That poll that is at 59% to 28% for Romney is still too high for the man of insanity... Lul Inorite how can Obama have so many votes? Face it really TL is a EXTREMELY left wing website when it comes to politics and he still gets 30% of votes. Don't be surprised when Obama gets swept in the election. I don't understand the implied surprise. Obama is well known to be a center-right president and a left-wing candidate during elections. The TL population should know this at least.
Center right? What? lol
Under the Obama administration the federal government has added over 1000 new regulations, many of them on the banking industry, added $5 trillion in new US debt, drastically expanded federal bureaus like the TSA, a government take over of the student loan system, and created a new law allowing the government to force US citizens to buy insurance.
Say what you want about the guy, but his domestic agenda is actually pretty far left leaning in terms of the US political spectrum. His domestic agenda is another story, that's been a mixture of continuation of the Bush doctrine and apologizing for the Bush doctrine. In short, it's been a mess. Though I'm not sure you could say it's been drastically left or right leaning.

Obama Obama Obama. If you look up Romney's history he is a company and jobs destroyer, that's how he made his hundreds of millions of dollars and want's to gut health care. I don't think we need him leading when we have 50% youth unemployment.

The US debt has increased by $5,027,761,476,484.56 since Obama took office: http://cnsnews.com/news/article/5-trillion-man-debt-has-increased-under-obama-502776147648456
Fully one third of the current US debt has been accrued in just the past 3 and 1/2 years. Take that for what you will, but don't blame Bush's policies for it.

Then don't blame the entire debt crisis on obama. Bush made unnecessary tax cuts and started two wars (one of which was an utter waste of money), taking clinton's surplus and turning it into a huge pile of shit.
Also, obama is not "far left" leaning president. What the hell? He has been a center-left president. When you look at the whole picture, obama has done a lot of unliberal things like: having a hawkish foreign policy, deporting record numbers of illegal mexican immigrants, and increasing domestic oil output etc etc. Thats not stuff a "far left leaning" president does.

Allow my to quote myself:
Say what you want about the guy, but his domestic agenda is actually pretty far left leaning
I recognize there is a big difference between his domestic and foreign agendas.
Also, commenting on his record for domestic oil production is misleading. His administration has consistently held up plans for the keystone oil pipeline and has drastically curtailed deep ocean oil drilling in the gulf of Mexico.
Calling his foreign policy hawkish is a bit of a stretch as well. Granted, he has been aggressive in the middle east, but he's been quite soft on other issues such as missile defense. Let's not forget his little comment to the Russians a few weeks ago...
Also, Clinton left a pretty huge pile of shit himself. While the budget was in a "surplus", as of mid-1999 US debt was 5,656,270,901,615.43 source Things under Clinton weren't so great as popular culture has made them out to be...

The whole debt blame fight reminds me of the problem the post office is suffering from today. A lame duck republican congress passed a law requiring them to pay for the pensions of employees for the next 75 years in just ten years, something completely unreasonable (no other entity does anything like this, for obvious reasons.)
Once the post office finds itself in a massive budget crisis because of this, republican members of congress come in, say the post office is another failed government program, and suggest closing down most of it, which would hand off many of its duties to the private sector.
And lets not forget the congress is passing all of these laws and rules for the post office while it does not take any taxpayer money.

You realize tax cuts don't cause debt right? Overspending money we don't have does the less money we give the government the better because every cent we give it is more money they get to spend wrongly PLUS 50% more than that. The government is the most inefficient way to invest money ever fuck stimulus's they should have constructed a REAL budget that cuts all excessive spending in 5 years max and all money after that is given back to the people.

