I have a friend who has tatoos almost everywhere and he studied to be a librarian and got a job shortly after. A "goth rock" librarian, quite an unusual experience. Most of the older ladies and men are almost afraid of asking him about books and stuff.

Any suggestions? Conditions: 1. Wraps around my upper arm, not too long though. 2. Asian-style (if theres such a thing) as I am Asian.} 3. Snake can't be too thick as I'm not fat and a thick snake would probably cover my whole arm.

This is gonna be the size of maybe 2.5 fists on my upper right back If they dont charge you for a few sketches then im not sure they know wtf they are doing.Of course they charge for it they spent time and there ability to come p with a design that they think you want usually at least a deposit of 20$ is suffecient. There isnt any reason they should ask for more unless you are constantkly changing mind niot liking pics etc or its a invovled process with lots of pre work to do. - Make sure you get a Tattoo from a reputable place.(i.e. do your "homework" Home work= Check out shops, check portfolios if they have no portfolio dont give them the time, talk to the artist see if your vision can actually be relized on the skin. -some qs you may ask yourself or your artist. Is the shop clean?Do they use new needles?Do they have biohazard buckets/seprate trash for blood etc.?Do they have an autoclave and ultrasound cleaner? You are having a sharp object repatidly shoved into your body you dont want to have foregin objects, blood.feces in that do you? -Some general tips to make the experince more pleasable.Eat something before you go and have something with you a banana or something, specially for first timers the adrinolne eats thru your sugar storeas and mayleave youfeeling dizzy and woozy if you dont have some food in you. Stay hydrated. Bring some picture books,a dvd/port dvd player, book(if you can read with pain),ipod or music.Ofen the shops haev cd players tvs and they wont mind listenning to your music, the agian some artist love there music so make sure to ask. Be respectful of the artist and shops space and other coustmers some ppl dont like you coming over and hanging over them while they tattoo/get tatt Over all have fun be sure to comunicate well with the artist you do find so that you booth are happty with teh experince. If anyone has any questions pm me ive grown yup around the tattooing/biker life, ill try to help as much as possible. and remeber the artist is thinking while you leave (Tiping is not a city in china) Tip your artist if you like what they did.

I schedule mine for May 20. Enough time that I really wont miss much summer while it heals. The guy said it should take 2 to 2.5 hrs, so probably $400, probably under. How much is the standard tip?

I tipped $150 on $700, which may be a bit high but it was technically illegal (his shop wasn't allowed to open yet). I have no idea what the standard is supposed to be.
