Was he? I remember him saying he pursued it but did he ever actually qualify for a pro tour? I didn't think so. Regardless, of course he has the mind for it.

I think the reason i dislike shaman is the ability is random so you can't count on hitting the one you want.

I don't think shaman is really that great, he can kind of muck up the ground but only one of the totems can trade the others just buy you half a turn or whatever. It's hard to say though the matchmaking seems like it's just against random people so it's hard to get a decent game to test stuff.

the tempo doesn't seem that good for going first yea, maybe when more expert cards are around that will change though. format is really slow right now.

I remember Artosis saying he used to be really good at MTG too, and he decided to switch to full time SC:BW because he couldn't be as good as he wanted if he played both? Not sure if he was pro level, but good enough to think about going pro maybe. Something along those lines. It was really fun to watch him play though. Actually made me want to play it.

Everyone I ever met ever says they are great at Magic, I think it's just something to do with Magic players mentalities, they are the best, etc, etc, I have no doubt that Artosis had potential, he is a smart guy, but I think he is probably about your average PTQ level player. Until you succeed at more than 1 GP, or at least make day 2 of a pro tour.. not much to say.

Also, I really want in on this beta, looks like fun :D.

Well I played it for probably 10 hours total today in between sleeping, will see if its still fun when I'm not sick and having fever dreams in between games.

Overall the experience is really satisfying, there are a handful of small things that need to be improved through the beta and I'm not sold on the game depth or mechanics yet but time will tell. The interface as a whole is well put together so if they can deliver on game design that keeps it interesting even after I know the format it would be an awesome game.

I ended changing my opinion on the Shaman deck too, I rebuilt it and it's pretty strong. The format is pretty slow so if you just make a lot of big creatures you can use them to control and win, I think Mage vs Shaman might be like 50/50 just because the Firebolt/Polymorph combo gives you a lot of tempo but am not sure, would be nice to test it. I think the Mage ability might make a lot of kinds of gameplay totally impossible though, it seems really good vs the field and I'd guess once people get used to it all the x/1s will stop seeing play.

I've been playing Blizzard games since the start, and have always opted in for betas, but have NEVER gotten a key or closed beta access. I don't get it.

I got a key, then went and put it into my bnet account. Only realiced I wouldnt be able to play when the game told me so. I should have made a NA bnet account to use it :_(
And makes haveing one and fucking it up most sad thing! xD
