Mage, 12-1 starting from 0-1...

No fireball/frostbolt/poly, mediocre mana curve... pyro is good but I played it in no more than 2 games. Sometimes I feel that nothing beats the randomness of the matchmaking system, yesterday I made 3-3 with a seemingly better deck just because I played all 6 games against super good decks/players.

How the fuck am I supposed to play with this?
I didn't get any 4-drop minion proposed to me after the 14th card, which is more or less when I started to pay attention to my curve, particularly because I already had 2 Silver Hand Knight (got the 3rd because the other 2 cards were trash), the faceless manipulator and the Silver Commander. Because I barely received any 3-drop either, I had to let go of a second Eviscerate and a Betrayal. I also didn't get proposed any Poison.
I mean, seriously, how the FUCK am I supposed to play this deck? Its curve is already super trash in a vacuum, but now remember that I'm playing Rogue too. These late games minions won't do shit for me because I have absolutely 0 midgame. Sigh.
... Yeah, first game: Druid innervate->harvest golem turn 1, coin->SSC turn 2. Yeah. Fuck that shit. Turn 3 he plays earthen seer to heal the golem. Turn 4 he makes it into a 5/6 taunt with mark of the wild that he just drew. YEAH. RIGHT. My deck wasn't shit enough, give him perfect draw over FOUR FUCKING TURNS IN A ROW. 15 HP turn 4. 8 HP turn 5. Killed in 6 turns, I played 2 minions. Yeah, all these 2-drops... AND I FUCKING ONLY DREW ONE OF ALL THE FUCKING GAME. Even had to burn Assassinate twice on some shit.
Ended up 3-3 somehow. Could have been 5-1 instead, but I made a few mistakes then a warlock top deck'd the silence he needed to pass through my taunt and finish me. Then a fucking mage topdecks his draw and draws a fireball off that and ends up his turn with 1 mana and me with 0 HP after his damaged golem and fireball attack me too. I had a 7/2, a 8/8 on board, and my next turn it'd have turned into two 12/8 and a 1/3 (who'd have boosted one of the others to 13/8), so the mage had 2 turns to live, top. But nop, topdeck for the win. Yeah well fuck shithead. This class and priest make me rage so much with their retardproofness.

Hit 12-2 as Shaman kinda surprisingly, as I never arena'd with them before much and I didn't particularly like the deck. Didn't think it had enough shaman removals:
1x lightning bolt 1x forked lightning 1x lightning storm 1x stormforged axe 1x fire elemental
No hexes, no rockbiters. I wasn't too optimistic.
Turns out that 2 archmages, an earth elemental, ancestral spirit, and a flametongue totem were what I needed.
Faced surprisingly low amounts of hard removal, which meant that earth elemental was able to just run rampant, and would often just outright win games with ancestral spirit.

lol mage is such super bullshit. My first time over 9 wins in arena and it's mage. Wanna know why? Blizzard x2 Flamestrike x 2 Fireball x 2 My losses? One to a shaman because I never drew any of my board clear, surprise surprise. One to a priest who Thoughstole my entire deck, Ysera, Flamstrikes, you name it.

i was on a winning streak of like 9-0, during my 10th game, i got disconnected when i used the 4 to cast Minion with MC, was a bit sad

Starting with no gold, I just managed 7 runs before running out. The interesting thing is that in the final run where I only went 3-3, I can easily see the mistakes I made in the first 2 losses. The third loss was against a mage where I was unlucky with my draw, turned it around on 9 health and was 1 turn from winning when he drew a pyroblast.
A couple of these runs I had good drafts and managed 7 and 8 wins. A couple of them I had bad drafts and managed 6 and 8 wins. I am starting to think that you can still win with a bad draft, if you do not make mistakes.

Pretty happy with my arena progress. Slowly worked my way up. and my last 6 runs have been 9, 9, 6 7 7. Barely on the cusp of infinite, but it did let me accrue just shy of 300g along with a couple days of dailies. Should be pretty much set for 1-2 arena runs a day for a long time now. I probably won't be spending any of my gold directly on packs until I get well into the high 100's though.

Finally did pretty well with a rogue and went 8-3.
I don't know why I've been quite so terrible with them in the past, but it sort of clicked this time.

Last 3 arena games I went 5/3, 3/3 and 5/3 again. The last run was with a mage deck that I thought would be pretty sweet but turned out to be really mediocre. Feeling like a noob I did.
Then I openend a golden Cone of Cold! Fuck it, got my investment back; 400 dust baby, whoooo!

Second 12 wins in a row.
This time thanks to a legit OP deck. Drafted sylvanas, illidan stormrage, and ragnoros. 4 backstabs and 2 sen jin's ensured I made it to the late game, along with a core hound to serve as bait. Basically no other rogue cards though, and it was otherwise lackluster.
Illidan was defintely MVP; such a strong followup to sylvanas, and with all those backstabs, I was able to generate insane value from him. An absolute monster in arena.

5-3 with a bad rogue deck (no early game with only 2 decent 2 drops and 3 decent 3 drops but rly good 4 and 5 drops). The upside is that I got thalnos out of the reward :D

According to http://www.arenamastery.com/sitewide.php thats 100gold less than average. I'm glad I do well lately, because if I wouldnt I would be out of gold very fast with shit rewards like that.

