But beating other homosexuals is just wrong. Then you'd be no better than that other child...

where did you go to school? that is the last reason I can imagine a european would be bullied in europe.
The arab/black part of europe? Most likely? That must be a rare occurrence...
Modern society should have progressed beyond this shit.
I wonder where these homophobic views arise. It's one thing finding a homosexual act unfamiliar or maybe uncomfortable just naturally. It's a big jump from there to want to beat the crap out of someone for being gay. It's at least being reinforced/encouraged somewhere...

Mostly from being poorly raised with lousy self-esteem, and a vitriolic hate for some problem that gets embodied by directing it towards someone who is easy to find an excuse to hate (being gay).
Basically, the kid is really fucked up, so he beats up other kids to make him feel better.
He has raging hormones, and unfortunately he gets rewarded via attention and laughs for making fun of gay kids which propagates his behavior further. Lets realize how immature, inexperienced, and likely unintelligent the beater is. This kid is only what? 15? 16? Kids at that age are absolutely crazy little creatures. He probably has a bleak future in front of him, so I wouldn't mind him getting expelled. I mean, it will likely have little effect on the course of his life. The best thing for the kid is probably to be raped by a big black ragging COCK

Well strictly spoken I wouldn't call for instance Berlin a generally arab/black part of Germany but I'd watch my back on a couple of schools there. Same goes for other cities and schools. Anyways I don't think that this deserves any special attention to be honest - apart from the fact that he got away much too easy. People get beaten up for whatever reason - I don't think that it is such a difference if the victim is gay or not.
How the FUCK is this not closed yet? The last 15 pages have been the same back and forth arugments with neither side willing to give any credit to the other. And the rest of the comments are too one-sided and full of bullshit generalizations to be deemed worthy of discussion (on both ends). Please, for the love of god, lock this shit up.
It's been laid out that each side have come to there conclusions;
1.) A crime is a crime and all should be punished as such. "Who cares that I willingly stole from a homosexual.. I stole! That's all that matters!"
OR
2.) A crime purposely commited against another because he's gay (as in THIS case which we are talking about) should have a more severe punishment because it was committed with the intent to cause harm to someone who was gay FOR being gay.
If you're just now tuning into this thread, this is pretty much the last 44 PAGES compiled into one little post.
I am not surprised in the least that this occurred. What surprises me is that none of the other students came to help the kid who was clearly unable to defend himself. My peers and I would never sit and watch something like this happen at my high school.
I live on the east coast in the more rural area of Maryland and, well, the gay hatred has not really diminished in the least over the years, for those of you thinking that we have 'Moved beyond this' as a society. I know that in other areas of the U.S. people actually have progressed but for the most part but, where I live.... I'll just give an example.
There's a guy where I work who is a bit strange and overall a very nice person, but is openly gay. He is a bit clumsy but he tries hard at what he does, and in spite of this, every single person in the place absolutely hates him. 80% of them solely because hes gay, the other 20% find other reasons to hate him. It would not surprise me at all if he burned the fucking place down one day because of the way he's treated. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who actually attempts to talk to him.

Unfortunately, as a whole, we're only as 'Progressive' as the ignorant dumbfucks who live in my "Neck of the woods" in the eyes of others around the world. It's a sad fact but its true. We haven't gotten anywhere.

Because not everyone here is faithful to Allah... or religious...?
Getting involved in the assault by retaliation shouldn't be the main priority for the bystanders. They should, if probable, restrain the attacker and alert relevant authorities.. People who post and say they would return the blows if they were watching should rethink the situation.. No one wants to get hurt and less the better. It looks like an assault without external weapons but still..
Um.. I understand why recording such an incident could be useful (as evidence) but I am of the opinion that most people recording such similar incidents are doing it for the lulz... and its quite sickening.
Definitely a severe and suitable punishment has to be handed out though, including for the accomplices of the attacker.
That was sad to watch, pathetic. Good thing it was recorded for evidence, but its so ironic that it was recorded by someone else just watching as he got beat up...ugh, I hope he goes to jail
based purely on the fact i believe being a homosexual is wrong, i can somewhat relate to why he did that. Although it shouldn't happen in the first place , if you are gay , i dont necesarily care if you are but because i believe it is wrong means i cannot be friends with you. This though is a little bit excessive in the force but honestly alot of guys train themselves to be able to withstand a fight. This gay guy whoever he is has to realize this world isn't perfect and start training himself in some type of fighting art in order to protect oneself. But hey hes gay so lets prosecute the dude that beat him up -_-. Sadly im against prosecution , sure it was fucked up but its not like he was trying to kill him :/. Now the parents/student should be entitled for any dentist costs that the chip tooth requires and maybe some self defense lesson but thats about it.
anyways thats my take on this
edit: oh yeah and for not smart people. would this have been on the news if he wasn't gay?

Is it wrong of me to say that it is life? While I was growing up fights were common and taught me lessons that I have used in the rest of my life. I learned not to backdown from those who might have a size advantage over me, and to defend myself.
I guess what I'm saying is not everyone lives the perfect life and for most of us it's eat or get eaten.
Should have been a suspension (which is was) but for those asking for year long bans? Are you serious? I've seen and heard "fights" where people used knives and guns. Those are worth a year and prison.
Is it the fact the kid is gay that this even gets a topic? I can list 10 other instances of fights because one person doesn't like the other for some reason. But because it is homesexuality based, it's worse than the others?
It's bullying period and whatever the punishment is (3 days, a week, or whatever is the rule) should have been applied and was.

Just because you had a shitty childhood doesn't mean everyone else needs to, too.

It wasn't "shitty" at all, I wouldn't have changed any part of it. It helped me grow into the man I am today and as I said earlier, it taught me valuable lessons. You would be suprised what a good butt-kicking would teach you if you let it.
Usually they try and ham it up for tv and new stories, but from the video it actually looked somewhat brutal. He was laying into him when he got him on the ground. I think it's wrong that it happened, but I don't necessarily think the police need to be involved, there were a good amount of one-sided fights/bullying fights in my high school that never really had police intervention, but if that was the right decision is a different matter. Unfortunately I didn't personally know anyone that has had something like this happen to them.
