But when people say this election is BS because the old people voted against what the young voters wanted, that's just straight up stupid. That seems to be Testie's point.

+ Show Spoiler + Also, the youth is getting a little more uppity on the old people and there's an open disdain for them as if they are complete idiots. I've talked to old people who lie and are incredibly uninformed, but life experience still matters. Old people are far more interesting to talk to that's for sure. Talking to young people is painful in real life. When you're 18-24 you haven't experienced anything close to an old person. I'd 100x rather listen to John Cleese & Michael Caine rather than young-stud-mc-studderson who wants to remain because it's 'progressive, inclusive' etc. I still think even uninformed old people have a little more wisdom than their far more naive youthful counterparts. Of course you shouldn't just take celebrity advice or wisdom to heart. But I'd much, much rather talk to John Cleese or Michael Caine than literally any 18-25 year old actor/actress in the entire world. I'd bet the conversation would be 100x more interesting. The same is true for every day old people. They've lived a life and simply seen more. + Show Spoiler + On June 25 2016 09:30 plasmidghost wrote: If there's one good thing about the political decisions this year, it's the memes + Show Spoiler + ![]() Two absolute favourites. + Show Spoiler + ![]() ![]() User was temp banned for this post.

But seriously, if you want to understand their feelings maybe read some of the quotes they share. Like of example: "Firstly, it was the working classes who voted for us to leave because they were economically disregarded and it is they who will suffer the most in the short term from the dearth of jobs and investment. They have merely swapped one distant and unreachable elite for another one. Secondly, the younger generation has lost the right to live and work in 27 other countries. We will never know the full extent of the lost opportunities, friendships, marriages and experiences we will be denied. Freedom of movement was taken away by our parents, uncles, and grandparents in a parting blow to a generation that was already drowning in the debts of our predecessors. Thirdly and perhaps most significantly, we now live in a post-factual democracy. When the facts met the myths they were as useless as bullets bouncing off the bodies of aliens in a HG Wells novel. When Michael Gove said ‘the British people are sick of experts’ he was right. But can anybody tell me the last time a prevailing culture of anti-intellectualism has lead to anything other than bigotry." - Nicolas Barrett "This is the last 'f--k you' from the baby boomers. They took the secure corporate and government jobs with the guaranteed pay rises and final salary pension schemes and benefitted from property they bought cheap and sold dear. They burnt the bridges behind them by colluding with the dismantling of the very things that had brought them prosperity. Their last act will be to burn the economy before they die." - anonymous civil servant

There are young "idiots" and there are old "idiots" and my guess is that the proportion of idiots across generation is constant. But this time it happened that young idiots are right. Now, more seriously. I find the decision to leave EU stupid and misguided. EU has been portrayed as a Bogeyman, But what I find shocking is that there is no proper discussion of what has caused it. It is all calling names on the remain side, and cheering for "independence" on the leave side. But the issue is, and that the issue all over the Western world, that there is growing discontent with the current economic states of western countries among the poorer people. And the establishment decided to ignore that discontent. As such it was directed against EU. This is similar to what is happening in US, what happened in Poland, and what is happening in other countries. Ruling politicians have to wake up and address these concern, otherwise disasters like this will keep occurring.

Instead of building bridges to achieve greatness together, we'll continue to focus on the things, that divide us and burn the few remaining bridges, we've left... Then we'll build a "beautiful wall" to protect us from anything we're not familiar with.... 1. Can you specifically tell me what mistake we are making? 2. What bridge are we burning, and what exactly are we focusing on that divides us? What is the specific things that are the most divisive among us right now? 3. USA has upwards of 550,000 people illegally breaking the sovereignty of the United States per year (that's the number that AT LEAST gets through). Why is clamping down on that not a good thing? It's not about, "what's unfamiliar to us". So I'd really like your take on this because you just spouted off a bunch of slogans from the left that aren't very deep and seem backward and asinine to me. To punish them in an attempt to cripple them. We'll see how they weather the storm. Until then, time will tell whether this was a good decision or not.

I suppose if that makes the EU a fairer, better place then fair enough, its just a shame that it took something this huge to awaken the massive fucking sleeping beast and prompt it into action. There's nothing like the fear of EVERY establishment politician for their job to get something done in a hurry.

Jean-Claude Juncker said he wanted to begin negotiating Britain’s departure from the European Union, and there was no reason to wait until October, when British Prime Minister David Cameron has said he will resign. “Britons decided yesterday that they want to leave the European Union, so it doesn’t make any sense to wait until October to try to negotiate the terms of their departure,” Juncker said in an interview with Germany’s ARD television station. “I would like to get started immediately.” Juncker said the EU would pursue a “reasonable approach” in negotiating the separation. “It’s not an amicable divorce, but it was not exactly a tight love affair anyway,” he said.
