They had fidds with 10+ mejaj stacks, more than enough to rip through our whole team. Their TF is basically ulting every 60 seconds and picking off whoever isnt with the group, which is irelia time and again. We stole a baron, then our derp irelia and malphite went off derping and we blew through the buff. Got aced immediately after, had 2 inhibs down. We were gonna lose. Then the amazing happens. Our karma, after doing nothing all game, rage afk's. We somehow defend until our inhibs come back up, then we are able to pick off fids, then win a 4v4. Irelia and I (im on corki) live and are able to get their 3 mid towers, the first ones we had gotten all game long. We go back to playing defense, then start 4 man roaming. Once again, we pick off fids, then morde, then janna. TF at this point ults into our base to take down our 2 inhibs. Realizing there is nothing we can do, I immediately call for a base race. Take down mid inhib, 2 nexus turrets, GG before TF can even port back to help. We won 4v5, down 20 kills, and having lost the game on at least 2 different occasions. That is the worst way to lose a game, piss away a sure victory.

Funneling a lane's farm into 1 person is pretty much going to be the optimal way to do things. Please stop pretending that you feel like the word "meta" shouldn't be used like everyone in a gaming environment does. The english language is based on bastardizing latin and greek terms and roots, if you don't like the term you should look into your personal vocabulary and remove all the foreign words that the english language contains that are miswritten or have a completely different meaning from their original language. But to add to your statement, it's interesting how after the "solo lane xp nerf" patch the jungler is always on par with the solo lanes, with only the duo lane lagging behind. And in a 1-1-1 team only the roamer is left having duo-lane exp, which is a pretty big hint to the strategy being optimal on paper.

I'm not making any implications about how I feel the word should be used. I'm merely pointing out that the most common use of the word "meta" in this context seems to suggest that it's a way of playing the game that's going to change. Which I'm not sure it is.

For example is the general idea that the roamer keeps switching lanes and thus leeching a bit of exp from every lane whilst making up for his loss in EXP with increased counter-jungeling and ganking power? Also, what champions do you believe are suitable for this role? It sounds like an intresting concept wich could very well be as popular as the jungler has become, but since i haven't much experience i find it hard to come up with a lot of examples of how it would work and in what champions it is best.

The idea is that at any one time, certain champions might have advantages and disadvantages in lane. Having a roaming champion can help equalize those disadvantages or press advantages, especially for someone like taric who can heal and stun. I'm not sure its a strategy that will work well in solo q unless both teams are doing it just from a sheer lack of communication, but i could see it working well in arranged 5s.

Of course the way people play the game is going to change.. this is one of the most rapidly changing games ever as far as I know.. new heroes all the time, new patches all the time, new ways to play old heroes all the time. There are very few large tournaments for this game, and I must say the competitive community does not seem that strong to me. To say that the way people understand the game now won't change eventually is a huge statement. I come from a Magic the gathering background where "metagame" is common knowledge term, idk why the starcraft community doesn't it like it so much.
