Many people here seems too excited for the guy. For all I know hes doomed if he won't comeback to NK or at least his family back in NK is doomed. NK gorvement will punish his family harsh if he doesn't come back. Unless hes some homeless guy that has no relatives but I really doubt that.

I absolutely love reading interviews about North Korean reactions when exposed to the rest of the world. Not in some sort of sadistic way, but rather am always curious how aware they actually are of their conditions relative to the rest of the world. We hear that technology and communications from China continue to permeate into areas of North Korea, and I wonder how much of the population has true loyalty (which I suppose is still the vast majority) to North Korea and those who have to feign that they do.

I know my mother grew up in third world Taiwan, and despite Chiang Kai-Shek being absolutely awful to the native Taiwanese, was absolutely sobbing in tears when news that their leader passed away, as were all her friends. And the mass sobbing was completely legitimate - there wasn't even any media around. She was simply truly depressed for a matter of time.
