Leona does this by providing a low-cooldown, low-duration, single-target stun with a skillshot gap-closer to start. After she closes the gap to the enemy, she’ll be performing regular single-target stuns that really disrupt the fight or peel off a target from an ally once a fight has begun. Additionally, she has a defensive stance that allows her to soak up punishment pretty effectively and also discharges a wave of sunlight outward that causes significant damage. This mechanic acts as a sort of “soft taunt” that causes her to have some threat when she’s about to unleash a big chunk of damage, and makes her an attractive target. U D Y R what the fuck riot? After that you really don't need more damage and my standard build goes: FoN, Randuins, finish with Shurelyas Reverie. Chaox uses same build, can improvise if you need more of something in specific. | ||

She's not the only champ with a skillshot initiation skill--hers just happens to be long range and comparatively difficult to fuck up. And Leona's initiating stun will probably not have ECA's range or enormous hitbox. Most likely it will be more comparable to Bandage Toss, Rocket Grab, or Light/Dark Binding. It'll be strong, but putting it in the same league as ECA is just needless sensationalizing. If anything, Amumu is the most relevant comparison. Skillshot stun/gap closer, persistent AoE damage, passive debuffs target with increased damage taken (-MR in Amumu's case), and, if they keep her ult, wide-area AoE CC. Actually, these comparisons are pretty pointless seeing as every champ Riot designed as a "tank" has these elements, to varying degrees of OPness (Jarman, Malphite, Alistar, etc.). | ||
