Despite being a historically reputable lawyer, he's done a strange series of dumb stuff over the past year or two. Well, he is a conspiracy theorist of Alex Jones madness level. Maybe he lost it, maybe he was always completely crazy. Aren't his most famous cases in the 1990's? Now some people are good at something and batshit crazy for everything else; I don't see why being a celebrity lawyer couldn't also be raving mad.

Sidney Powell and even Giuliani are both in a similar position.

I think the idea that having a good lawyer should reduce the chances of getting punished for a crime you committed, and often through obfuscation of what events transpired, is frankly, quite perverse. I'm kind of with you. I get that we have to expect lawyers to do everything in their power to win for their clients in order to uphold the integrity of the justice system, but in a situation like this where the person was photographed in a place he wasnt supposed to be doing a thing he isn't allowed to do I mean... I have a hard time blaming someone for going, "yes this is the situation we're working with." Very awkward balance to strike though, I do not envy that guy's job right now. Hitting that balance between being honest and doing whatever you can to win seems nightmarish in situations like this.

To me, it looks like a mix between seeing the comical in the situation and being extremely nervous about having a client who is getting global attention. Why is he even stating what even a 10-year old can see? I would rather hear about what we didn't see... How did he get that thing? What did he do with it afterwards? Was he carrying it just for the photo and then leave it? Did he do it alone? What were his intentions? Is he remorseful? Does he have a political statement supporting his actions? Does he plead guilty? How can the law be interpreted to his advantage? It was just terrible and he the lawyer should be fired.

It never should have been swallowed tbh, these people brought a gallows with them to hang Mike Pence with, this was always more than just the dumb people stealing lecterns and taking selfies. Also grand stand joke, I didn't notice til KwarK pointed it out, but that is high tier work.

I think proving innocence of your client that you know is 100% guilty is wrong. Your job as a lawyer should be to ensure your client gets a fair sentencing for the crime the committed.
