On average you get more 'pure' gold at 8 wins (1 pack + 4 gold piles) vs 9 wins (1 pack + another pack OR gold card + 3 gold piles). So if you just want gold for more arena buy-ins, you should always stop at 8 wins. If you want cards/dust you go for 9 wins. This is subject to change since Blizzard has stated that the win record will be upped to 12 wins before retiring.

I just did an arena and got offered 1 creature below 3 casting cost. That's not really fun.

man I got the playful sprites crash before the first turn on my first game and it gave me a loss, then I went 6-0 and then lost twice and was out. bummer.

Just played against a Paladin with 4 truesilvers. Is that even possible to beat. The more I play Arena the less I enjoy it. Just not my game mode it seems.

Went 3-3 with Priest with a deck that had 0 SW cards 1 Holy Nova 1 Silence 0 Mind Control. I really don't know how I won as many games as I did. Outside of the fact I had basically 0 removal I felt like it was a good deck, but having no removal really really hurt me and all my losses could have been contributed to that fact

Although I don't normally post much outside of the mafia forum, I just had a 9-2 run, and this seems to be the thread to be happy in Very very encouraging after going 0-3 and 1-3 in my last two arenas and never having been past 5 wins, lol ^_^;;
(Link to deck here. Warrior.)
Mad bombers absolutely saved at least two games, hehe. RNG sure feels awesome when it magically works xD

4th arena run complete as Rogue, and got my first 9 win! :D Went 9-2 in the end.
Here's a tip, guys - never, ever concede the game when you know he can kill you next turn. Let him actually play his turn out. Why? Just because YOU know he's won, doesn't mean HE knows he's won!
I got 55 dust, 175 gold, a golden rare (blue), and a deck - aren't 9 wins supposed to guarantee 2x decks?

Frankly I am having a generally easy time against everyone who isn't using a clearly well-built deck with rares epics and legendaries... and I have jack shit for non-basic cards. I've actually been using just the plain basic decks to level to 10; I've really embarrassed several people.
Despite my success using inferior decks, I've kinda hit a wall and 3-star master looks like quite a ways off. The thing is I just have very few non-basic cards unlike literally everyone I'm facing. And my first time doing Arena a few days ago I went 5-3, it was great.
I really feel like my best strategy at this point is to spend my 1050 coins doing Arenas (that's 7 arenas minus the rewards for more!) to gather more non-basic cards, and then go back to doing ranked matches with decks that actually have more than 1-3 non-basic cards. I have done more research and I am confident that I understand plenty of higher level cards, some top deck types, and about the metagame.
Is there really no exception to the "wait until 3-star master before doing Arenas" rule? 'Cause if there is one, I can probably pull it off. Have I misinterpreted something? Will it be a mistake for me to jump back into Arenas? I feel like by the time I get 3-star master I'm gonna have well over 2000 coins and I'll still have very few non-basic cards; this just seems wrong to me. So wrong that I'm questioning why I would even seek advice on this, it seems obvious that I should just Arena for more non-basics.
Lok'tar ogar! save me plz
yeah go for it, arena is the best way to get cards unless you are completely hopeless, you get great value in a pack+gold rewards+dust compared to straight buying packs. Plus its fun and you get experience and potentially tons of gold if you get good.
wee, just got my first real good arena run. Had the game for 3 days, was 8-1 and conceded out for the higher gold reward at 8 because I need the money for more runs more than gold cards and shit. Shaman with a single stormforged axe as my only overload card, bit surprised it worked. I did get 4 Emperor Cobras, which turned out really fantastically and makes breaking the lump of weenies/totems far harder, great card.
I also went 3-3 with a warrior deck with 4 fiery war axes. I suck ass at warrior, and I didn't get a single axe for the 3 losses, which was unfortunate, as I needed them to patch up the bit weak early game.

I just got a 9-win arena on my 4th attempt and I'm just 1* Diamond at the moment. I'd really recommend watching some drafting videos from this guy: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_GNfdbP7ZfIJNyTSZh1jNQ?feature=g-high-crv
Watching him explain the drafts, and the thought process behind it, really helped my drafting I think.

Drafting is a skill unto itself, and i definitely noticed my game improving dramatically after watching a few hours of Trump drafting. Not playing, but drafting. Not saying my playing is the best, but my drafting was definitely lacking in many areas.

I am 5:2 in arena, pretty decent warlock deck (drafted ragnaros for the first time), playing against a warrior who is at 12 health, i'm at 20. I have 6 minions on the board, he has a kodo. I have 0 cards in my hand (but thats ok since i was a warlock) and he has one which he held on to for ~5 turns. He draws, plays arcanite reaper and than brawl. ALL of my minions die and his stupid kodo survives. He hits me for 8 and the next turn i'm dead...
He gave me three "sorry" and a well played...

I actually managed to go 9-1, most games weren't even close due to a strong early game letting me play my 5-6 drops on an almost empty board, letting me trade insanely well.

This. This just happened to me. And I'm priest, so that lack of a turn 2 play is extra shitty. Also, I got a legendary pick between Captain Greenskin, Tinkmaster Overspark, and King Mukla. Thanks anyway.

Went 8-3 on Arena today as Mage.
I messed up the last game against the Shaman. Meh. Overall,it's fine anyways.

7-3 with an average Warlock deck, very weak early game and the "good" cards were the risky ones like Pit Lord, Shadowflame, Doom Guard etc.
So nothing to complain, except for the last match against a Shaman who played every Overload card, along with the inevitable Unbound Elemental, which makes me really mad. I have over 70% winrate but my experience with Shaman drafting is terrible (4, 5, 5, 4, 5 wins), apparently I always get the crappy stuff like Windspeaker and Totemic Might.
