I can't really see a situation where you'd want to pick her over Tyrael. I don't think that you'd ever want her as your main tank given her lack of CC. I think her niche is an offtank/damage dealer in a dive combo (ie you'd paid her with Tyrael or maybe Anub).
Personally, I've never really liked Sonya given her relative lack of mobility.
After a few games, it's official... Sonya is just.... not good....ugh.
Okay, here is an interesting one. I swore this has happened to me before, but I do not normally look at my match statistics log after playing 1 game however the other day I thought I went 4-1 in hero league and my games recorded as 3-2.
Tonight I won a game and people on my team got a victory, but I got a loss. No disconnects from me or anything. Reporting it as a bug, but that is a pretty harsh bug.
Why would you ever pick Sonya over Tyrael is beyond me.
I guess she can do more damage but i don't build Tyrael for dps to be sure. When i tried her i built her for anything but whirlwind, its not reliable if you wanna stay for a long time in the middle of 3 people, you just die. Slam and spear are good and you have no fury issues.

Wow. This explains some things, man. Kept getting frustrated thinking I was playing really poorly and not casting things in time or something.

I would argue if you are having issues with this, you ARE playing poorly. This is not meant as a slam, but each game has it's own mechanics, and its the player's job to use the mechanics to do what he wants. If you're having issues, it's because your right click spam is canceling your abilities, i.e. your fault. Now since this is a beta, we can definitely ask Blizzard to make things easier on us, but that doesn't mean it's the games fault these things are happening. We are just not using the mechanics properly.
I personally don't mind the way it is now, but whatever.

edit: holy crap that owl.
Not taken as a slam, but I was noticing it way more frequently. I'm not at all opposed to being critical of my play and I know sometimes I do right click cancel and usually say ok that's what happened. I was getting way more confused this past weekend.

Yeah, something happened this past weekend. I never had problems before.
Does anyone have issues accidentally clicking the minimap on the bottom right of the screen? I'll be right click spamming to go bottom right and accidentally hit the map and it sends me back left/stutters left because obviously a map click would be in the opposite direction.

Take heart, the last patch changes on Sonya specifically mentioned she had mechanical and balance issues and they were only fixing the mechanical issues at that time.
Also, did anyone here watch a cheesy driver's ed video about good / neutral / bad drivers? It color-coded cars green / yellow / red and when the red cars went around doing stupid stuff, the yellow cars would either get angry or be unable to respond appropriately and turn red too.
Last night I had flashbacks to this video after running into mouthy player after mouthy player.
1 - while winning a tribute fight our ETC slammed our Valla, he really never stopped and ended the game ripping our Illidan for 'throwing' the game We ended up losing because he kept mouthing off when we were trying to coordinate for those late game fights.
2 - Tyrael raged every time he died, dragged our Raynor into a flame war and decided to start feeding. Needless to say we lost and I reported him.
3 - Rehgar took the time out of team fights to look up stats and rip on our DPS for not doing their job. Including standing by the fountain for 15 seconds to critique our play while we were fighting inside mines. Amazingly we won though (how do you lose when you two golems starting on core and our golem isn't even through your fort...).
Needless to say none of this behavior contributed to winning and was in fact detrimental (2 and 3 definitely cost us experience)!

