She was 2:4 while i was 12:2 :D
Every time I see Nova get picked on the enemy team, I perk up 'cause I have an excuse to pick my boy. Then I get both Mental Acuity and Scryer .

Just fuck the matchmaking in this game.
Get 3 "good" matches, followed by 8 absolute fucking trash matches full of afkers, ragers, whiners, leavers, quitters, toxic players, bad players, retarded players, the list goes on forever.
I'm really thinking I'll just temporarily quit playing, it's not worth going through 9 games which just make you mad to get that one good game you've been looking for all evening (or lately, all fucking week =_=)

I'm much happier for it, to be honest. I'll probably get back into HL once Blizzard fixes its retarded matchmaking and MMR.

Even at rank 1, there is a huge number of players who are just outright retarded with their decisionmaking.

there should be a player vote after every game so you can do sth about a Thrall sundering against a minion wave while youre trying to defend a tribute 4v5 and then suciding 1v5 when trying to interrupt boss alone with jaina while the rest of us is dead

Team full of Russians, getting battered from the off on Tomb of the Spider Queen. I'm ETC. Zagara dies 3 times in the first few minutes, they get a huge lead and knock down forts etc. They had 2 weavers without reply, we lost 57 gems on Zagara and then on me when I tried to save her.
They get sloppy and we get a few kills to help equalise things. Takes a lot but we eventually get their middle keep down (we've already lost our top and bottom). Get a couple weavers of our own which don't do much, but we get onto a relatively even footing level wise, still behind in siege.
Level 24. I get a really nice mosh pit and we kill 4 of them without reply. I immediately ping core a bunch of times, type "all mid, all core" - even though our team is low, I went the groupies build (we had no support) and had storm shield - we could easily DPS their core down. Only Tychus comes with me. Nazeebo wants to do boss - boss isn't up for 20 seconds, by which time, they will be close to spawning, with Azmodan still alive and on max stacks, it would be dangerous - all core is a guaranteed win more or less, especially considering the boss still had to go through their top keep.
Needless to say, me and Tychus had to back from our attempt on the core, Nazeebo, Zagara and Jaina all backed because they were low rather than starting boss or doing something positive, the other team simply went and got boss without us realising after they spawned and we lost the game.
Oh, I didn't mention, we had a fight after they got boss. I died, but for 3 of them. I typed "back", "defend" etc and pinged. They simply chased Sylvanas into the top keep, failed to kill her, and the boss ended the game attacking our undefended core. We could have killed the boss and stayed alive.
Fuck Russians. Being unable to communicate with your team is 100x worse than straight up bad play.

Double post QQ, yay!
I would gladly take a 6 minute queue to be able to specify the kind of team comp I want. Or set a parameter for equal skill. A lot of my QM games are pretty high level, lots of rank 1s, and I enjoy them more than HL games as they're usually of a higher standard. Had one such game, everyone rank 1, good comps, and it was a great game, and we won.
Then, for whatever reason, next game their team is full of rank 1s, ours has a player level 25 Stitches, a Sonya who wants to solo all game and a Kerrigan who disconnects and becomes a bot for half of it. No support - I played KT for the assassin quest, and was reminded of how awful it is to play assassin in QM - no protection, no support, unless you're very, very lucky. In the previous game, I was Uther, we had a great team balance and everyone was very happy and had a much more enjoyable time.
Filters is all it needs. People who don't mind randomly losing because you have a shitty QM comp against a good one don't have to lose that randomness - it can, sometimes, create fun and interesting set ups. But if I want to, I should be able to tick a few boxes and force a QM game of, for example, 1 assassin, 1 spec, 1 supp and 2 warriors on either team, with a restriction of 250 MMR either way or something. I'd rather queue for ages to find that than get constant losses because of terrible compositions and randomly out-of-their-league teammates.

I don't know if my MMR is broken but I was at rank 28 and I got matched up against players that were rank 35 34 36 etc. then on my team I had rank 38 37 39 etc. now it was not easy to win the game I had to coordinate 4 players who did not know what was up, so Blizzard decides that okay for you it must be easy to win the game because you are rank 28 and these scrubs on the other team is shit. Okay fair enough I am higher rank than them that is cool, but then it was not easy for me to win the game i lost 148 points, and that was not even the first time it happened I don't know what is up, and I don't know how to fix my MMR.
Can someone please help?

