It sure is starting to look like Trump will be having to deal with an actual NK event.

To me NK is like the boy who cried wolf now. Been too many times of things being tense over there. Basically everytime America and SK do their joint military stuff NK acts up and the news media hypes it like ww3 is going to break any moment. I've gotten a bit numb to it.
NK isn't the brightest but there is no way they actually believe their own propaganda and think they can win or even survive an actual war of any kind.

I suppose I don't see an event as needing to necessarily be war. North Korea isn't just some negligible noise that pops up. We monitor them extensively and have provided aid for a reason. They are a nuclear power and have the ability to kill millions.

Yea, I agree that the Kim family are mainly just saber rattlers that try to get people afraid. They've been ruling the country for half a century now, they clearly aren't just insane.
The thing that gives me anxiety is if Trump can understand that though.

So apparently NK fired some missiles recently and Japan wants to strike back? Only seen a bunch of clickbaity as fuck articles that I refuse to go into on principle so can't link anything with a solid source.

Japan is one of the last countries I could imagine as "wanting to strike back" against anything. If there is no solid source reporting about it, then this should say enough.

Well just found it in the trending topics on Facebook. The sources don't seem entirely unreliable just all the titles are pure click bait so I refuse to click on them or link them on principle.
From what I can gather, NK has been firing more missiles into the sea. Japan who isn't allowed to actually instigate or attack anyone first after the treaty signed at the end of ww2 is asking permission and asking for the equipment to do a preemptive strike against NK.
Again Facebook news articles, but it's at least 4 different site reporting it, just none of the big name ones. So take it with a grain of salt, but it's not unreasonable to think that Japan would want the ability to properly defend itself back.

It's not a major thing. This one quote by an ex minister is the one being used over and over. "We have to face reality. If we do nothing and let them strike us, it’s irresponsible,” said Akihisa Nagashima, a former vice defense minister and lawmaker in Japan’s opposition Democratic Party.

So are Chinese troops really massing on the border or not?

China denies it as of now.

Japan is preparing to send several warships to join a US aircraft carrier strike group heading for the Korean peninsula, in a show of force designed to deter North Korea from conducting further missile and nuclear tests.
Citing two well-placed sources who spoke on condition of anonymity, Reuters and the Kyodo news agency said several destroyers from Japan’s maritime self-defence forces would join the USS Carl Vinson and its battle group as it enters the East China Sea.
The move comes as the Chinese president called for calm in the region in a phone conversation with Donald Trump.
China “is committed to the goal of denuclearisation on the Korean peninsula, safeguarding peace and stability on the peninsula, and advocates resolving problems through peaceful means,” Xi Jinping said, according to CCTV, the state broadcaster.
The call came after a series of tweets in which Trump pressed China to be more active in pressuring North Korea to abandon its nuclear programme.

My Air Force friend who is in SK says nothing special is going on for him (but he is only finance). Still, typically if something was going on they'd typically enter extended shifts or something.

Apparently nk evacuated 600k people from the capital.

I think the US-coalition and China are merely putting up a threatening position to throw KJU and his government off-balance, upset the status-quo somehow just as North Korea is about to try another nuclear weapon test.

I'm just surprised that China has suddenly become so bellicose against North Korea.

They'd be perfectly happy with North Korea if they had military bases there and North Korean security was guaranteed by Chinese nukes in the event of a war. But they're not at all happy with the current situation. It's not about NK, they'd willingly defend NK with their own nuclear deterrent.

It's a couple of reasons why. I think Trump stating that he's going to deal with North Korea with or without China has kind of forced China's hand. Also the fact that NK is trying so hard to get nukes it was only a matter of time before China has to do something other then say they don't want it.
NK has been doing this for years and it's about time people stop saying "knock it off" and nothing really happens. You can only do idle threats so long before they call the bluff.
