If you look past the Anonymous and youtube videos you might realize this could be an important moment and will probably be the first time ever a religion gets dismantled due to kids on the internet. I don't think anyone can actually explain what 4chan is, I would say its a lot like the matrix, you'll have to experience it for your self. If you think of the internet as country of its own, 4chan would be its house of representatives. Have a read through this essay, it breaks the entity down and explains it a bit.
