Yes. Blizzard has stated that there will never be another wipe.

Really? oO

My question: As beginner, should I try Arena or save gold to buy pack?

Blizzard said that they don't expect another wipe. That doesn't mean that there will never be another wipe.

Arena gives you better value.

I'd say play one to get a feel for sure because you get the pack too so its a 150g pack if you make at least 50g in arena (not terribly hard) you get your moneys worth for the pack plus you have the games you played of experience. Then you can save up playing normal games for another arena. IF you notice after 2-3 arena runs you're losing money its most likely better to just farm constructed for gold until you feel more comfortable and learn 4 classes you can play so in arena you are almost guaranteed one of your favorite classes

Few questions

1. For ranked play can you get demoted? Still pretty new at the game(first TCG type game since pokemon more than 15 years ago). Made it to plat 2 so far, granted with a somewhat cheesy deck.

2. Is there a short guide to how arena works/rewards list? I see 5-6 wins being thrown around, but how's the system actually work. Also how important is it to have a good grasp of multiple classes for arena?

You can't get demoted afaik. If it's possible than you have to be extremely bad.

You pay 150g to play until you lose 3 games or win 9 games. You're given a choice of three classes, you pick one and then you get to draft a deck. The better your record is, the better your reward is. A pack is guaranteed regardless of your record. 5-6 wins is where most consider the break-even point.

As beginner, should I try Arena or save gold to buy pack?

I guess there's 2 ways to answer this-
a) Depending on which aspect of the game you want to focus on (arena or constructed), you could allocate your gold accordingly to maximize gain in that focused area. For example, if you wanted to focus on arena play, they you should be dumping all your gold on arena runs. If you want to focus more on getting cards for constructed, you should be dumping all your gold on packs.

b) When I started off with the game, I found that arena was the greatest learning tool in game. For 150, you're guaranteed 1 pack, and given the opportunity to play with cards you don't own. On top of that for doing well, you're rewarded with even more gold and possibly more packs.

Also how important is it to have a good grasp of multiple classes for arena?

Some would argue that Heroes doesn't matter in arena as much as they do in constructed due to the randomness of cards you up drafting. Many times arena decks focus around neutral cards, which every hero has access to~

Just to add to this from my experience with arena you every time get a pack (worth 100g) entry few is 150g so to "break even" basically saying that you would get as much out of it as if you had bought the deck with gold. The other point is the "play for free" point where you get at least 150g+ thus the arena pays for itself. The first point the "break even" come at around 5-6 wins in arena but is by no means guaranteed I've gotten 10g for 6 wins before. The next "play for free" point is 7 wins, it is guaranteed though you will always get at least 7 wins. So in arena your goal is always to at least get 7 wins for this the most beneficial point. The gold always vary though you can get all gold or gold + dust or extra decks or golden cards!

5-6 wins: good
7+ wins: great!

Has anyone found a resource for decent decks built using only the cards unlocked by getting a class to level 10? Without any extra card packs or money spent?

Has it gotten harder to reach 3 star masters nowadays? I remember hearing everyone say how they got in after <20 wins a few weeks ago, but I've been playing a ton of games in 1 and 2 star master since I got in the beta (about 2 weeks ago) but still haven't been promoted to 3 stars.

Also, what's the deal with ladder resets? I heard them talking about it on Turn2 last week but I don't recall ever losing my ladder rank.

I believe the break even point is actually 4-5 wins if you factor in dust. This becomes more true as you have more cards in your collection already as dust becomes more valuable (dust from a pack is pretty low unless you get lucky). Dust is basically the only good way to finish your deck/collection later.

How does matchmaking in arena work? Do both players have the same number of wins, or is it possible to get paired with 0-2 player while having 8-0?

Is there a way to see your opponent's deck composition after the match ends? I haven't played the game yet so I was curious if this was implemented. Do you think this would be something worth implementing if it is not in the game already?

I think because of the variance you could even break even at 2-3 wins if given a good amount of dust/gold. You are right about dust being worth it. I read an article that I will try to find about how dust basically ends up equating to 1 dust= 1 gold as long as your end goal is to have all the cards in the game.

Edit: Found it! Lots of math here There is quite a bit of math discussion in here but the part about 1 dust = 1 gold is about a fourth of the way down under the section marked "The Law of Large Numbers" It has a bunch of interesting topics about how daunting the task is of getting a full deck of cards (much less a full deck of golden cards)

There's something i dont quite get in the flow of the game

To me it feels like once you're 2-3 minions behind on the field, you're almost guaranteed to lose, and being 2-3 minions ahead is almost entirely dependent on the first few cards you'll draw, ie luck

Is there something I'm missing with the actual skill required in this game?

You can pull ahead with some good cards but if you have a setup for late game or mid game you can easily trade 2 for 1. Or with AoE you can clear the whole board! 2-3 Minions ahead isnt a death sentence and often winning early doesn't lead to winning late although it can.

The skill portion of playing is in the deck building as well as optimizing your play. You want to be able to know when sometimes not playing a card is better than playing a card. Or what order you should do things in. Also knowing what everyone's cards could be is something you need to know. Also if you have 2 2mana cards knowing which one to play first.
