Because info is burden of knowledge, don't you know

Also as demonstrated by talent gating I think it's clear that Blizzard thinks their customers are dumber than a rock or something, and needed to be restricted so they don't accidentally hurt themselves.

I don't think that the talent gating is that bad. From what I've seen, there are only a few heroes where I think it really makes a big difference. Even then, you can clear most of your talents with just two wins. I think 3-4 wins will open up the rest.
EDIT: Of course, if you're playing a shit hero like Illidan, getting those two wins isn't easy.

Yeah that just seems so weird. Surely they can just make an 'advanced' option somewhere that shows stats. I need to know how a game works to get better ;x
They also desperately need a 'what killed me' screen like in dota, as I have no clue to what I die 50% of the time

Talent gating is "not bad", but it is totally and 100% unnecessary. Like you mentioned some heroes are extremely nonfunctional without the rest of their talents, and this artificial handicap is absolutely uncalled for. Talents in HOTS is like items in LoL/DOTA, imagine if you are playing death prophet, but you'll need to play 20 games to unlock eul's scepter, because all of a sudden Valve decided that this item is too complicated for newbies and players won't be able to use it properly until they have played at least 20 games. How stupid is that?

It's a ridiculous feature and will only be defended by blizzard apologists. It's probably the biggest reason myself and a lot of my friends don't try HOTS more. Nobody wants to play 2-4 games per hero just to get an accurate assessment of the hero. It's absolutely silly.

Lagged out in the end of a game, and was able to join in the last possible second so I saw the victory text appear, but didn't get XP. Is this normal, or a bug?

think im going to play exclusively tassadar just to annoy the cunts who spam nova every game, i never cared about her when i played warriors but now when i try to have fun with zagara and other squishy champions that bitch makes me rage -.-

But I love Dota2's model with heroes too much to like any kind of gating wrt hero selection/power. Optional limited heroes mode(s) is fine but how shit is it to play in a match where others can select any heroes they want, with talents unlocked, and you have to play tiny tim "to learn." Or that is one of the teammates you get stuck with.
Fuck that.
I wonder how long this system will survive when the population starts getting bigger and more experienced.

I mean instead of going the logical approach of "suggesting a talent" where all talents are not gated, and better talents are outlined in gold or something, the HOTS team just decided to lock them away altogether until an arbitrary certain level. Next thing you know you are required to write and defend a thesis on why talent A is better than talent B before you can unlock both talents.

Jesus, we're only talking about 4-5 games MAX to unlock all talents. It's not the end of the world. Just think of all of the other stupid shit that we grind in other games. The talent gating here is almost meaningless in comparison, regardless of the fact it is kinda stupid.

Sorry it is indefensible. And speak for yourself wrt "grinding" - I got over being ok with that a long time ago.

It's just pointless. If it takes a short times to unlock all there's no real point of having it in the first place. It's just there to piss you off and have people rage at blizzard.

If it's only 4-5 games, why have it at all? The stated purpose is to give people time to learn the basic hero before burdening them with all the talents, but 4-5 games really isn't enough to meet that goal, but any more and veterans be raging. It's just the perfect storm of awful.
Edit: Basically what they ^ said

I dislike the talent gates as well, but it might be there to promote people to play multiple heroes more than once. I don't know why, but every rotation with a new hero I feel the need to get to 4, then to 5 for the 500gold bonus... And now typing this I realize the 500gold bonus is what I'm really after. Fuck talent gating lol

Talent gating just seems like a very lazy way to feed the need for progress in the game. You don't runes etc so you don't progress, and really leveling up stuff is what keeps people motivated.
I wish they'd just try out the DotA2-route and leave that stuff out.

There's all sorts of stuff to grind in LoL and in most every other game out there. Don't get me wrong, I don't like grinding. But to see people talking about talent gating in HotS as if it is the dispositive issue for them regarding HotS is just ridiculous.