Decided to play mage for the first time in a while. Man did I get good minions and spells.
+ Show Spoiler + +venture co, ogre, 2x flamestrike and a pyro. The lack of frostbolts kinda sucks, but I have pretty nice 2 dropminion quality so I guess that's fine.
Lost to coin defias =/. Had an atrocious starting hand against it, 6-1 now.
7-3. Hit 2 mages in a row, and lost both. Not having frostbolts or arcane missiles REALLY hurts in that matchup, especially if the other guy does. Matchup also depends so heavily on who draws more pyros/fireballs. First mage I played had at least 3 fireballs and a pyro, same as me.
And I had my first full D/E card pack. Failed arena run IMO.
EDIT: Next run. Fuck mages. So fucking hard to beat one as warlock. Can't play too many minions or you die to CoC/blizzard/flamestrike, can't win without playing minions, and you get raped because none of your shit stays alive anyways.

My losses:
Game 5: I put a 4th minion on the field and then my mage opponent promptly plays mind control tech and nabs my biggest creature and I proceed to lose.
Game 13: A bad starting hand against a mage. Without drawing any truesilvers the whole game I get the game back to the mage at 4 life and me at 9, with only a recruit on my side, 2 3/2s and a bloodfist ogre on the mages. I have a GoK, Blessing of Kings and Storm Commando and the mage has no cards. I can either GoK and pray or Commando a 3/2 and Kings my recruit and kill the other 3/2 and still pray. I choose the second option. Well the mage topdecks nightshade and I lose.
Game 14: Wost start in the series, but I'm in luck my Druid opponent also has a bad start. Such a grindy game but after what seems to be an eternity I'm sitting pretty at 24 life and the druid has 6. But we are both topdecking. 6 fucking turns we both draw perfect answers to each-others play and then with less than 8 cards left he gets an Ironbark and I proceed to lose.
Gah I got robbed of 12 wins.

I already put my second last pick in the "What would you pick" thread, but I'm curious what people think of the rest of my mage draft. So far, there's a few classes I struggle with in arena and one of them is Mages. I like mage in theory, it has great cards and an amazing class ability. Yet I never got higher then 7 wins with a mage, so I'm wondering if my drafting is off.
Here's what I drafted with some thoughts when needed: + Show Spoiler + - coldlight oracle / master swordsmith / pint-sized summoner (crappy start, dont like the smith so went with the summoner)
- river crocolisk / bloodfen raptor / arcane intellect (some ok 2's, but went for the greedy card draw)
- venture co. mercenary / stormwind knight / archmage - loot hoarder / fen creeper / fireball - mad bomber / sorcerer’s apprentice / ice barrier (bomber has backfired a few times on me so went with the safe option)
- murloc raider / ice barrier / tauren warrior (3 terrible cards imo, went with the least aweful one)
- oasis snapjaw / raid leader / gurubashi berserker - elven archer / polymorph / arcane inellect - bloodfen raptor / stranglethorn tiger / dark iron dwarf - mountain giant / molten giant / ice block (I know people complain about ice block but I think it's bad in arena)
- silverback patriarch / dire wolf alpha / bluegill warrior (was this or alpha, pretty close this might be wrong)
- cult master / ice barrier / water elemental - booty bay bodyguard / earthen ring farseer / loot hoarder - fireball / river crocolisk / stonetusk boar - scarlet crusader / frostbolt / cult master (not sure if this was correct, I like both but at this point I had a lot of 4's already this early and I figured I would get more later so for curve reasons I went with the Frostbolt)
- mana wraith / mind control tech / violet teacher - voodoo doctor / faerie dragon / silvermoon guardian - archmage / ironfur grizzly / mirror image (I think this was close between the grizzly and the archmage, was mainly hoping for a better late game drop later in the draft and I needed a 3 costed creature)
- dalaran mage / war golem / harvest golem - sunwalker / master swordsmith / counterspell - darkscale healer / fireball / arcane explosion - knife juggler / questing adventurer / demolisher (I don't respect the adventurer, and demolisher is really swingy; I'm not sure how good the juggler is in my deck though and maybe I should have taken the demolisher)
- faerie dragon / ancient brewmaster / dark iron dwarf - boulderfist ogre / sorcerer’s apprentice / frost nova - razorfen hunter / cone of cold / silver hand knight - argent squire / mana wyrm / gnomish inventor (I've seen mana wyrm do some work but I'm not the biggest fan and I only had 2 early spells at this pont)
- wisp / arcane explosion / mogu’shan warden (I don't like any of these cards; whisp is the worst and after that it felt like a toss up)
- jungle panther /flesheating ghoul / stormwind knight - silver hand knight / ironfur grizzly / fireball (I put this pick in the "what would you take" thread; eventually went with the greedy fireball pick but I think the knight might be correct)
- doomsayer / mountain giant / ice block (I don't think mountain giant is great but I don't like doomsayer or ice block at all in arena)

Really not sure how this deck will do. It has some great cards, 4 Fireballs, but also some crappy stuff like Tauren Warrior. Will let you know what the final score is.

@ Gotuso. Deck seems pretty reasonable overall, no glaring mistakes from where I'm sitting.
So I just finished a druid arena 11-3. Didn't quite manage to beat the final bosses! The decks you meet at 11 wins are just crazy good, it's scary.
Got 265 gold, spellbinder, and pack. My deck was looking almost like a constructed deck; I had lots of big guys, some AOE and removal early on, and even a Wild Pyromancer to go with my two swipes (he was probably the star of the deck, often giving serious value).

Finally get a decent draft since the patch, a mage with two pyroblasts, got to 9 wins losing one on the way, the 9 wins were just complete domination. Then I get my second loss to a shaman with earth ele, 3 fire elementals, and a well timed hex and I didn't draw either of my pyroblasts with 10 cards remaining. And lost my last one to a hunter of all classes because of shit hand/early draw while he had a perfect hand.