People will call me crazy, but I'm sure the team that starts from the left side has a sightly better winrate that the one that starts on the right. Because the team to the right is more propense to missclick on the minimap when trying to run to their base. Not saying it is a hughe percentage difference, but i'm sure theres a variation in favor of the left side.
Also, yeha, the game has still a lot of bugs, like this one:
The horrid minimap click. Had happened a few times to me aswell. It drives me nuts, but happens very very rarely. It's way worse in maps like sky temple or haunted mines in my experience.
After getting Nova to level 5 for the gold, I have to admit I actually like her quite a bit. Initially due to the enemy Novas I've seen (and usually murdered) and all the forum talk about her (both the hate and how she sucks) I was doubtful about her playstyle but as long as you don't just rush in and acknowledge she sucks solo and vs minions, she can actually kick butt against heroes.
Especially against enemy Assassins such as Illidan and Valla or any hero at half health, I can pop out, snipe them and fall back. Although you can see the cloak (I see enemy Nova's everywhere) it's still easy to miss in a fight and you'll need an AoE / Skillshot handy that can decloak her (and not miss). With Bolt of the Storm she has a decent escape and with Armor Piercing Rounds, the burst damage is quite high. In one case I saw an Illidan of equal level at full health trying to clear some minions and I murdered him with just the regular abilities before he could fight back.
Granted, she does little to no siege damage and Bolt of the Storm is her only escape so I do have to be very careful and stay in cloak and wait for an opportunity to get a good Crippling Shot + Snipe in. I also have to mention how much Nova can suck if played badly. Due to her being free this week, she's on every enemy team and more than half of them play her like a Valla and just rush in, using Decoy after attacking and rushing ahead. They expect Cloak to be a magical savior and just end up eating my Snipe from the back. Many of them also don't use Decoy properly and make it obvious who the real Nova is. In one case on Blackheart's Bay I saw a Nova solo cloaked in a corner whilst my team was nearby and just Snipe'd her out of cloak and the team insta-gibbed her.
I'm guessing against smarter veteran players, landing Snipe and getting into a good position will be harder, but she's the first Assassin other then Valla that I actually had fun with and that counts quite a bit.
As for the Ultimates, I was expecting Triple Tap to suck and the Precision Strike to be the better ultimate, but after playing with both, Triple Tap at the right time is more reliable. Especially in 2v2 or a hero running away (without being near buildings), Triple Tap has a high chance for a kill. It works a lot like Snipe in that you have to be patient when using it. Some heroes like to interrupt the ability the instant they see it, sometimes wasting an ability and giving me the shorter interrupt cooldown. With Precision Strike I noticed the heroes can just run away and it doesn't do that much damage other than to Assassins. Precision Strike would work well with timed AoE stuns like Void Prison or Zagara's Maw but those are rare in solo queue.
She definitely has her weaknesses though in that she needs a team to soak the damage and has to rely on her cloak and Decoy to get into a good position, but damn does it feel good to instantly remove Illidan or Valla from a fight and still have a Triple Tap left over to snipe that Jaina that is running away. With Triple Tap off cooldown, any enemy that is running away or is solo on medium to low health can be a kill. I often save it though, wanting to make sure it doesn't get wasted on a hero that would die anyway. She is decent at hunting solo heroes down if you played it carefully, just don't PvE with her unless the team is near you.
All that said, she is fun and I don't feel like I'm not helping the team (which I thought might the case due to the forum talk). Also, got my first perfect score of 33-0 with her. Weeeee! Might actually save up gold for her for when I'm not playing Zagara, though I am curious how she would do if I ever get into Hero League.
Only thing I can say about nova is that I think tazer rounds is undervalued, especially since crippling shot is taken over overdrive. Maybe my thinking is off, but if you're going ambush strike -> crippling shot, having amp 25% dmg from all sources for 2.25sec isn't really enough to make that talent worth it, overdrive is simply a better choice since you can snipe and also hit your triple tap or orbital strike and still get the amplified damage. Tazer rounds will also allow you to hit orbital strike within the crippling duration, as well as give your teammates more time to take advantage of the dmg amp.
I've only really played nova in quickmatch, haven't really used her in hero league so I can't tell you if she has a place in the current meta or not. The lack of mobility until blink makes her very high risk/high reward, and zeratul essentially has a similar role but with the added safety net. For me, her utility is really in tazer rounds -> crippling shot -> single target burst and GTFO, and continuously reapplying crippling shot as often as possible without dying.
Tazer Rounds (as far as Crippling Shot is concerned) wouldn't really help that much except with Precision Strike as you mentioned (Triple Tap takes too long I think?) and at the cost of the 20% damage bonus to Snipe from Cloak talent. Tazer Rounds do of course benefit the team a bit more since the slow simply lasts longer.
Also, but I'd need to verify this again, Crippling Shot already seems to work with Precision Strike without Tazer Rounds. When I did a Try Out on Nova, I tested it against the Arthas bot by casting Crippling Shot and then immediately Precision Strike and it actually got the damage bonus. (as it did less without it) Although the duration is 2.25 sec and Precision Strike delay is 3.0 sec, it still got applied. (you can test it in Try Out, maybe I missed something?)

still happens for me occasionally.
And yeah if you are on the right side its more deadly ... try to retreat ... hit the mini maps left side ... walk into the opponents. I like the minimap size alot. But fighting against an attack from upper left I wish there would be a minimize button that half's its size. Or just use borders.

Just tested it out, it seems like Precision strike is on a 2sec delay. Blizz really needs to add hard numbers to their descriptions rather than "a short delay", and/or heroes gamepedia page needs an update.
I guess scrap everything I said about overdrive vs crippling shot, though if you took ambush strike and plan on picking up triple tap, overdrive should still be considered. As for tazer rounds, I still think that 4seconds worth of crippling shot is huge, and still undervalued simply because teammates can really benefit from the additional 1.75seconds of amplified damage + slow. It seems like a small number, but it really means that crippling shot is on a 8second cd rather than 10, and with headshot it can be 4 second.
Nova has two problems. The most obvious is that she has zero utility outside of attacking heroes. The other problem is that she has no escape, which means that it is very hard for her to play around enemy detection. An oracle-spamming Tassadar can make it very difficult for Nova to properly operate because she won't be able to safely approach the enemy team from the dangerous directions that she often needs to -- particularly in 5v5s. Zeratul, in contrast, can play around detection and other "counters" simply because he of his high mobility.
All of that said, she is still a good pub stomper. I just cringe whenever I see people pick her against high ranked players.
I click that fucking minimap all the damn time. I wish they added a 1s or so grace period where you can't click on the minimap after you hover over it.
