Lets have a TL drinking/sc party for those who live in Seoul; i think we should plan it for late august cause its monsoon season here still.
but i was thinking; 1. go meet for coffee 2. go eat gogi and drink 3. go play 2 games of starcraft 4v4 or whatever 4. go drink 5. go to norebang 6. go drink & go hunting
ok im 31, so i should be the oldest; so of course i'll pay. if you're a minor; well you can join us up to #3 then go home.
i guess we should meet in either hongdae or daewha
what do you guys think? how many of us are there? what do you think we should actually do. ( i refuse to go to coex and watch a game though!)
anyways i work in shinyongsan but we can meet in either gangnam or even myeongdong.
thoughts, who wants in?
^^ ps if there are any older guys out there, we can split it keke hyung!

norebang= nora (singing) + bang (room) = korean style karaoke~where its just a private room to sing and drink and do idiotic things, but in korea 'karaoke' is usually where you can order liquor and its generally more upscale.
gogi, or bulgogi = gogi (meat), bul (fire) gogi(meat)= barbeque gilling over coals at your table. actually there is different kinds of cuts, types; but usually in korea you'll go out for samgabsal (pork) or just galbisal(beef); bulgogi is marinated beef.
anyways in korea, you always count the # of places you go; you don't go to just one place and just stay there (its not part of the social culture), so first place we go, we say 'il cha', 2nd place, ee cha, 3rd place , sahm cha, if you stay out the whole night till dawn you should be able to get to 5 cha (oh cha).
^^ visit, i'll make rekrul take you out. kekeke

She cant sing for shit, which is prolly why people hate her. I mean she won Dae Sang just because of her popularity, not her singing merits.

If you guys can't handle that, a more calm night would be:
1. Meet at COEX watch some starcraft. 2. Go to a PC baang play some starcraft. 3. Eat a shit load of so-galbi-sal (MMMM MEAT.) 4. Drink soju/beer at random pojjangmajjas/bars 5. After we've been to 2-3 places go to night club for those of legal age and send the little kids back home.
Good Dave형?

It's a Korean-American one started by two Ajumas who bought the bar from where I used to work. FOB Ajumas ruined teh bar I worked at and now it's a room salon. It's in ATL. ~_~ When you come back I'll show you around.
It's a overpriced Korean-American whore house for the old gangsters around ATL. Hell man, Johnnie Black costs 160 for a 750ml.... And it's one of the dirty ones... the way the south does it.

Korea legal age is 19 but you can drink if you're younger in most places.

Any differences between beer (low %) and whiskey (high %) concerning the age?

You can get bulgogi everywhere Koreans live; almost everywhere in USA and anywhere else in the world.
Rekrul, pojangmajja is for ddukboki, and odeng! not drinking -_-;;
Ehh, too bad i'm here in usa

포장마차.. is the general term for those vendors on the street.. but generally it means a place where you can eat cheap and drink soju. Yes you do see a lot of those 떡볶이 vendors but for the most part if you ask a korean in korea what you do at a 포장마차 .. you'll get the answer that you eat bad food and drink 소주. When I was in the army we would always say 그냥 포장마차나 가자. because we were too poor to go to a bar. Drink soju and eat something fried.
BTW I'm going to hate it when this temporary assigned work is over.. right now I'm out translating documents and can use the internet all the time .. I don't want to go baaaaack
also post here if you ever get a date set.
[edit] ok I guess if you ask a student what a 포장마차 is they'll answer somewhere you can eat 떡볶이 and 순대. ask anyone over 20 and they'll answer soju.

This is certainly shaping up to be good.
I humbly say that I know almost all the hang-out spots and touristy spots in Seoul. I know a good place to drink and hang out in any place, COEX, hongdae, jongro, kangnam, anywhere. I almost became a Seoul tour guide. So I'm very knowledgable about hanging out in Korea, at least the innocent side of it.
And it's obvious that Rekrul is the grandmaster of the not-so-innocent side of Seoul.
So I think this'll be a good time.
The only question is... when?

ok, lets aim for 2nd week of auguest
tentative date: between 7th-11th, if someone could find when a good game is playing at coex, we can meet there first, take pictures, make a tl sign keke, etc.
also everyone PM me their hand phone number and korean name so i'll mass msg everyone on the date & time.
i promise not to give it out, if you want to exchange it with someone at the meeting, you can do so at that time, maybe some people want privacy, but i don't know, we are korean... but i'll reply with my handphone number so just keep it as reference for when we gathering on the meeting day.
so i guess we start at coex! i guess actually saturday will be best for everyone because i get off work around 6:30ish-7.
ok, the 1st annual TL Kr meeting, let the preparations begin. ^^

Hey, how about we get together for the MSL group selection?
August 17th.
We'll see 16 top players and we can come up with goofy chants for our favorite guys so that we scare all the little schoolgirls.

