This is a tragic event. Let's not derail the thread with a gun control debate. Posts from page 9 onward will be moderated for steering the discussion towards gun control.

I thought the coverage most of the night by CH9 was really good. There were points where you could clearly see the anchorwoman getting emotional, and multiple times they came back to her where it seemed like she had been tearing up, especially every time she had to deliver an update about the 6 year old or 3 month old. She was definitely invested in the story, and if there were times when she seemed a bit shrill or over-exuberant, I think it was nerves. She was clearly walking a tightrope at times.

Ch. 9 is doing incredible. Really being affectionate towards everyone.

What do you want them to cover instead? This is a breaking, horrifying news story, it's exactly what I would expect the news world to be covering at the moment. I agree that journalism is often overly focused on dramatic things that don't impact most of our lives in a direct way, but there's no question that there is a great deal of demand for up-to-date information on the shooting, so that's what makes the most sense to be covering on a live broadcast.
Im watching fox4kc and its just so disgusting . the epitomy of the human soul. And so far every other news site is just as bad . Can i have link to what your watching?
I feel like this is relevant and I hope that someday news companies will stop thinking about money and viewer numbers in order to prevent tragedies like this

I hear claims that it could take days to disarm o.O
Some guy trying to emulate the joker? I fucking hope not
I've honestly felt like this was a joker style attack too. With all the bombs and the methodical killing. Then he allowed himself to get arrested in order to tell the police about the bombs. F-ing insane.
I just dont hope that's how the media are going to talk about it... that would, according to this psychologist, prob make things even worse.
Seriously that youtube clip should get way more attention.

Wow after watching ch9 news, I actually find it amazing that it's possible for a person working at any news station NOT to get upset over this. Finally turning in for the day, hope the situtation will have been made more clear and that this thread will remain at the same level at which it has been for most of the day/night so far.
Must have been a severely deranged individual. It's good they captured him right away and that he wasn't able to continue onward. According to this NYT article, the toll may continue to rise given that some are critically injured.
That's just terrible. I'm appalled at the cruelty and heartlessness of the man.
These people never harmed anybody! To quote TB: " My heart goes out to those affected by the shooting in Denver. Now if only that actually helped in some way :/ "
Charlie Brooker tells the god damn truth, I feel terrible and so sorry for those affected but this cannot be allowed to become legend. The killer seeks infamy, don't give him the satisfaction
Sooo ridiculous...was just at the gym and saw this on then came back and read about it here, reddit, my facebook/twitter feeds and from a few friends in mumble...
Only 13 miles from where Columbine happened too...zzz :[