Once I get back to 3100 on hotslogs I'm quitting this for a few weeks. IF I do that is. With these teams I'm getting it's looking to be an impossible mission. People go to altars on new map 10 secs after they've started when you have a 30 sec forewarn, apparently not enough. Zeratuls who focus tanks. Kharazim's who sit next to full hp people waiting to heal them instead of helping out a lower hp teammate who got dispositioned by phase prism. Zagara's who gg and cries to stop playing before game has ended. Kerrigans who can't land a single W+E. Tyrael's who are afraid to engage 2v2, or to even help out a teammate that still has 30%+ hp after being caught by diablos charge+stun in the aforementioned 2v2. Instead, being a screen away as the tank is extremely helpful because fuck the dps, who needs em.
I could write a novel about the terrible people from last week alone. How is this supposed be high level play? I'm not a pro by any means but after almost 2000 games of hots I'm pretty confused how some of these lab monkeys are getting to rank 1 (which means absolutely nothing, because anyone in top 25% can get it), or how I'm continously expected to carry 4/5 matches while team is trying to throw it as hard as possible. Guess expecting anything from randoms is way too much asked. Should just stick to playing with full stacks.
E: I honestly don't know if I'm being paired with monkeys or people. I really don't. I refuse to believe humanity has... specimen like the ones I'm encountering nonstop. >_>
E2: I think monkeys would play better than this, probably lab rats or something. =_=

I didn't really understand how bad Hero League was until I started playing in it. -.-
God it's dumb fuck central how can people BE this stupid? The other team is ALWAYS together, but in my teams for whatever reason 2 people insist on being as far away as possible and our tank is just SUICIDAL.
Its like, fucking god man I'm Uther my mana is not INFINITE, you soaking as much damage as you can before the team gets here is NOT HELPFUL.
God help me this is painful.

I have to admit having a few other players at rank 25 when I'm 5 confuses me. But 3 out of 4 games, matchmaking seems good to me. The worst is, as Larkin said, when you can't even communicate with people. I have to admit players skill seems pretty balanced to me. The fact that I often play with a friend seems to help.
But QM is the jungle, even more with Cho Gall. Even more when I'm Cho or Gall, I really suck at this.
edit: 100% agree with the below comment about how QM is a training / experimentation ground.

I really stopped caring about QM MMR and even winning. That is not to say I don't do my very best to win every game, but I don't care if I lose.
I see QM purely as a training ground to improve my own game play. If I happen to be in a decent team, all the better, but the primary target is to play and learn from my own mistakes and decision making. Especially when trying out new heroes this is vital. I stopped logging to hotslogs and I am happier for it.

It's so hard to truly improve when you're not playing in a relevant situation. The only thing you can really improve is mechanics - when your team isn't a likely composition and your teammates/opponents are vastly polarised in ability, it doesn't effectively simulate a "proper" game in any way.
That said, my QM games used to be of a far higher level than my HL ones.
I'm beginning to lose patience with this game. I can see how people become toxic. I've had nothing but awful matchups with awful players against good teams with good players, time and time again. I get a player level 8 on my team, someone who has barely played the game, against 3 rank 1s. It's not fun for me to have to deal with his feeding, and I doubt it's fun for him to get stomped so hard.
Then I'm Tyrande, only support, with 3 assasins and a specialist against 2 warriors, a specialist, an assassin, and Malfurion. Needless to say it gets to a point where we cannot win fights through their sustain and health. Then I realise I'm actually topping damage over Jaina, Kerrigan, Nazeebo...
Happens again, me as ETC doing more damage than fuckin Kael'thas. Their teams are constantly of a good composition and a good skill level of players - I get people with less than 100 games under their belts. It just isn't fair, and I can't understand why this has started happening so much after the Cho'gall patch. I'm coming close to not wanting to play anymore at the moment, but I want to buy TLV and get good with them before I start grinding HL again.
|
My QM's are better than ever. Maybe because I play almost only autoselect. Of course its hell if you have a bad chogall but I rarely see him at all.
And I think one can improve quite a lot in QM. Map awareness for example is something most ppl lack and can always improve.
|
Then again, it's just as bad in HL, people picking Cho'gall and leaving us with no support, Lili that never uses her heroic, Kharazim that can never hit his heroic, Tassadar that can never land a good force wall and even blocks me from killing Nazeebo... people pick heroes without being consistently able to utilise their mechanics and it boggles my mind.

How can I be 1-8 in towers of doom-hero league? What can I be doing wrong?

This map really is terrible

With towers of doom, I don't really see how practical it is to kill your opponents' forts. I understand that it allows for more hits when you activate the towers, but it's so easy for the opponents to quickly return their lost fort back to normal, that you'd really have to kill the fort mere moments before activating a tower to get that bonus.

It doesn't matter, you are gaining the exp advantage and map control. If they have to come and "return" their fort, you have all the time to do boss, mercs, make an ambush or just gank other lane and destroy other fort.
If you manage to destroy at least one fort(while your opponents don't) you are forcing your opponents to be more defensive and chain of events will happen that you can capitalize on.
