This is honestly a very gentle fashion thread. Fashion discussion is by nature contentious, and internet fashion is one of the most unforgiving online communities. People who are thin-skinned have no business being here or doing this as a hobby. Imagine the discussion if a random posted a fit on SuFu or /fa, got downvoted and then proceeded to whine about people not being nice enough, like lol. But this is a small thread in a video game community about a pretty niche hobby so there are bound to be curious people, and I'm always happy for more regular posters, as long as they are reasonable. And yes the whole thing started when I asked what the "post-modern look" is, cuz it's a meaningless tern.

http://www.stylezeitgeist.com/forums/forum/forums/seasonal-collections/18448-juun-j-men-s-fw-2016?t=20497 I still think there is something missing - don't quite know what - but I follow what he does. The shearlings were crazy. One thing about Juun.J - I don't know if it's because of the Samsung money - the technical prowess and execution is really up there. I doubt many designers can make 20 different shearling samples with graphics and send them down the runway. Chances are no store will buy them, or at least not enough for production, so it's an expensive aesthetic exercise. Apparently he has Samsung money? Thought that collection had some nice pieces, but overall it felt a little like WangxH&M cuz of the big shapes and neoprene. Anyway, the most extreme example of conceptual runway shows that I know of is Thom Browne ![]() Apparently it's to show off his tailoring? Always confused by it but I hate the thom browne pencil leg cropped trouser look and that it's like the Supreme of yuppies. Denim cut as a bomber and layered underneath a wool coat/vest thing or as one piece, can't tell. Shape is interesting. Not sure what the references are. But definitely never seen denim used this way. But again, most likely a runway/conceptual piece and never put into production.

From Wikipedia: "Postmodern art is a body of art movements that sought to contradict some aspects of modernism or some aspects that emerged or developed in its aftermath." The garment looked to me like formal activewear, so i used post-modern to describe it.

i can definitely see the acerbity of online fashion communities lol out of curiosity, for limited budgets, is fashion on the "level" discussed here pretty much irrelevant? not sure if my phrasing makes sense, but is there even such thing as legitimate cheap fashion--since then you're talking about fast fashion/mainstream brands for the masses, and sans uniqueness it's not really fashion, no? seems like it's just dressing for the occasion with clothes that fit well. sorry for the abuse of the word fashion, hope that makes sense. like i mean you still have fashionable clothing that doesn't necessarily cost a fuckload, but if you're spending like tens of dollars on tops/bottoms then there's not really much discussion to be had about your fashion sense right, it's just a product of high fashion trends having trickled down or whatever[?] soz for plebeianism, just wondering

Not to mention the straight fakes/rip-offs in Asia. On April 11 2016 03:29 ragnasaur wrote: Tbh 'post-modern' is an art term that I used because design & fashion have a lot of crossover imo. Yes, but afaik there was never a Modern movement or period in fashion, so the most immediate meaning of "post-modern" in fashion doesn't hold a lot of weight. There are certain concepts that cross over, like bricolage, minimalism, conceptual, and performance art, but it's too messy to give the same labels as fine arts.
