While in US its like everyone picks whatever the fuck they want and people just make it work in the end. Whos to blame? Do we need like fnatic/SK to stop running support/ad bot for people to change their mind on this? Soutlight (I think?) is advocating the burst duos bot to counter support/ad but its weird that none of the top teams are picking up on this if its indeed the better strat? | ||

love the split <3 btw: im still pretty new to the game and wondered if Poppy has any place righ now in ladder? i have never seen her beeing played once in a ranked game and not that often in general. why do people not play her? | ||

In US there's more of an understanding that 1) people aren't actually playing top-tier ranked 5s and 2) the EU fotm style isn't the end-all be-all. Re: Poppy She's quite good. In fact I hate playing against her. She takes finesse to play (is tricky) and is a bit hit-or-miss depending on matchup and your team's composition though. She's fun when you start rolling though :p And almost all heroes are viable in some way or form, just that others are more consistent than others. | ||

Before I begin, I want to digress a little and talk about Jungle Udyr. 8+ patches ago, Jungle Udyr was fun as well. With Locket and stance dancing, he was a walking mini fountain. Add in the fact that Phoenix had godly AOE procs, he was a solid pick. Since then Udyr's Phoenix got nerfed and slightly rebuffed again last patch. Tiger went from useless to somewhat useful (sometimes novelty) but not exceptional. Compared to other Junglers, Udyr was great in the jungle. Tiger is fast DPS, Phoenix is AOE DPS, good times. Ganks were ok, as long as there was some team coordination to ensure Udyr got into some enemy's face while in Bear. But late game, Udyr is f'ing awful. And it's the late game fall off why every premiere NA jungler (saint, OddOne, Kobe, etc) will not pick Udyr unless it's a fun game. In short, Udyr gets kited way too easily. All the other good Junglers/Tanky DPS have some sort of ranged gap closer, Udyr doesn't. While he is chasing that Ranged DPS or AP Carry, Udyr will get kited into oblivion. It doesn't matter how farmed you are if you can't get up close to do damage. Fast forward to today, Lanedyr is taking the stage largely due to The Rain Man and solo q. Solo Top is all about Lane Sustainability. If you can't outlane that means you won't outfarm. You'll end up behind in the long run. Equipped with Turtle and a Wriggle's, Udyr doesn't budge from lane in most 1v1. Udyr vs Yorick argument should not even be an argument tbh. Udyr has Forever Lane Stance, Stun Stance and DPS Stance. Yorick has an AOE slow, Leech and Speed up. In a team fight, I don't see how it's even comparable. Yorick as a pseudo-Revive for pete's sake. Not to mention his kit does more in a team fight than Udyr can. (Good AOE slow with one spell, drop three minions that will make Yorick better and act as bodies for skill shots, etc) What can a farmed solo Top Udyr bring? A Tank that can only stun when in melee range and some DPS. Who cares if you can Turtle Stance and tank if you can't peel. The worst thing about Udyr in a team fight is deciding who to go for. You want to try to dive for that AP Carry? Oh hey Annie has a Stun, Malz has a Stun, Brand has a Stun, Cass has a Slow, Kass Jumps away, etc. Want to dive that DPS Carry? Cait nets/traps you, Corki Jumps away, Ashe Frost Arrow kites you, Trist can Jump and Buster Shot you away. Starting to see the recurring theme here? While you try to dive for the Squishies, the enemy team will make sure you never reach there if their Tanks play smart and peel you off. To do anything, you have to run on your feet and that really sucks. Enemy tanks/junglers on the other hand? Amumu bandage, WW ulti is an instant jump, Noc jump. Jarvan jumps, Irelia jumps. Most of the time, Udyr never reaches his target to justify the amount of damage he has to take while trying to get there. End of story. | ||

He is cursed methinks. Pretty sure that's a general feeling. I feel awkward trying to Jungle Fiddle in non 5 man. The coordination for a good ulti just takes so much effort. The idea of "hey, we have a Fiddle, let's bait a team fight for him" is too hard to conceive. | ||

I play Poppy when I want a free win. She destroys the EU style bottom lanes if either the ranged or the support is bad, and you're pretty much guaranteed one of those in solo queue. Once you have lane advantage it's very easy to keep it and zone people out, or you can roam around and pick on the enemy jungler, both of which help your team as well as getting you farmed. She also has a ridiculous lategame, and considering how people at my Elo are notoriously bad at finishing games, even if you feed a bit at the start you can come back and annihilate people. Also, since she's not much played, not many people know how to deal with her. I notice people often underestimate her damage or the damage increase from her ult, or don't account for her passive when trying to 1v1 or dive her, or forget that she can pin you to a broken tower in the middle of the lane. It gives you a lot of free kills against bad players. | ||

She's still good just need to build around her since she has zero CC and zero escapes. She's Queen of team fights though. On NA, Sivir has a brief shining moment when grandjudge ran Sivir in the NewEgg Tournament Finals (Team OP vs CLG). Game 1, Koreans rolled over CLG with Sivir, Game 2, jiji returned the favor again with Sivir. Game 3, Sivir got banned. After that tourney, I saw Sivir a lot in Ranked games but then she fell off after a while. Nothing's changed about her for a few patches now. Just to show you how fickle players can be... Because Sivir needs a team around her to work. Simple as that really, in solo queue the heroes that work are those that doesn't need your entire team to adapt to your playstyle. | ||

I'd figure it's the fact that people are adopting the EU meta and Sivir is horrible against Ashe/Cait and/or Janna lanes (I guess Sivir Taric is an ok lane with stun+double BB, though). Plus her low range makes it so that she's useless midgame against all the magic burst coming from solo lanes. There's no tanks in midgame fights who you could autoattack either. | ||