I'm down for this. I'm here until July, possibly early August.
Man I completely forgot about MightyAtom....I remember thinking he was a cool guy. I wonder if he checks this site at all anymore.
Did this ever actually happen?
I'm in complete shigol [near pyeongtaek] for weekdays but most weekends I go to the city. If all the old posts are still valid [ hopefully ] then I'm down. Money shouldn't be that much of an issue but ofc I can't afford the kind of schedule rekrul posted before. I'm a college student and all the money I brought is what I saved over the past year which was going to be spent differently in korea [ blog if you want to know more ] but I mean in the end it's all money that was going to be spent in Korea sooo.....
I guess basic info. I'm Korean. I was born in the states, Georgia specifically. [ Btw I guess you aren't that much older jongman I guess I could meet up with you, seems you live on buford I'm very familiar with that area friends live there etc ] I'm 20 in korea, 19 in the states. I drink, don't smoke, clubs are ok I guess but not usually my thing gets boring fast...never been to a korean club. I'm even down to do shit that you might consider boring like going to pc baang and wasting some hours playing sc even though I haven't played seriously in years. As long as it's with good company, let's do it. I can speak/read Korean pretty well. I lived in Korea for almost a year when I was like 10 and then I've lived in Georgia ever since so English works too.
Edit: MSN is my TL username at gmail.com I try to leave it on most of the time but it's usually off at night since the split cable is shared with a tv my uncle watches once he gets off work. [ Yes I told you it's shigol ]

Ack - mind I tag along? I can bring some girls who play SC (including my Korean assistant who speaks perfect english too ^^) I'm far away, but I'm always in Seoul on weekends so any day Khan isn't playing I could come ^^.
|
I'm down as well!
I'm going to be in Korea for the whole summer, starting July 1st to late August. So lets' get something down!
|
Of course nevergg~! I looked forward to meeting you and Susie out of everyone so far cuz you guys have teaching experience and you seem like very pleasant people! I probably should've met Susie already but things happened with some friends I met up with [ again blog ] so that got delayed a bit.
This weekend is looking pretty free for me, so even if it's not a huge get together that's fine.

Thanks ^^ I think I scared the crap out of Eddie this weekend with all the Khan drama - I'm really not that much of a hyperactive loon (really >.>) I'm actually taking my Mum with me to proleague this weekend so I can't really do Saturday or Sunday - or next weekend either. The weekend after is definitely possible though. It'd be cool to see some people at proleague though - even if it's just for a quick chat between matches.
|
Bumpity bump.
Definitely going this weekend. Will arrive in the city on Friday around 6-8PM. Can meet up until late Sunday night.
|
I will probably be in S.K. from end of July till very early August for about 3-4 days. If timing is right, I'm totally game!!!

I'm going to the North Korea vs South Korea soccer/football game Sunday night. =/ Give me a call when you get into Seoul anyways, Ack.

Underaged T_T
Hope you guys have to some fun time!
BTW I think it will be worth it to find some better PC bang, you don't want to go in where it's primarily adult content or gambling.
|
@lilsusie: I'm actually going to that game too! we should meet there.
|
I will come out on Saturday and Tasteless will come too. There is another TL guy in korea I met last night who's studying in Seoul right now. His name is Charlie but no idea what his TL name is, I think he'll come too.

thats not nice but which pics? i thought i saw all of them

If you really want to see her picture I believe she has one in the TL gallery. Either that or the interview post about her a while ago.
But seriously, Rek if you got time and wanna step up let's actually get this thing going.
and smuft bringing garimto would be pretty awesome, but if it's a big deal and he doesn't wanna come meet some strangers that's understandable. Anyway, let's get some foundations down first for the meet-up.
|
take pictures for us who don't have access to the awesome world of korea
I want to see drunken Garimto pics!! and rekrul!!
|
So what is the plan? I will be going from Pyeongtaek to Shinchon on Saturday morning.
|
I think we should arrange something for next weekend... this weekend is probably just not enough notice.
|
Next weekend is fine too I guess. I just thought I'd meet up with at least one, two, possibly more this weekend since I'm definitely coming.
Also, would like to mention this isn't going to be a big+successful gathering where we go to lots of places unless someone who knows places/areas and also is a hyung/noona type actually takes the lead. Anyone old enough to show people around have a high chance of being busy and having lives of their own. I'm not saying I'm the youngest person either, but we should respect the people who could actually lead this [ among them rekrul ]'s time.
That said, I'm still gonna call Susie since that's my only plan so far! Not fair that you get to go to that game though =/...I bet it's gonna be so much fun.
I think SKT1 vs SOUL is this saturday or something? Idk SKT vs someone...since that's all I really paid attention to. That's always open for a ' PG ' rated meetup.

I'm on holidays from uni -- I should go to Korea.
I'm friendly and people like me, I like to drink, I like Starcraft but am shit at it.
I think I'll fit right in, aside from the mediocre SC skillz.
I like girls too, I've heard they have some in Korea, mad!
