The other guy that did 116000 feet had way worse technology supporting him but he made it aswell.
safe? nah, buddy, any scratch in his suit will mean that all of his blood in his body will boil in less than a second. if he starts spinning, he'll accelerate at a rate, that will turn him into spaghetti and rip off his limbs. now his helmet is fogging, and if that issue wont solve itself, there's a possibility that his faceplating will freeze and break on his way down. i fear that monster energy has sabotaged this entire event, and this in fact is a battle of esports between red bull and monster energy.

The explanation is right here
ontopic: I can't believe I've already spend two hours watching this. They mentioned BBC doing a documentary about this, can't wait to see that

The race to colonize far away planets with prisoners.

Did I hear that right? Yes, as there is practically no air up there so he accelerates very rapidly On top of that I just learned that mach is no absolute speed, but "describes" dimensionless the relation speed between an object and air.
Thanks for sharing, I was starting to deduce that from other comments but you confirmed it. So many interesting factoids that I've learned today.

this reminds me of a puzzle!

How much radio contact will it be on his way down? If I did a jump like this I would have wanted some sick trance track or something being played inside my helmet on my way down.
|
What he should say when he jumps: "Thats one small leap for mankind, but one giant jump for me!"
|
So he is having problem with the heat sensors that is supposed to make sure no fog is created on his visor.. Seems like they have been trying to fix it for some time now with no success. He has to jump right or is there another way for him down? Like waiting for the balloon to drop on its own or something and then jump at a safer altitude?

The jump itself Shouldn't be a problem(Though obviously a shit ton of things can go horribly wrong) What I'm most worried/intrigued by is the human body will actually react to breaking the sound barrier while not being protected by a plane/ship etc.
They probably had some smart theoretical phycisist who calculated that shit.
