Like my opinion (when I went to Italy for a month) that true Italian food sucks shit.
And the reason why you don't like NY pizza is probably because you're used to all the bland Italian food.
Really, who the fuck wants to eat a loaf of bread with a three inch layer of uncooked mozzarella? Or "real" spaghetti with crap sauce? No thanks, I'll take my Americanized version any day.
The reason why I don't like NY pizza is because there's nothing special about it. The toppings are good, the dough is good, but it stops there. Coal ovens do make a huge difference I'll give you that. It's just that there's nothing ' bang ' about NY pizzas. It all tastes like something any person who has some cooking ability could make if they really tried. I'm actually Korean and from what I can tell you there's nothing bland about Korean cuisine.
Since you like NY pizza, what is it about the pizza that you like? I'm curious simply because people that I ask in person who have been to NY just say that it's good because it's so big.
For an ' opinion ' that says it's good cuz it's a big slice, that's pretty weak in my book.

All about the turkey leg my friends.

Turkey leg is disgusting. Worst waste of $40 in my life.

Do you guys know Ray's Pizza in New York? AMAZING STUFF.
|
Costco of course. 2$ for a slice big enough to feed Liberia, or 10$ for a pizza that will feed the rest of africa.
followed by Little Caesars (5$ for a large pizza that you dont need to wait for? insta win regardless of taste)
followed by dominoes (3x5$ medium 1 topping pizza, tastes better than LC, but you have to get 3 and wait for em)

Ack, NY pizza is better than any other pizza in the US. It's probably the attention to detail that makes it so great. So many joints go out of their way to get great ingredients and a great oven. The try to perfect their process.
I really don't know who you've been talking to who's said it's good because it's "big", but they sound retarded.
I've eaten pizza in cities all across this country, and nothing ever even comes close to pizza in NYC. If you think otherwise, you're in a considerable minority.

This is a much better explanation than those I've received in the past. I don't think you read the part about where I've eaten pizzas at though. Also I was fairly sure the deep dish vs ny style didn't really have a ' considerable minority ' either way.

I see where you've eaten pizza. I personally don't think Chicago pizza is as good as top NY pizza at all. I've had real pizza in Italy, and it's almost a completely different food from USA pizza, pretty much incomparable.
Most people I know like brooklyn style over deep dish style, but that's pretty much irrelevant I guess.
I don't know what it is about NY pizza that makes it so great. Maybe it's the water, but even the small NY joints make better pizza than 95% of the US.
