Mundo outdamages irelia pre-6 and if you don't take ignite mundo can win after 6 too unless you're fighting in like, a double creep wave to heal on with her r. Corki, MF, and ezreal also can do well vs her, especially corki. Cho does well vs her too but that is essentially a free farm lane since neither can really kill one another if either play smart.

Irelia last hits too well. Even a hard lane it's easy to get a ton of CS with bladesurge on the tower.

This is driving me mad, why don't just take down the server when it so obviously doesn't work. Lost so much rating from getting a auto-loss for thinking "oh the fixed the server today" only for it to crash during the game.

Items for Irelia (Irelia is not that item depended, so build what you feel...and depend of ur lane and enemy comp of course )

Basic Items (early game):

Start with:

When you base first time @ lv7-8, u should get

Swain also will crush Irelia in lane, since she has no fast way to get out. I think in blind queue you should make sure your team always has someone who can handle her solo top or someone who can shut her down in teamfights.

Fast Trinity is boss
Guardian Angel is tied for my favorite Defensive Item with Banshee's Veil on her

I literally never get HoG or Catalyst or Lantern on her quickly. Sheen + Vamp Scepter is all that's really set in stone early. Trinity before tanking out is incredibly common and incredibly powerful. Stark's is recommended over BT if you don't get lantern to utilize your True Damage better and benefit your team.

Why in fucks name would you ever get the 2nd point of defensive mastery before the first point in Hardened Skin when you already have 3 in Armor?

And skill order is 100% preference. I've tried them all and my current order is QEWQER -> R > W > E > Q. It really doesn't matter that much though, all her abilities are crazy good.

hmm depend on ur playstyle, I got inspired by wickd, my build is 90% copied from him..
I like to get Sheen only then just go pure tanky. I have never tried Guardian Angel on Irelia yet...

btw I started playing Irelia last week when I saw wickd's Irelia raping Cho and Gragas solo top, and I was like WTFFFF...

and Irelia already started getting banned on EU 2 weeks ago rolf..

Wicked is kinda well known for doing builds that are not recommended at all.

IIRC Atlanta always rushed triforce (i think his build is just like Smash describes - triforce+vamp scepter into survivability) and from my experience the power boost you get after triforce is enormous. Once you get boots 2 + vamp scepter + triforce you can finish your afk-farming and go ace the enemy team, gg.

don't even get wriggles/HoG/catalyst until after triforce
usually sheen + boots, vamp + zeal/phage, finish triforce, thirster/cleaver/starks, tank for me
she's durable enough to survive the first 25 minutes without tank items

she hits hard enough to rape people without more than triforce though.

as a melee character, as soon as you're able to kill people reasonably quickly, extra income should be spent on defensive items IMO. And you should care about my opinion on this as Melee characters are basically what I do, what I've always done and what I'll continue to do. I've frequently lost games because I've been like, "LOL, I'm 10-0 pantheon, time to get my 2nd Bloodthirster," and then found myself getting insta-gibbed before I could afford a BV or GA but I've never lost a game because I got a Banshee's Veil instead of going overboard on offensive items.

the other thing that's worth mentioning on Irelia is Wit's End, as Irelia + WW with wit's end will absolutely rape certain lineups by just outlasting them and then rendering them helpless by depleating their mana pool. This is typically something I consider after BV against burst heavy tank teams.

uh, I have 1 % less death time from buying a champion bundle, I have 3 gold/secs because it's boss on Supports. no XP gain though, I can't really picture a scenario in which I'd want those.

EDIT: actually, this brings up a pretty big misconception that I see a lot...

Gold/5 quints are essential on Supports IMHO. In my games, you're typical support will end up with 10-20 cs in a <25 minute game and like 20-40 in really long games. Under these circumstances, having Gold/5 quints, greed, and 1 or 2 fast Gold/5 Items is an absolute necessity IMO.

Basically, any time I play with Clairvoyance, I run MPen/Armor/MRes/GOLDp5, 0/9/21, open fairy charm + 3 pots + ward, rush 1 philostone and 1 HoG or Kage's at least, regardless of character.

This might be really ineffective at low elo play where CS would be missed out on, but again, in the game's I play, this is support as we know it. Typically you'll lane with a singed/Malph/Nasus/Shen and your lanemate will have comparable CS to all the solo lanes if you're doing your job right.

The way I see it, gold/5 quints most efficiently translate into wards. Other champs can rune for appropriate stats at better gold value (HP, ArPen, AP, etc.) than gold/5 gives for most of the game--but since you can't "rune" for map sight, and since that's primarily where a large portion of support gold goes, gold/5 is actually useful for getting more wards on supports.

ruby crystal = 180 HP/475 Gold = ~0.38 HP/Gold

HP Quint = 26 HP = 68.6 Gold

So a Gold Quint will pay off an HP Quint in value by the 12 minute mark.

amp tome = 20 AP/435 Gold = ~0.046 AP/Gold

AP Quint = 4.95 AP = 107.7 Gold

So a Gold Quint will pay off an AP Quint in value by the 18 minute mark

In most games, the net gold value that you get from a Gold Quint will be higher than any other quint, HOWEVER, the value it gives is over time, and not immediate, so you don't get that full benefit early in lane, which is what most characters want from their runes. But, when you're not killing any creeps, having that extra income to fuel more investments in extra income (Philo stone) will yield a relatively large net effect on your gold earned per game.

2 Exp Quints will allow you to get to level 2 just from Red Buff. I used that on Eve before she was nerfed; ganking with red + stealth before mid hit lvl 2. Right now I don't see much use in Exp quints unless it's for a very specific matchup where hitting a key level before your opponent does will win the lane.

I personally much prefer setting Janna up for a really strong earlygame. APen/flat MP5/MReslvl/flat HP5 is what I use currently, open with DShield usually (and something along the lines of 0/13/17). Allows me to harrass a ton while my ally is completely free to farm. Gold/10 would be nice to have (I have a set of those too), but I prefer securing the lane more firmly so my ally can outfarm the enemies.

I did pretty much the same with Sona back then (and probably still could, but now she fails so hard mid/lategame without lots of farm that I don't play her anymore). I won bottom lane almost always when I played Sona or Janna.
I don't play other supports all that much, but imo if you cannot get into your enemies' faces during laning then you fail as a support. And try APen instead of MPen, at least on all the ranged supports. Godlike.