How is a stone cold fact "misleading"? Domestic oil production under obama is running at its highest in the last 10 years. That's a fact. Is obama really blocking all the natural gas and oil companies from building rigs around the country? If he is, why are the number of rigs increasing and oil production increasing? And his opposition to the keystone pipeline somehow makes that fact "misleading"? Obama is rational. He doesn't want to the poison the giant aquifer that the original pipeline is supposed to run over and so he's not immediately approving it. And this legitimate concern makes obama some kind of hippy liberal environmentalist? I think that they should approve the pipeline but this is just ridiculous.
Do you even know what obama is really doing in the middle east..? He's increased the number of drone strikes and they've killed hundreds of taliban leaders under his presidency, and he's giving a big middle finger to pakistan who is bitching at us right now. Thats not hawkish? At least obama knows how to work with other countries - this somehow makes him a "far left leaning" president? It's better than the cowboy diplomacy shit that bush pushed. And then obama sounded like a fucking neo-con in his state of the union speech this year talking about how "america is the greatest country in the world", "we need to protect our superpower status", etc etc.

It's misleading for two reasons. One, Obama has been actively blocking oil production on US federal lands, which is why leasing on federal lands is down during his term. Second, the increased domestic production is a consequence of two factors unrelated to Obama: 1) production from leases given out during the Bush administration, and 2) production on private lands that is part of the shale oil boom.
EDIT: Let's just consider the following -- is anyone going to mistake Obama for being a pro-oil production president? I don't think so.

Most economist say that the stimulus was a success and we would've been far worse off if nothing was done. Also cutting taxes, and spending both contribute to debt. The reason the government is so in debt is because for so long both parties were getting what they wanted ie: Lower taxes for the republicans, and raising funds for government programs for the democrats. Based off of your post you seem to have a biased point of view. You should really look on issues from both sides. This is why I hate political parties because people get a tunnel vision of sorts and think that x party= good and y party= bad.

The US debt increased by approximately $5 trillion (just over double at the end) under Bush. If you consider that Obama "inherited" 2 wars and one of the worst depressions in US history; Obama didn't do too bad.

Take that for what you will, but don't blame Bush's policies for it. Most of the debt was caused by the bottom falling out of the economy. Our tax revenue can be viewed as loosely related to GDP, which shrunk during the recession. Meanwhile, government spending froze, with a few targeted stimulus packages. Obama didn't do much to expand the scope of government in the same time. You can argue that healthcare reform expanded it quite a bit, but the overall costs are still considered budget neutral at worst.

I don't like either one of them. I'll vote Romney because I like him slightly more, but I won't be surprised or angry if Obama wins.

3) Keep the thread on topic. This is about Obama vs Romney in the US Presidential Election. Please avoid talking about people who will not be on the ballot in November. Talk about these people elsewhere.
This sounds very similar to big media. Romney hasn't won all the delegates, and from my understanding we still have about a month before that is decided. A lot can happen in that time.

I don't understand the implied surprise. Obama is well known to be a center-right president and a left-wing candidate during elections. The TL population should know this at least. Center right? What? lol Under the Obama administration the federal government has added over 1000 new regulations, many of them on the banking industry, added $5 trillion in new US debt, drastically expanded federal bureaus like the TSA, a government take over of the student loan system, and created a new law allowing the government to force US citizens to buy insurance. Most of that debt's from bush tax tax cuts and the two wars.
Most economists? Who are they? Have you seen where the money from the stimulus went to and what our debt is at? I hate spending on both sides I am a Fiscal conservative and Libertarian. The government had no right to spend our money the way they did throwing it as useless crap like Solendra cause that was a massive success half a billion dollars. You wanna stimulate jobs give me that money and I'll open something useful like anyone smart would. The government stimulus was a useless waste of money.
There is also a reason Barack Obama has had both his budgets not get a single vote in the senate NOT ONE not even the hardest democrat wants to put there name next to that (its because its useless horse shit) Don't tell me to look at both sides when there is nothing to look at. In truth where is the Truman democrat that still cares about the budget you know you can be left of the isle and not want to bury this country in debt? There is nothing wrong with that.

This sounds very similar to big media. Romney hasn't won all the delegates, and from my understanding we still have about a month before that is decided. A lot can happen in that time.
Short of an apocalyptic event, Romney is the candidate.
