So I got back a while ago from watching an advance screening of the movie. Overall I'd say it gets a 3 out of 5 stars. It is a pretty basic plot. Man creates virus, virus kills man, survivors fight for their life.
Theres plenty of action and moments that'll make you jump, but it lacks a good flow and sometimes draws out parts that are unnecessary. If you're the average movie goer you will probably like this a bit, like if you enjoyed I Robot, Transformers, Live Free or Die Hard, or The Mummy series.
Smith's character was played well and I probably wouldn't choose anyone else to play it. As for the baddies, if you've seen any of The Mummy movies then you'll know what to expect. The movie atmosphere also kinda reminded me of Jumanji.
Oh and if you wanna see what kind of movies I'd compare this to on my rating scale, look at these: The Mummy series: 3 Transformers: 5 Next: 2 Resident Evil series: 2 National Treasure: 4 The Departed: 5 300: 5 <- how could I not
Don't read the following spoiler if you're planning on watching the movie. + Show Spoiler +

If you didn't enjoy The Departed then something is wrong with you. What kinda movies do you like? 30 Days of Night? Cabin Fever? Sci-Fi channel movies?

Totally. SO mainstream. If you like movies that critics like you should probably just go mix yourself up a nice bleach cocktail.
My favorite movie is The Slingshot by Åke Sandgren. Bet you've never heard of it! Know why? Because it's obscure and quirky. I'm a real movie fan, not like those mainstream assholes.

Does it make you that much cooler? I only listed those movies because thats what the AVERAGE movie goer has seen or heard of. I'm not going to list off movies like Trainspotting, Requiem for a Dream, The Machinist, or Green Street Hooligans.

rofl i expected a nice summary of the plot.. thinking it wouldnt spoil it that much and worth the read. I know you gave us a heads up, but... jerk.
And i really did enjoy national treasure too.. but i just finished reading the davinci code at that time and i wanted to see someone find the holy grail sooner or later.. so im probably bias towards that
You gave transformers a 5 out of 5...that throws me off completely, and as for departed, 4 out of 5. i've seen the original movies it was based on, and i think the originals were better.
aside from that, i've seen the trailer and read what the book was about (not the actual book..>_>) and i'm definitely looking forward to watching this =D
