only needed 2 or 3 sets for optimal play on every champ. But this just isnt the case. I have 15+full sets of runes and are STILL missing ones that I would love to have.
It just isnt fair that optimal play REQUIRES sinking a tremendous amount of IP into rune purchases that can very easily change due to people finding better combos.
In all honesty, I would rather see all champion IP prices double and have all rune prices halved, and then have a MASSIVE reduction in the cost of runes if you buy multiple at the same time (buy 2, get 1 free, buy 6, get 3 free) simply because of how important they are.

You should have 10 mastery points at level 1 and 30 by level 20.

Why not simply make runes need to be purchased once instead of nine times? So I buy the Example Rune once and can then place it in any (and all) valid slots in a rune page? Obviously you would want to increase the base price of the rune to compensate, perhaps to 5x or 6x (perhaps double for quints) what it is now but that still represents a ~33% decrease in rune prices.

So if I buy the AP/lvl rune, I can then use it in every slot, red, blue, yellow, quint, how many ever I want. I like this idea a LOT.

That's how I thought it worked in the first place when I started buying runes, saddened to realize it was not so. I think it might be too much of a problem to change it at this point. How much to you compensate someone who bought 9 runes already? Well that one is easy, of course.
What about someone who bought less runes, though? I only bought enough flat AD reds to activate my passive on Akali, so will I get compensated the IP, or do I owe IP, or what?

Well if you want to do a change in system, the only thing that is actually fair is to remove and refund ALL runes of EVERYONE, and then let them buy the runes back themselves.
That would most likely take quite some effort to do, though.

That's what I thought about the runes in the first place, I was like...how dumb is it that I need to unlock 9x of something instead of simply unlocking a rune type? I mean this ain't the 90s, streamline when it makes sense.

That would most likely take quite some effort to do, though. That's the most workable solution, to be quite honest. However, like you said, that would be a bit of a project to take on, and I don't think a game that's this young (and yes 2 years is young for a game like this) needs such a large change when they're still investing resources on things like new maps, champions, and their eSports initiative.
