Herpderp, aegis is good item, please get if you want to buy it early. If you hold onto the damn cloth armor until the 5th or 6th slot though you might as well make it GA or frozen heart.
Heart of gold real shitty item, don't buy on tank because it delays your sunfire cape for no reason. Maybe still good on squishies who just want free survivability for late-game.
Or actually it's pretty good on support champs. I didn't absolutely need the armor on Janna for the most part anyways. Slightly more HP and cheaper es welcome.

18:40 and still no servers, FML. Might even have to go out on a Friday night, real.

Once you need the inventory slot at like 20 minutes into the game, you can sell it for a net loss of 90 gold, which you can think of as "renting" it for 5 gold/minute. Why would you not get Aegis then? It's only real downside is that it's not slot-effective lategame, and if you're holding onto an item that's not slot-effective anyway, it might as well be a good one.
Aegis is a great item and usually the only reason is if someone else is getting it. I was addressing a poster who seemed lost that you could no longer turn it into a HoG and felt that you absolutely had to make something.

I wasn't implying that you should get it late. It should be fairly straightforward that getting Aegis lategame is pretty lackluster, and that other cloth armor-based options will have opened up by then.

Sometimes as a ranged carry you need to open cloth + 5 pot and you don't need to build madreds, wriggles, or GA so you can just sell it.

I'm going back to D-shield as my standard opening on ranged carries, hur~ Not having wriggles or HoG as options really killed cloth + 5 pot for me.

Kindlegem on Janna.
I can't think of anyone I would get HoG on, unless I want to build Randuin's for the Active/Passive.

Quit killing my buzz I happen to like the gold/5 generating mechanism on my support as it ensures I have enough gold for wards even if I accomplish absolutely nothing for several minutes.
Kindlegem es good item too but I build that anyways; they're not mutuality exclusive.

I found myself not really liking Wriggles/HoG on ranged carries anyway, though I don't think DShield is necessarily a great default. I think Boots+3pot is more common, though really, it varies champ to champ (e.g. Boots+3pot is great on Ashe, but I'd prefer DShield or Blue Crystal+2pot on Corki).
Cloth+5pot on ranged carries just felt like the choice for when you had a rough lane and really needed that anti-physical and lots of potions. If you could get away with something else, it was pretty much always better to not go cloth+5pot IMO.

Wriggle's is still sprstrong IMO.

Would you agree that this is actually a slight buff to Olaf jungling?

Previously with rank 1 W active and Wriggles, you had 23% lifesteal. Now with rank 1 W, you get 27% lifesteal on normal attacks and 9% spellvamp on Wriggle's procs. The net effect? A loss of 14% lifesteal on Wriggle's procs and a gain of 4% on regular autoattacks--the same as anyone else.
It's not like his W is ONLY a spellvamp steroid. You gain the ability to vamp off Madred's procs, but you lose an equal amount of lifesteal from them, so the net loss is the same as everyone else.
|
spellvamp doesn't work on wriggle's procs..
edit: it only works on active ability damage
lifesteal worked with the old wriggle's procs because those were added directly to your attack damage
|
Man philo stone indeed competes with HoG really well now, all depends how much of an HP padding you feel you need. Even if you don't get hit much, you don't want to be SO squishy that they can overcommit on you and actually get away with it. Dependent mostly on what your enemy team is like; vs Kassa you don't pick philo over hog. Actually maybe then you ditch both and go straight for drings + banshee iono~
Wriggles still super duper jungling item but no more of that wiggle = win lane stuff anymore.

If anything, that means this change hurts Olaf MORE than other junglers because he had additional natural lifesteal that he no longer benefits from on Madred's procs. Not really a big deal, as Olaf was such a strong jungler to begin with.
