I'd like CDR boots a lot more if bluebuff + 9/0/21 masteries didn't give 34% CDR once you're level 18.

I only get swifties on singed because the impact of merc treads with his ult on is negligible.

Almost every other time I get merc or cdr boots, and in very few situations I'll spring for zerkers instead.

I've never been a fan of sorc boots, the 20 MPen never seemed as appealing as being silenced for less time.

edit: I don't play Anivia because I'm terrible with her and like the other mages a lot more, but I would probably get it on her too since she has abysmally low movespeed

Rumble's ult is easy, just tap R and swipe, it's not any easier to screw up with smartcast.

I love ninja tabi on Singed, but I also love Mercs on him. Anyway, I'm always running nimbleness on him, so I guess my point is that I think Ninja tabi are better in every single way than Swifties.

Iunno...I just feel like swifties are just terrible on every champ in 99% of situations. They offer nothing but 20 movespeed, which is very neglible especially when considering on range AD you'll be getting a zeal/PD anyways, which will increase your movespeed a good amount. With just Zerks/Zeal you already have over 400 movespeed. Upgrade to PD and your movespeed is like 420+. Movespeed has diminishing returns so if you get swifties that extra bit is wasted. Not only that but Zerks give a very noticeable increase in attack speed and lets you kite and dps better.

For AP champs, I only get sorcs if I dring stack and I can get it super early. Otherwise, CDR boots are just too good. Swifties could be useful, but the thing is, they're only ever good in laning. Past that, 20 extra movespeed isn't going to do shit, while having a skill of cooldown a second or two early can make or break fights.

on ashe with swifties+pd you'll have 425 ms wich is only barely over 415 where diminishing returns begin so you lose only a tiny little bit of ms (like 1-2 points). That is only if you actually finish pd which is not allways the case and it's around mid-late game by then.

The diminishing return is not a real factor and its definitely not wasted from a math point of view. The real question is: Do you actually do more damage with zerkers or with swifties? If you stand still then the answer is simple but when do you stand still with ashe or most other ad carries anyways? Almost never. If your safely hitting a turret or dragon/baron then you stand still. In any kind of combat you'll be moving around between shots, kiting or chasing. Then theres the rare circumstance where you would trade blows with another AD carry but well that is highly unlikely and ashe gets outdpsed by most other carries with similar farm anyways since she doesnt have a steroid.

Then there's tylers observation about the laneing phase where you also never stand still and trade blows but move around trying to land skills or w/e. I'am pretty sure there are some undiscovered things that you can do with swifties on several ranged ap/ad carries. And again they are cheap as fuck.

edit:

I agree on this. with singed and most other bruisers you should get tabi if you want additional ms and can skip mercs. But this is only because you get hit alot. On a ranged ad/ap carry you move around so you dont get hit which is a completely different thing. There you rather want the base MS and not a nimbleness proc.

i just use ctrl as smartcast modificator and on my keybord that means i just have to press a part of my hand down, no impact on my fingers, why do people not do that and instead either always smartcast or never smartcast?

With TF/Nocturne you should be checking the range before you cast by mousing over the icon (since the first activation doesn't have any range and using the first activation without being in range to TP is retarded), so it shouldn't matter.

I don't agree on TF and Panth.
When you are far enough you can simply hove over R to see your ult indicator.
I do it all the time with Nocturne (when I want max range).
Right now I can almost always tell his range without indicator (And his range changes with each lvl of R).

I don't play fiddle so I have no idea about him. But I would guess it's exactly same as panth and tf..
But I'd agree on Lux here (only bc she has no circle)

Swifties aren't "cheap as fuck" imo.

The only boots that really applies to are zerkers. The upgrade from boots 1 -> zerks costs less than getting 25% attack speed from daggers or recurve (570 gold gets you 25% attack speed and 20 ms; getting 25% attack speed should cost you about 650 gold based on dagger or recurve bow). The extra movespeed on zerks is free.

Swifties are 650 gold for 40 movespeed.

as for ganking, fast or not wards will see them...I personally hate mobility/swift boots and ive never bought either in my 2 years or whatever it is of playing this game

wat
zerkers are 570
mobos are 650
sorcs are 750
mercs are 850

try mobos on TF and nocturne - be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to gank despite wards

Does anybody seriously not get zerkers on carries (unless you're playing Trist, and even then Q doesn't have a good uptime)? I sometimes sell them and buy mercs later on if I'm really dying from cc, but zerkers are such a cheap way to get the ASPD to go along with your IE I don't see how anybody could live without it.

I noticed a lot of players go (okay mainly Pobelter)
boots1 -> ninja tabi
philostone -> eleisa's miracle

good, cost effective item choice since it takes care of the tenacity issue that comes from not buying merc treads.

I should probably run ninja tabi and nimbleness but I'm usually to troll to get defense.

I main Lux and switched to smart cast fairly recently. I don't have my R binded as smart cast but I'm going to start smart casting it. I rebinded the normal versions of the spells as shift+q, shift+w, and shift+e for when I want to get my spells off at maximum range.

This will be especially effective very soon when they upgrade the Tenacity on the non-Boots items to 35 so not everyone has to buy Mercs.
Not sure when this is happening but I remember seeing a red confirmation.
