My personal best is about 3 minutes and 43 seconds, here's a video to prove it.
http://media.putfile.com/mile
Although that is my best official time, I have run faster. A few months ago, it was a rainy day and the track I train on was muddy. I had just finished running a half-marathon race and my coach decided I should jog a mile to warm down. well, I decided to surprize him by running the mile all out and I ended up running under 3 minutes despite the fact that I was not wearing shoes.
I know for a fact there are a few people here who can run a mile faster than me, so post your best 1-mile times.

7:55 back in 8th grade lol thats the only recorded time i remembered

Six minutes and twelve seconds back in the Cross Country days

not a bad time, the trick to running fast is to swing your legs as if you are flapping a pair of wings. elite runners don't really touch the ground with their feet, they just sort of glide around, saves energy
|
under 3 minutes? Isn't that kinda impossible?
|
Not that I know a lot on the subject but was that a video of the current world record set in 1999? Which is still 3:43... "haha"
|
yep, hicham el guerrouj ran 3:43
|
i seriously wonder wat is Wangsta thinking now
^^;; pwned

HAHA!
Owned.
Like the thread where I got completely owned. (how fast can you run 5 km). I swear my watch showed that time I said there, but it must have stopped during the run. I saw why in that thread
But I was a fast runner though.
|
at first i thought this thread was a mockery of the other thread. actually i still think it is.
|
Ya.. hehe.. im pretty sure wangsta is messin around I remember in the last thread he was a pretty good runner... think we have this exact thread going deep within the forum somewhere.. My best time was 4:27 but it was a leg on a 4x1600 relay.. I ran first leg so i got a normal start off.. but if i was able 2 run through the finish line i think i coudl shaved a second or 2 off that.. but instead i had to pass teh paton(spell check )

3.42, what a coincidence that my best time is only marginally better than the fastest time posted yet! (This time was run barefoot in the snow and I was dragging 40kg of potatoes on my back too (and I had a broken leg (Which had not been cast yet and the 3.42 was the time it took me to get to the hospital which was exactly1 mile away)))

How long is a mile in km?
|
never tried running a mile but i can walk a mile at 20 minutes.. btw have you guy ever run barefoot on flat ground? it seems that running that way will mke your feet spring from the ground.
|
Coincidently, I was the black guy in the video who was just good enough to not have to quit in the middle of the race without being completely embarassed.

but we was talking about 1 mile.

Let me do the math to see if I am faster than you:
My last recorded time for 50 meters was 7.7 secs in third grade. There are 1609.344 meters in a mile. That means if I maintained that speed for that long, it would take me 1609.344/50=32.187 x 7.7secs=248 seconds or 4.13 minutes. Of course a big part of the 50 meter dash is the start which is slower. I also have longer legs now than in third grade (can you believe that!). May be I should just go to the track and time myself again instead of wasting people's time here...

barely under 6 minutes.
westvolk, if your logic applied to me, I'd be the fastest mile runner in the world. -_-;

wangsta ... you the black guy ? LOL
|
7:09 I'm not much of a runner.
|
why would you just randomly decide to mock that retarded thread though. id say there is a much greater chance that wankster is an idiot.

calling all teamliquid super athletes

So if I start running at my 4.13 minutes/mile speed, and wangsta at his 3 minutes/mile, and we are starting at opposite ends of the same mile, where would we meet?

Hey, let's geek it up a notch: *When* would me meet?
Edit: He he he, what a way to kill this thread... >

6:40 in sophomore year of high school
then i got fat junior year cause i stopped exercising and SAT's hit me
|
LOL...
And under 3 minutes means holding your average 100m split just a little above 10 seconds. Uhhmm...k?
My best ever was a 5:33 freshman year of high school before I realized I was much better suited for sprints. It's only a shame my high school's sprint coach wasn't as good as our distance coach (xc coach of the year in '03 I think? my senior year we ran 10:10.00 in the DMR at AOC, and I was lucky enough to be on that 400m leg ).
|
What I want to know is, how fast does Boxer run the mile? :D
|
i ran a mile in 6min back in 7th or 8th grade though now you couldnt even pay me to run a mile ~_~
|
6:50 probably, but I've gotten lazier, and best time ever was 6:30.

Haha.... Like 4:20.. This is probably for something shy of a mile though, so i'd estimate maybe 5:00-5:40. I'm definitly not the person to be doing endurance running, haha.. The only way I have any idea of my time is because I run to school 3 times a day to and from. The terrain isn't perfect though, so surely that adds some time to my run. I am very fast at overcoming any obstacles though without barely slowing down. Anyways, its just short of a mile or so i'd say (although not confirmed) taking everything into consideration. I'm not bad at sprinting though, and during the summer if I went to school I bet I could definitly lower that time, but my fat ass gets very tired in the winter. :D

|
around 5:20 when not fully fit
|
Hmm I can run 100meters pretty fast then im tired and need to breathe for 20 seconds. So i have to do that 16 times which makes it 320+seconds plus 16x11 seconds ! 496 seconds! so that would make it around 7 minutes for me!

I wish CandyLand was on my math tests.

hell no, my goal in that race was to win by 30+ seconds but these 3 kenyan newbs were trying to stay with me, so i pushed 2 of them to exhaustion and they had to drop out. one of them got owned so badly he decided to quit running after that race

sometimes tl.net is very, very strange.. I don't know what to do, laughing?, reading another thread now?, closing the window? So let's just put my humble contribution to this thread .

I have no idea, I used to run 10km in 40 mins but that was long distance tempo.
