Neato!
I will watch some or all of this. I hope the exclusive special surprise is something British.
|
I'll watch it. I hope there will be some news and not like Heathstone (without changes from the beta to the game)
|
Hype! Looking forward to this

I just got home! What have I missed so far?

Some cinematics and two cosplays. The cinematics weren't the movie quality type though, just HotS ingame engine. Mostly Johanna intro and a cinematic on a wall showcasing some heroes and maps.

Thanks for the answer!
So none of the hinted-at exclusive previews yet, then?
|
Not that I've seen so far, Johanna intro was pretty generic.

And no I can't build my team i get an error, thanks for the link anyway :D

I respect this DJ for his obvious skill, but my question is, could this entire routine be programmed into a computer? Then you wouldn't have to pay someone to stand on stage.

Ya see, the thing about Madeon is that he does it all live. He loads the samples into his software and then mixes it all live, instead of doing it beforehand. So, for example, if the power were to go out, he'd have to load all the samples back and start mixing the music again. So don't think he's being paid to stand on a stage.

He looks like hes faking it to me, most djs do that anyway, just basically play a recording and act as if they are actually doing stuff. Maybe I'm biased and not giving the guy a chance though.

anyone else find it weird they're putting on a concert for this game?

Audio cut out for anyone else?

Sound would cut out during the best part...

maybe im old but a launch party for a game just seems weird :p

Not that the DJ is bad or anything but how long is this going to go on. Kinda missing the whole relevance to Heroes or its launch here.
|
better read the schedule again. If you want the heroes stuff you have to be there, we just get the big shows and interviews.

I didn't say that he's being paid to stand on a stage. I've also acknowledged that he is obviously skilled at what he's doing.
I'm wondering about the impact of pre-programming everything so that they could remove the performer on the stage.

I just want the title to be "Madeon goes to Blizzcon"

So I went to the team builder link and it appears that if I can "form a team" with other people via facebook, I can get a free mount.
Anyone want to try that out with me?

I don't get the dj part either. But I would imagine it's trivial to do what you mentioned. Since it's all done digitally, it's easy to record the music.
Compare this to a pianist, for example, unless he plays on a digital piano, otherwise you'll need a mic and some recording device to save the music digitally.

what a terrible launch, 30 minutes of actual game content, then watching some nerds dance around.... 3/10 wtf blizz.

2 hours of event to announce how to unlock an already announced mount?
Well, I call it fail

dj is there to provide a feeling of uniqueness and interactivity. Without the human bit people wouldn't enjoy it as much. You don't need to understand why Apple can charge 500 more dollars for the same product. But they wouldn't be able to do it if there wouldn't be enough people that enjoy spending their money a name.

Actually it's really hard to make the music of this quality. But it's really easy to stand there in the shadow behind the thousand of lights and lasers and act yourself like you are doing something. People often overrates DJ performances and underrates their production abilities.

I closed the stream after 10 minutes of trying to figure out what the DJ had to do with the game launch. Was there anything relevant afterwards?

Nope, that was the last thing.

I'm really disappointed by the HotS launch event. I expected it to be at least half as good as the Starcraft 2 one. The launch party for Starcraft 2 was absolutely epic. They could have done so much more interviews, announced some more stuff, do some showmatches, etc.

Thanks. At least I don't have to watch the VOD then.
I thought there'd be at least some celebrity showmatches and such, but this was really disappointing.

Surprised Blizzard decided to use FB since their target market are PC gamers, who everyone knows have no life, and therefore no friends and no need for FB. I guess Blizzard wanted this to be a super exclusive mount that people would see once every 100 games or so and get super jealous :p.

id love that. im one of those weird fb boycot guys.

Hmm, just logged in and it had some popups for the gifts.
Popups were: WoW pet Hearthstone card back (not the card mount) Wolf mount First week HotS portrait
The wolf mount doesn't show up in the mount selection part though, and I'm supposed to have the Hearthstone card mount, but there was no popup for it (and obviously it isn't just magically there either) .
The shop is still down though, so maybe they'll both be fixed (I assume that the wolf mount at the least will), hopefully I don't need to play another 100 games of HS, that'd be annoying and stupid since the rewards from and for WoW are retroactive as was the Hearthstone card back.
|
If anyone has an extra code or can explain me how to receive those things I'd really like it.
|
The Wolf mount is for getting level 100 in WoW. The Hearthstone card back is for getting account level 12 in HotS. The Grave Golem battle pet for WoW is apparently for account level 20 in HotS. Portrait is for the logging into HotS during launch week I guess. The Hearthstone card mount is for winning 100 games in Hearthstone, although I don't think it's been confirmed whether it's retroactive or not. The mechano-spider mount is for doing the FB crap at teambuilder.heroesofthestorm.com (you don't need to like it, even though it says you do, and it doesn't message anyone you pick as part of your team).
I don't have an active subscription to WoW in case anyone was wondering.
Edit: The wolf mount is for HotS, not WoW, in case anyone got confused.
Edit 2: Wolf mount has shown up now (along with the main screen changing), still no Hearthstone mount though, hopefully I won't have to play a bunch of HS games :/.
Edit 3: It's 100 HS wins, not 100 HS games, still have enough wins but no mount yet.
Edit 4: HS mount is retroactive, but hasn't been added yet: This Mount won’t be available on launch day itself, but don’t worry – we’ll let you know just as soon as it arrives. If you’ve already reached 100 wins in Hearthstone, you’re all set to receive the Mount when it’s awarded. If you haven’t quite toppled 100 opponents just yet, then now’s the perfect time to start racking up games in Play Mode!
|
Thanks, that was informative.
