I've looked through this thread a bit and it seems to me that the vast majority think what the models wear on the experimental runways is what you should be wearing in real. Point and case: http://cdn.styleforum.net/d/d2/900x900px-LL-d2a4fd5a_u2.jpeg Are these people for real or are they just trolls? Can someone enlighten me?

While you could have refrained from the overly confrontational tone, I get your feeling. This thread can give off a weird vibe if you just read posts without taking into account that they're basically mostly written by the 5 same guys who contribute frequently. Even fewer people in this thread like to post pictures of their clothes, and the few who do may not represent the majority or what you call "normal" fashion. That's completely fine though, everybody dresses however they want. But I'm sure that if you had a question or something to share, they would be happy to interact with you with an open-mind, that's what this thread comes down to in the end. Edit: Haha wtf I saw your first post about the leather jackets posted by lichter. Sorry to disappoint you, but they're fairly normal looking leather jackets ;D. If you don't like them AND don't like the more "experimental" ones, then just say you don't like leather jackets, it'll make it easier for everyone.

But because the aesthetic is so foreign to people not "into" fashion no one posts. It's a cycle. And no one posts fits. But for the most part yeah, very welcome here to answer more general questions or point in the right direction. Or suggest a discussion topic that's more interesting and see what happens!

I think you should post a pic. Of what? How I dress? What I think is "good" fashion sense? Sorry to disappoint you, but they're fairly normal looking leather jackets I agree to some degree, however whenever I see people talking about fashion they always post these images of models wearing the clothes they want to get. Have you actually tried them out or do you just buy them without trying them on? Fitting in my opinion is extremely important and if you don't know it will fit on your body you will most likely be disappointed. I'm getting the same vibe from some of the posters here as I get from people who thought the jacket in Drive was really cool and then bought it and it just looks ridiculous.

In my opinion, we men are lucky in that male models are way closer to represent the average-looking man than female models are to represent the average-looking woman (I don't even think female runway models look that good tbh ;D). Don't get me wrong, male models are very far from average looking, of course, but they're not that far off that you can't get a realistic idea of whether you would like to wear this or that clothing item. I mean, as long as you're not super overweight, you'll probably find a leather jacket that looks decently good on you. But yeah, best would be to try them on, of course.

but i agree it's much more 'normal', as in it's easier for people to view without making passing remarks normal is like sneakers jeans a tee and a hoodie, normal upscale for most people is a jcrew photoshoot i'm still interested in what bloodwhore considers fashion tho

Also, if you can't find items similar-looking to the one you wear at a "low" pricetag (like, something most people can afford), that's probably not "normal" fashion. So yeah, this is indeed not "normal" fashion as far as I'm concerned ;D. Nothing to do with whether I think it looks good or not, though. Hmmm, I guess there must be a sense of easy reproducibility for "normal" fashion. If you absolutely need to drop $2000 for one item to have something remotely visually similar to your outfit, it's probably not normal.

I don't know, maybe my definition is not so much that of "normal" fashion sense (of course everybody by now has realized that this was a rhetorical question in the first place and that Juliette doesn't believe in the existence of such notion, but let me try anyway ;D) as it is one for "mainstream" fashion. As an other example, a double rider leather jacket is as "normal" as it goes, you can find plenty of faux-leather shit that looks similar at a long enough distance to a good leather jacket ;D
