Awesome common card for the Warrior in Arena: by itself that means this cards is already great.
After that I do not think it has it's place in warrior control (too little value overall): but if a warrior decklist arise based on board control and/or tempo this card will be an awesome 1 drop for it: Can be compared with Living root for the druid for example.
Now, not sure how many remember it but the warrior weapon face was semi decent deck in Vanilla Hearthstone that was completely stopped by the introduction of the Sludge Belcher in naxx: so it is possible that this deck can come back in Standard. Also a great activator of pirate card, being a 1 drop with the pirate key word + a weapon with decent durability (Shady dealer, Captain Greenskin, Southsea deckhand): so Warrior Pirate hype?? I don't think it's there yet but the introduction of this card we may not be that far from it.

omg, finaly the card that may make pirate warrior "viable" again. ever since warsong commander got bugged, then nerved i have been hoping to return to my beloved pirat deck! (was running some pirat burst combo with greenskin, parrots, upgrades and bloodsailraider/warsong combo as finisher). that deck was so much fun and even pretty good. without the 14-20 dmg burst, warrior was missing a solid onedrop/weapon for turn 1 in an aggro pirat deck. this card provides both... insanity!
im getting more and more hyped for the new set/standard, realy cant wait one more month...

Very interesting card in that it quite snugly fits into the same role of dudeslayer as FWA/Armorsmith. Intuition would say that it's worse at that role, but as we all know, the most important thing for aggro decks is that they can run good 1-drops. This might be the card Warrior needs to reliably get a chokehold on board early and get that to translate into lethal damage. The main problem with this little guy is that he has such painful antisynergy with some of the best cards in Warrior.
If this card was a 1/1 with Upgrade! as a battlecry, even for 2 mana, it would be an utter gamechanger.

Might be the case like muster and truesilver where truesilver often ended up a 1 of. So 2 of this and 1 fwa for warriors early game esp in a midrange Warrior. 2 is a mana spot with alot of choice for warrior like 4 for paladin

Maybe Ethereals. They already have Conjurer and Arcanist.

You know, the Sea Reaver should have been a pirate. Still would have gotten no play... but you know would have been nice.

1. Sea Reaver is not a pirate. By Blizzard's definition of PIRATE, they're strictly referring to the Bloodsail Pirates and Pirates that inhabited Deadmines. Sea Reaver is a part of a race called Kvaldir on the continent of Northrend, who dwell in the mist of shores and attack ships.
2. Booty Bay Bodyguard is not a pirate... If you even look at the artwork it doesn't look like a pirate. Goblins are known to be traders, and Booty Bay, although inhabited by many pirates, is merely a neutral trade city. Thus, Booty Bay Bodyguards are NOT pirates.

I like this. Sure, if you silence it it's just a 1/1, but Blizzard seems to think silence cards should be getting nerfed, so it might not be so risky to use it. Now I would say it combos great in Handlock, since you basically get another giant for 4 mana, but I guess Faceless Manipulator does the same thing. It has built-in taunt though, so I wonder if it may find some use that way.

The thing is I'd rather just use Argus if I was going to use giants On second thought, it's more likely to see play in Zoo, or it may encourage Handlock to use Power Overwhelming. It's a great way to make those temporary attack boosts permanent. It might see play because of that. PO + Shambler into Void Terror is a bit of a wombo combo, and you're asking to get BGH'ed, but just imagine. Twice the stats of one minion, with a +8/+8 on top.
