If he goes back they'd probably spare them and kill him Nah, He would get rewarded since he didn't join the "evil" South. But if he stays, surely his family will suffer, thats why NK people don't mass defect to SK. Still, many people here got brainwashed so much by the Western media, NK is not that bad compare to the middle East. They have access to many things(hence their Chinese neighbour). They just got the Kim family as their religion thats all. First of all, many Red Army veterans were executed by the Stalinist regime. I bring this up to highlight the fact that the so-called communist dictators (and Kims are much closer to Stalin than to their Chinese counterparts) often don't act in a sane manner. If he got back to NK, he would most likely get executed. Second of all, NK is way worse than Middle East. In Middle East people don't have to resolve to cannibalism due to famine. In NK this happens periodically.

How do we know hes not one of the bad guys? You can make alcool yourself with almost anything. My grandfather (R.I.P) told me that when he was a prisonner of Nazis in the 40's he and his buddys used to produce vodka with potatoes and get drunk inside the camps ! If you has the technical knowledge and anything with sugar or starch, you can produce vodka, even in NK.

You do realize that almost all vodka is made with potatoes, right? It's not the main ingredient in all of them but a portion of most commercial vodkas come from potatoes...
