I loved Baldur's gate and final fantasy 7, and am a nerd of both, I can tell you every character in both games, and in baldur's gate i can go so far as to tell you where you can get 95% of the items, in both 1 -2 and the expansion for 2, as well as in icewind dale 2. in FF7 i can tell you where to get 90% of materia who, how and when you should level what, as well as the order of answers you should give when you meet Yufie ( don't use that save point) If you're wondering, because this is always misinterpreted as me living in a basement are being socially inept, I have had 8 relationships 4 more serious ones, and 100 flings (estimate ( exaggeration) probably closer to 20-30) , i am 18, athletic (lean is more the term) and have lived in 4 countries, i work full time at a bakery with 5 girls making $9 and hour, failed the 11th grade in europe( portugal) for missing an exam, have an estimated I.Q of 142, took the A.C.T the equivalent of the S.A.T at the request of duke university when i was 13 (7th grade) ( I lived the U.S for 8 years(Miami)) ( i had to choose between one or the other and I was told the A.C.T was harder) which i got average grades on, ( i have never had to study outside of a classroom during class hours, in my life. I wasn't interested/ motivated enough i guess) My interest in games started with my brother, who is a 26 genius ( literally) unemployed, homosexual (sort of) ( not flaming ) and is living in a remote town north of the Portuguese capital, he is very promiscuous, and has a more active sex life than anyone i will ever meet, and i have met hookers. So no he isn't a socially inept, but he played D&D with the boards and everything and had RPG books . Edit: I think I.Qs are bullshit, but they offer some insight edit 2: typo

Only good scifi movie i know of is 2001: a space odyssey. Fantasy may be a bit gayer with those elves and stuff, scifi is still worse

For instance, theres rpgs of both themeres, Sci fi, and Fantasy, they just cater to different publics of nerds. Imho, its a matter of opinion, I personally, really like blends, with magic and science. For instance, in the D&D campaign I DM (its fantasy), the gnomes are really advanced in technology because of theyr magic habilities, so they are already trying to create a space station while everyone else squatters over magic items and lands. And where do you draw the line between one and another, can I can the protoss a fantasy race ? I mean there are psionics in D&D as much as there are psionics in Sci Fi. Its not important if its medieval or futuristic, whats important if its high quality or not.

Sci-fi on the other hand is more about speculations based on current or future science or technology. I'll quote wikipedia: Science fiction differs from fantasy in that, within the context of the story, its imaginary elements are largely possible within scientifically established or scientifically postulated laws of nature (though some elements in a story might still be pure imaginative speculation). Exploring the consequences of such differences is the traditional purpose of science fiction, making it a "literature of ideas".[2] Science fiction is largely based on writing entertainingly and rationally about alternate possibilities[3] in settings that are contrary to known reality. Fantasy and Sci-fi are not mutualy exclusive and I would say that Star Wars is to some degree fantasy. Basing a movie in a medieval setting also doesn't make it fantasy. Both Sci-fi and fantasy are two kinds of speculative fiction. That being said I love both genres but I find that books and movies of sci-fi are often better written and include more interesting philosophical questions etc. I have yet to find a movie equivalent of 2001 in a fantasy setting. I don't think either of them is super nerdy today. All the new kids have grown up with harry potter and star wars cartoons etc. I guess hardcore sci-fi books and pen and paper fantasy role playing will always be a bit nerdy in peoples eyes though ![]() + Show Spoiler + Not that being nerdy is something I strive to avoid. I'm a proud nerd ![]()
