Could someone post who have won the different starleagues? From the start (when it had a different name but was basically the same thing, PKO or something). I saw one on bw.com but I don't really trust that site -_-
It had only 1 zerg winning starleague and there really wasn't all that many starleagues either, should be more.

Here's what I THINK I know, in chronological order:

- The Hanaro Communication Tooniverse Starleague (1999-2000) (the precursor to the OGN Starleague) was won by Grrr (runner-up HOT!!!).

- The Freechal OGN Starleague (2000) was won by GARIMTO

- The 1st OGN King of Kings ("KoK") (2001) was won by Grrr (was down 0-2 then stormed back to take the final 3 v TheBoy)

- The Hanbitsoft OGN Starleague (2001) was won by Boxer.

- The Coca-Cola OGN Starleague (2001) was won by Boxer.

- The SKY 2001 OGN Starleague was won by GARIMTO.

- The KT King of Kings (i.e. the 2nd KoK event) (2002) was won by Yellow.

- The NATE OGN Starleague (2002) was won by Sync (again leaving HOT at the altar without a ring...)

- The SKY 2002 OGN Starleague was won by [Oops]Reach.

- The current Panasonic OGN Starleague - well, who knows?

Hope this helps.

[EDIT] I put up an updated version with comments in the Articles Section. Check it out...!

Yes, Naz. I believe so.

And thx, HnR)ht. The records are correct, as far as I can tell. Was gonna edit it in myself, but you did it already, so won't bother...

I thought it was so from the moment I learned of starcraft, but these stats reinforce my confidence in that my theory is right: Top players games start depending on fortune I'd say about 50% because the mouse/control margin is really thin + everyone knows every strategy and every other player's tactics.

Well i got some secret info.Right before Garimto won his ogn league 1st time, another league was held for 2 months in korea, it was offline prelimns in many pc rooms and I recall it was somewhat melt with the same company supporting now gamei.

Anyway boxer at that time was a rising star and won this league wich was one male league and one female league.
And it was tthe very first league ever held on the new born cable tv OGN.

And u forgot to mention the very very very first tooniverse starleague held by PKO at this time ( most of pko ppls turned making ogn spitting the company in two new companies one for internet and one for the new TV format.)
This league was the first SC long length programm on a channel and was won by FREEMURA against SAMJJANG in finals, it was zerg vs zerg.
We can also notice that Everlast was in this league eventho he got raped.

Err vs Kook ki bong aka Theboy from the boys and girls pro team.
Samjjang lost in semis, in some epic pvz battle on lt where he went for a 14 nexus with 8 photons =)

About PKO, KPGL , GAMEQ and KGL, well I gonna have to do a huge memory work to remember some of the winners.

Well lets start with KPGL, KPGL use to held a pro gaming team, Maynard was part of it for 6 months in korea. It was located in the huge KPGL pc bang in the Shin dae bang main departement store. It was a male pro team melt with another female pro team, but appart tho.

I remember that Feel...Sense was the leader of this pro team( a very nice guy) He was a protoss player and won KPGL twice.
U got like 1 or 2 other winners but KPGL only held about 4 leagues if I recall right.

About GAMEQ, wich is the same staff ( almost ) of persons that are working at GEMBC.

So hmm, well i dont recall much the all stars leagues winners.
Boxer won one for sure.
Intotherain got to finals twice.
Garimto won once.
St eagle or byun won once.

The first gameq world championship got owned by h.o.t
I have no fucking clue about the KGL resuslts, it was team league for pro teams and guilds.
Format was 2 male 1v1 and 2 2v2 one male / male an another female / male.

Anyway their should be a korean website that gots all this stuff wrote down and prolly even the v o d s, cuz its a property of the same ppls that are running gembc broadcasting departement.

I know for fact because I saw it that Gembc broadcasting office is even using some gameq broadcasting material cuz they still had the gameq stickers and signs on.

Well anyaway all these games are somewhere.

KPGA held some tourneys, right? I remember vividly watching a Slayer documentary here where Slayer tore some zerg (Love to sky??? Just a more or less wild guess) to pieces in a KPGA event.

Thank you very much
Anyways this really shows that protoss has won most starleagues of all the races and that 2 protoss are at 2 wins if you count the king of kings Really don't think there is ANY imbalance what so ever.

Yeah, VODs or Reps (although i know there wont be any) of this stuff would be really cool as i've never seen oldschool people like Ssamjjang or TheBoy or even Pillars playing, but they must have been damn good.

I'd also like to know whether the playing Style in several matchups has changed or not.

How did PvsT look like in 1999 or 2000, similar to today ?

I have all the Grrrr... vs TheBoy games.

GRRR CHOOSES TOSS in the last 3 games. He won on blaze which BLEW my mind. His win on Deep Purple was just so powerful. Using insane things like 8 Dt drop.. the final game on JS was just rolling in Grrrr...'s favor, able to sneak a DT into TheBoy's base... gg
