This place is exclusive to western canada, but there's a place called verns pizza, and it delivers the biggest, meatiest pizzas I've ever seen. There's a god damn chicken/cow sliced up on each pizza.

Best sauce in the world. It's mostly thin (or thinnish, not sure, haven't been there in a while) crust, and their dough is great too. Cheese is perfect, pepperoni isn't too rubbery or too hard, and their olives are great as well.

Any italian tl.netters? that would be interesting. (not saying the best pizza is in italy, but its likely that theres more places specialized on it there) Also many people don't know how the first pizzas were, they weren't round or with bigass bread, so I want to know some places that serve the original pizza!

I forget the name (I was practically crawling there i was so drunk), but I had an AMAZING one last time I went to Upenn. It looks like an old school diner, flashy signs, grey and black exterior. a philly person can probably name it... it's a 5 min taxi ride from upenn dorms. in jersey, the best cheesesteaks by far are at the midway cheesesteak stand in seaside. that alone makes it worth going to that scummy palce =p. Ortley is 10x better.

I went to Italy when I was younger, and had genuine Italian foods for every meal. The pizza there seriously has no competition anywhere in the world. As long as you enjoy the purist toppings [ sauce, cheese, garlic ] you will be blown out of your mind. Just as a reference in NY I've been to the actual original ray's, and some other famous places by friends when I was there. In Chicago I've had Giordano's and one or two others. Imo Giordano has the closest flavor to Italian pizza, which is why I was so happy/surprised when I was there and ate for the first time. Brought back memories of Italy. What's so great about it? It's bigger slices and more toppings? Is that seriously how you grade a pizza? When compared to other places, Papa John's has a bigger and softer crust, they give more generous toppings, and it's not all weirded out by grease: it works WITH the pizza :D And their garlic sauce is soooooooooooooo unhealthy but sooooooooooooooooo good  edit: I'm reading all these hate posts against Papa John's but I'm not really a big pizza fan. As far as the catering goes it is great goood money and easy work generally the Ice sculpting is harder than doing pizzas though not nearly as fun. We usually do a few partys a month sometimes a few more than the one or two that always come up.Ive also had the plesure to work for the Louie Vaton people(sp?) (high end designer clothes/bags)For all the corprate heads of that company from literally all over the world bunch of snobs if you ask me.Also we have a regular gig at this rich guys house that if i had to cmpare to something its what id imagne Hugh Heffners pad while parting to be like down to the scantely clad ladys and the groto under the water fall in the swiming pool, no jokes im dead serious here. I really don't know who you've been talking to who's said it's good because it's "big", but they sound retarded. I've eaten pizza in cities all across this country, and nothing ever even comes close to pizza in NYC. If you think otherwise, you're in a considerable minority.

I personally don't think Chicago pizza is as good as top NY pizza at all. I've had real pizza in Italy, and it's almost a completely different food from USA pizza, pretty much incomparable. Most people I know like brooklyn style over deep dish style, but that's pretty much irrelevant I guess. I don't know what it is about NY pizza that makes it so great. Maybe it's the water, but even the small NY joints make better pizza than 95% of the US.

I despise Pizza Hut and Domino's and Little Caesar's, though Round Table is pretty good. It's like Mountain Mike's Jr. The top of the top in my opinion is Pizza California, a mom and pop restaurant in North San Jose. My coworkers and I used to go there every week, the pizza is just that good. The cheese is thick, crust is firm but not too firm, just shy of it being gooey. This is the kind of pizza you may have to eat with a knife and fork. Delicious. They have some award for being #2 in Silicon Valley though I don't think I ever found out who was #1. So, by default, they've become my #1. =]

The problem alot of independants have around here is their pizzas taste too salty , so i'm inclined to say the chains are better than some of the independants.

Like my opinion (when I went to Italy for a month) that true Italian food sucks shit. And the reason why you don't like NY pizza is probably because you're used to all the bland Italian food. Really, who the fuck wants to eat a loaf of bread with a three inch layer of uncooked mozzarella? Or "real" spaghetti with crap sauce? No thanks, I'll take my Americanized version any day. The reason why I don't like NY pizza is because there's nothing special about it. The toppings are good, the dough is good, but it stops there. Coal ovens do make a huge difference I'll give you that. It's just that there's nothing ' bang ' about NY pizzas. It all tastes like something any person who has some cooking ability could make if they really tried. I'm actually Korean and from what I can tell you there's nothing bland about Korean cuisine. Since you like NY pizza, what is it about the pizza that you like? I'm curious simply because people that I ask in person who have been to NY just say that it's good because it's so big. For an ' opinion ' that says it's good cuz it's a big slice, that's pretty weak in my book. Because it tastes good. Simple as that. To Equinox_kr, do you go to PS3? Or whatever that school is near the police department? But then again, that's an elementary school. Or do you go to Fordham? Those really the only two schools I can think of within two blocks of that place. Except for Mt. Ursula, but that's an all girls' school.

And I must say, Lombardi's is the most overrated place I've ever eaten. The pizza was good yea, but it was more expensive and not as good as the average hole in the wall

This Pizza place is conveniently close to the F train, as well, we wanted to see the Brooklyn bridge and the Foulton landing (is that what it's called?). Care to recommend a few of these good eateries that are accessible by train ?

Rant about how good the pizza is in Napoli, and how bad all other pizzas are: + Show Spoiler + The pizza in Napoli is beyond everything else. Like Boxer vs random bnet n00b. The pizza in Napoli is levels above everywhere else in Italy, and I've ben around a fair bit and testing them out. And Italian pizza outside Napoli is still way better than anything you can get in europe, including so called italian restaurants owned by so called italians. Never been to US, but I cant see that they'd make a better job than rest of europe when it comes to pizza. In fact, if the pizza in US is anywhere near the prejudice I have or rumors I've heard about them, then they are a few steps below the european ones. Actually it is insulting to Napoli to use the word "pizza" about what they serve outside italy. It's like watching the epic Savior-Iris semifinal, and then go ob a horrible newb fastest game and claim "ah common, still same game". Ahh, that rant felt so good. ![]()

Angelies/Angelis/Angelys Pizza. This pizza was amazing, it was expensive, yes, but damn it was good. Anyone in or around L.A. should pop in and try it, friggin' amazing. Make sure to get some olive oil and bread with you before you leave. We were in LA for 15 days, and ate there thrice. In Denmark Competition between Azzura in Aalborg and an Italian restaurant in Skagen. Both charge 15$ for a pizza, but damn there good. Best bang for the buck is Amigos in my town, 3$ for a slice that easily fills your drunken stomach and 3 am. In Italy They're all good. Anyone saying that any Pizza can beat a traditionally made Italian pizza is way off. There's a reason Pizza is an italian dish, cause these folks know how to make it. I have yet to have pizza in italy that was worse than the best I've had in any other country. If you love pizza, visit Italy, you won't be disappointed.

OH yeah, and costco pizza. WAYYY better than fastfood pizza's. it's huge too. If it's junk food you wnat, then anywhere, dominos pizza hut is all good. especially with their 555 deals. but personally i can't put those in my mouth anymore. soo disgusting. a sort of mid way is papa jons. not as clean and fresh as roudn table, but not as nuked as pizza hut or dominos. But i must admit round table is a bit expensive comapred to th erest.
