the application process includes your high school transcript: 4 years of high school each year with different classes. your grades in all four years are calculated towards a collective GPA which determines your ranking and GPA is usually calculated out of 4.0 with As being 4, Bs being 3 etc. in some schools you can take honors/AP/IB courses that are worth more points than regulars classes making them worth for example 5 instead of 4 and these courses are weighted towards for final school rankings the number 1 school in america does not do class rankings because it would create too much drama/intensity among students with AP classes or Advance Placement you can take a test that will give you credits towards college if you meet certain grade requirements and these usually look very good on your transcript you also take the SAT or ACT for college and its usually a requirement. SAT out of 2400 ACT out of 36. and you can also take SAT 2 which are subject tests you usually write 2-4 essays for your college application and the application also requires usually 3 recommendation letters pretty stressful process especially if your first couple of choices rejects you

The lowest level of qualification universities look at here are GCSE's, which are the tests you take over 2 years, between the ages of 14-16. Although I'm not even sure how many, aside from the very top, universities actually look at them too much. What they really look at are predicted grades, which are generally based on tests taken in your penultimate year (they themselves are worth 50% of your final grade), but these are decided by your teachers, so is open to exaggeration, which is sort of unfair to students disliked by their teachers. As far as I know, there is one extra-credit thing you can do, which is the Duke of Edinburgh award and thats worth a couple of UCAS points. (Each grade is worth a certain number of points, and some courses basr offers on points, others on grades, often subject specific, for example I need an A in maths, more specifically an A in 2 specific tests, but only a B in Chemistry. They do take into account extra curricular activities though and you write about these on your personal statement. The personal statement is, I believe, 1000 words and in it you include why you want to do the course and basically try and convince them that they want you. Unless they interview you at a later date, and until then, that is the only bit of your application that you can actually show who you are, the rest is just facts. Also here we apply through UCAS (who are apparently fucking terrible and too cheap to spend money so they can handle the obvious increased traffic they should expect today), which, according to Wikipedia, "is a charitable organisation responsible for managing applications to almost all full-time undergraduate degree programmes at UK universities and colleges." Through UCAS you write your application, and its basically filling in a form, aside from your personal statement. You can apply to up to 5 courses, but you apply to all 5 at once, so if you get 5 rejections you don't get an offer, although clearing is still available. Clearing is where universities try to fill any remaining spots. Anyone who hasn't got a place can apply to these spots, which involves phoning up the university and asking. Its pretty much, the first good applicant to ask gets the spot, so I'm pretty pissed off that UCAS still won't let me see my results, since theres a place I'm eyeing if I don't get my initial spot, and I know it will go fast. The A will refer to A2.

I just got back my C1 and C2 results back today, as I did them self taught in year 11 so I could do Further Maths at Sixth Form (this was a requirement of the school). I got 95 in C1 and 86 in C2. The average of these is >90, obviously, however I was wondering how much you think this affect my chances of getting A*, or whether you think it'd be worth a retake. I'd appreciate what you think, as you've done the A2 and got an A*. (^_^)

So you're well on track for the first requirement. With your high score in C1 it should give you some extra leeway for your 2 applied modules. Then all you need to do is work hard for your C3/C4 and score the 90 average and you're set! congrats.

Imperial is no longer part of UoL. Haha, too bad for anyone going to Imperial :p St. Andrews was my insurance choice, and from what I've read it's a really good school!

But when I took the A2, (learning at school) I only got in mid 80's averaging out at around 92-94%. I don't know if it was because I was slack as fuck in senior year, (which I was) or Maths got a lot harder(?). I say if you've got the money spare it's worth it to take a resit, because you don't have to put any extra into taking a resit apart from a couple hours and the money. It's not like resitting English literature where you have to learn new texts. Imo, if money isn't an issue - do it.

A Maths, A further maths, A chemistry, A physics, B computing. I got full marks in chemistry and physics so I was happy with that, and the computing was completely self taught so a B is good as far as I'm concerned . But my maths scores were a little too low for me , 2 97, and 2 low 90's . Before you think i'm insane i'm going for cambridge so anything low is bad .
